Topic: NASA hacker speaks out.

I give the guy credit for his computing skills, but geez, did he really think he wouldn't get caught?

The UK's NASA hacker 39-year-old Gary McKinnon has broken his silence since being caught, and has shed some light on his illegal hacking activities. McKinnon, who is accused of hacking US Army, Navy, Air Force and NASA computers, has highlighted poor security as a major factor in his ability to wander through the IT systems of what are meant to be some of the most secure organisations in the world.

"You get on to easy networks, like Support and Logistics, in order to exploit the trust relationship that military departments have between each other, and once you get on to an easy thing, you find out what networks they trust and then you hop and hop and hop, and eventually you think, 'That looks a bit more secretive'," McKinnon told The Guardian.

Even more interestingly, McKinnon claims to have been able to access the US' Space Command network, where he found evidence of an extra terrestrial mission.

"I found a list of officers' names," he claims, "under the heading 'Non-Terrestrial Officers'... What I think it means is not earth-based. I found a list of 'fleet-to-fleet transfers' and a list of ship names. I looked them up. They weren't US Navy ships. What I saw made me believe they have some kind of spaceship, off-planet."

McKinnon faces many charges, some of which are alleging "fraud and related activity in connection with computers" covering the US Army, Navy, Air Force and NASA. Some of the most serious allegations are that he did intentionally cause damage without authorisation by impairing the integrity and availability of data, programs systems and information. If found guilty (and do you really think he won't be?) he faces huge fines and years and years in jail.

Cool Sheesh. Reptilian Nasa officers.

Did you expect otherwise?

Re: NASA hacker speaks out.

Not really. What do you make of Richard Hoagland? & his nasa stuff?

Re: NASA hacker speaks out.

Hoaglund started out to the an excellent researcher and was a pioneer in bringing things forward. Especially the information about the face on Mars and the pyramid complex.  As expected, his whole organization got infiltrated and discredited so that now he looks like a kook.

Since we can't personally go to Mars, and we have only the government to report to us what they want us to know, it will be a long time before we really get the real deal.  I don't know if Hoaglund's info was correct or not.  I'd like to think it was, but that's just being wishful.  It all boils down to what we choose to believe.   As far as that goes, doesn't everything?

There is a new article about this guy here:

Apparently he still hasn't been extradited, but I don't think he has much of a chance.

Re: NASA hacker speaks out.

This guy might have only seen what they wanted him to see.  Think about it, servers left pretty much wide open with blank passwords, etc?  And obviously not being monitored much.  So yeah, sounds like all he really hacked was a decoy machine smile  probably with false info or just whatever propaganda they wanted to push at the time.

Also wouldnt' doubt he was appointed to do this by the very people he hacked... or some other branch, at least.

I agree.  It is the perfect justification to allocate more Government money under the premises of improving security levels on Government computer systems.  It would be very unwise and foolish to believe highly sensitive computers and/or military systems are that vulnerable.  I, like Risen, believe the Government allows certain levels of penetration to execute wahtever agenda they have set forth.  Sure GW is a moron but the people that work behind the curtains are not.

[edit] If this guy truly had access to very sensitive information I believe he would have already disappeared from the face of the Earth.
