Topic: the Movie thread

there's been lots of discussion about different movies - but sometimes i wanna find something and i search and it's difficult to trace it - i'm sure i'm not alone in that (?) - i thought maybe if there was a centralized movie thread - that might make it a little easier in the future ...

anyhootskiis ...

by way of coincidence/chance-schisms ... we ended up seeing A Scanner Darkly with some friends last night ... and all i have to say is ... meh ... one thing the movie re-inforced in my mind though was "it's either now or never" - sort of an offshoot thought that didn't have much to do with anything in the movie ...

today i was looking around on the internet and came across this: http://wip.warnerbros.com/scienceofsleep/    the website is kinda cool - and the synopsis of the movie is kinda funky -- basically about a guy who has a hard time separating reality from his fantasy ... i was like that when i was younger 2 - mostly living in fantasy-land ... there's something in the movie called "parallel synchronized randomness" ... this is one i'd like to chekk

and about that movie someone posted: America: from freedom to facism ( http://www.freedomtofascism.com/ ) ... some of the things Aaron Russo talks about in that documentary/movie are amazing - i had no idea ... money is printed by a private bank in the U.S., and the government has to pay that private bank interest to buy the money back and issue it ... something to that affect ... and basically, there's no legal basis for income tax except it's enforced somehow by these IRS/Federal Reserve bullies (?) and a judge from the supreme court ruled that the U.S. government doesn't have to answer to the public's questions - and in essence, the government can act in any manner it deems to be OK and doesn't have to show whether its actions are legal, even though that's unconstitutional according their own constitution (?) ... and there's more in there about those ID chips they want to start using (and in some cases are already using) ... i'd like to chekk this movie out too

and finally - this isn't really a movie - more of a dialogue between 2 peoples - but it touches on fragmentation and disorder - goes to the very roots of the issue:  http://www.jkrishnamurti.org/index.php? … &menu=

Well there is the Movies thread:

http://forum.noblerealms.org/viewtopic.php?id=24

It's up to 14 pages now.  Not everybody has posted their movie stuff in that thread - maybe because they're not aware of it, or just prefer separate threads - but, it is there.   It's an old thread though...like over two years!  Maybe it'll be good to start another?

Re: the Movie thread

Hi oceanchild and lyra,

maybe we should start another movie thread. I like that idea. Freshen things up!

Somebody (i can't remember who) wrote on the forum yesterday, and I totally agree, that film is the magic medium, the most powerful and immediate way to communicate important ideas and concepts world-wide. I'm pretty passionate about film, and it sucks that there are so few releases that are actually worth seeing, but the ones that are... wow, so inspirational. Film. Books. Music. The food of life!

Also, there's also been a huge resurgence of documentary film in pop-culture, which is cool. And, with the advent of www.youtube.com and the like, people can make films and get instant distribution - it's only a matter of marketing - even if you only reach a few hundred/thousand people. It's an exciting time with a tremendous amount of freedom to communicate ideas.

I think I posted a link (on the old NR movie thread) to an interview with the director of  America: Freedom or Fascism. Haven't seen the film yet, so I can't recommmend.

I'd love to post the trailer for the new Darron Aronofsky film, THE FOUNTAIN. Can. Not. Wait. For this movie... however, I can't figure out how to embed my NR post with youtube movies. There's an HD trailer here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefountain

P.S. oceanchild, I'm so psyched for Science of Sleep. I love Michael Gondry! He directed one of my favorite movies ever, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind... and he's directed some kick-ass music videos.
