What do you guys use to protect against sunburn?
I guess i am lucky that i tan quickly so i only use virgin coconut oil which makes me so go as brown as a nut but this would be no good for people with sensitive skin as coconut oil has only an spf of around 2
There seems to be very few safe commercial suncreams on the market without the carcinagenic chemicals in which i think are a major cause of skin cancer does anyone know of any safer ones?

Shea butter protects from the sun.  I didn't find an actual SPF by googling just now, but pure unrefined shea butter, I think, smells nice and feels nice on the skin.  I haven't really put it to the test myself, as I work inside a lot, and what time I spend in the sun I want to soak up all I can get, and I tan quickly too. 

If you need more SPF, a safe choice is titanium dioxide, but if it's micronized titanium dioxide  it will absorb into your skin.  The micronize it to make it invisible on the skin.  The non-micronized sits on top of the skin to form a physical block, but it can look pasty, but my understanding is this is the best way to use it.

Thank you for bringing this up, because I agree, studies are showing that most sunscreens cause more cancer than they prevent!

That seems like a good product Lakme, it seems the "safer" sun creams use titanium or zinc oxides as filters or reflectors from what little research i have done on this.
