Topic: wasn't that Hayden CIA guy confirmed mega-fast?

Remember when they first announced this military man was Bush's pick to head the CIA, I remember hearing this big outcry (or rather, hearing news stories about how there was this big outcry) about having a military guy run the CIA, and how he'd have such a tough fight for confirmation, and all that.  Then, I was surprised when suddenly "confirmed!' by a 78-15 vote, I think!  Didn't know all the debate had finished so soon (don't follow it so much anymore, but figured I'd still hear some about it).  DIdn't the recent Supreme Court picks have a lot, like A LOT, longer period of hearings and debate?  This guy that was supposedly so controversial at first just flew right through!  Why would they tell us he was controversial if there wasn't going to be any controversy?

Pretty simple though, if you read between the lines.

First they stage it up in the news:  "Whoa, this guy is controversial, he'll have a hell of a fight!"
Then he gets through with no struggle at all.

Then the hidden message becomes: "See, almost nobody was against him.  So if you were on that other side of the fence, you're a minority and should be ashamed of yourself for having a problem with it".

I swear, all of life is scripted these days.
