Re: Hayfever

I've know a few people who swear by scutellaria for hay fever. It doesn't work for everyone though. But some can take it for a while and then stop and the effect will last a month or so.

Re: Hayfever

I've endured yeah round allergies for about 20 years now with varying degree in severity.  Started as hayfever and progressed to the year round variety from seasonal frustration to a couple of years where I was really really sick. Most OTC options offer drowsiness for lame relief.  Even if OTCs work for awhile eventually tolerance builds up.  Anyway, BigPharm doesn't need my money. So...when my schedule makes healthy living difficult, this combination make a big difference in how I feel.

1) buy yourself some easy to use saline rinse (Saltaire - nationalallergysupply.com), not a spray.  Sprays moisten but don't really cleanse. Some people like Neti pots, I think they're a pain.  Afterwards keep the bottle clean and make your own with sea salt and a pinch of baking soda.  Ahhhhhh.

I had a dr recomemend it and she commented that the first year they began the recommendation their surgery rate dropped by 15%. Wash out the irritants--makes sense.  It seems gross but try it in the shower where it won't make a mess and you'll notice the difference.

2) take enough vitamin B, C and dose up on antioxidents.  Allergies suck the B right out of you leaving you with that hungover feeling.  Anti-oxidents help prevent you from getting a secondary infection or flu.

3) There are plenty of herb supplements you can take.  I have had great success with a two chinese remedies: Bi Yan Pian and Pe Min Wan Kan.  Both available on the web. Do take it with warm water as instructed on the package.  Don't understand why but this is important to the effectiveness.

4) Dido on the Oil of Oregano.  Don't leave home without taking it.

Re: Hayfever

I agree with Starcat. Pretty much everything can be linked back to nutrition. Do you eat dairy products? They're notorious for causing hayfever/allergy problems.

I also support Starcat's suggestions of colon- and liver-cleansing. I had health problems which were entirely cured by these methods. See http://www.curezone.com if you're new to all this stuff, it's a great resource.
