Yahoo News:
Bosnian 'pyramids' bear Giza hallmarks, says Egyptian expert

SARAJEVO (AFP) - An Egyptian geologist who has joined Bosnian researchers unearthing what are thought to be Europe's first pyramids believes they bear similar hallmarks to the ancient structures in his homeland, an official said.

Aly Abd Alla Barakat, of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority, believes large stone blocks found near Sarajevo were man-made and polished in the same way as the pyramids of Giza, said the Bosnian Pyramid Foundation's Mario Gerussi.

"Barakat has also found the presence of a special material linking the stone blocks which is identical to that used for pyramids in Giza," he added.

Barakat had extensive knowledge of the pyramids in Giza and had been recommended for the Bosnian mission by Zahi Hawass, one of the world's foremost Egyptologists, said Gerussi.

Over the next month, he is to work with Bosnian experts at Visoko valley, some 30 kilometres (18 miles) north of Sarajevo, which is believed to be hiding three major pyramids.

Since the digging work began in mid-April on one of the three hills there believed contain pyramids, researchers have unearthed a number of large stone blocks.

Semir Osmanagic, a self-styled Bosnian explorer who initiated the work, says he believes the blocks are part of a pyramid's surface.

Previously, satellite images showed that the hills in the valley cooled a lot faster than their surroundings, proving the substance of the structures was less dense and therefore probably made by men.

Also, the structures are precisely aligned with the four points of the compass.

The excavation work at Visoko, led by the foundation of local archaeologists and volunteers, will last 200 days and is expected to cost some 125,000 euros (160,000 dollars).

While most Bosnians are hopeful the pyramids will be found, a group of the country's archaeologists and historians have dismissed Osmanagic's mission as a "farce."

Initially, I dismissed this story, but after combing through the website put together by the archeological team to keep the public updated (http://www.bosnianpyramid.com), I'm starting to wonder about this...

The archeological team has found some intriguing (!) evidence, and I like how they're presenting their reports and data to the public.

Sounds like "legit" archeologists are incensed this story is getting so much attention.  They say this discovery is impossible because humans didn't have the knowledge and/or skill to build a pyramid like this 20,000 years ago big_smile They've already begun character-assassination (Semir Osmanagic [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semir_Osmanagi%C4%87] the amateur archeologist who made the discovery, wrote a book about the Maya's connection to ancient civilizations who built pyramids on vortexes to balance the Earth's frequency and access other dimensions.) Oh, boy.

If you visit the pyramid website, there's a discrete link to a store selling T-shirts, buttons, mugs etc. This makes me suspicious... but at the same time, the dig is privately funded, so WHATEVER. I would love to see some amateur astro-archeologist knock the socks off the scientific community!

Re: Pyramids found in Europe?

I have been an archeology buff for ages.  There are pyramids all over the world that get dismissd ( or havent been *discovered) because they dont fit in with the time-line that is based on Egyptian antiquities.  Imagine all the wonderful discoveries that are sitting in some dusty museum basement because it doesnt fit their timeline. Many an archeologist has been blackballed or dismissed because of a find. And why if they had the *knowledge/slash skill to build the pyramds at Giza and in Mexico, etc.  thousands of yrs ago *( and we STILL dont have the technology or equipment to this day to replicate it!)why wouldnt they of had it 20,000 yrs ago?  *Forbidden History* by Douglas Kenyon is a great book if anybody is interested prehistoric technologies that have been suppressed. There is a lot more out there than people think.

It's a form of insanity.

Makes absolutely no sense to me. It's counter-intuitive to the entire industry. You'd think that some of these archeologists would decide to come together and break the mould.

I'm hoping because this particular dig is being made public on a blog, perhaps it will get enough attention from the media and fringe archeological groups, that eventually the archeological community will have to address it. That is IF this pyramid is what Osmanagic says it is. (I love how blogs are changing the landscape. It used to be you had to know be semi-proficient in programming to design a website. It's only been in the past few years that blog technology has been made dummy-proof and you can post and organize an amazing amount of information.)

I've almost ordered Kenyon's Forbidden History a few times. Thanks for the website recommendation, Pictus.

Re: Pyramids found in Europe?

Well, obviously there is a reason its hidden from us...they, whoever they are, dont want us to know too much.   I wish I could remember the name of a certain woman archeologist...she had a dig somewhere in southwest united states...she dated the tools and such that she had unearthed at the dig around 60,000yrs ago...the archeological community said that couldnt be, because the articles she dug up were to advanced for so far back...boom...she was dicredited and is shunned by the academia of archeology, no longer allowed to work in her field.  I truly hope that blog will shake things up!

Re: Pyramids found in Europe?

I recently visited Santiago Chile.

There are some structures there with peculiar geometry.

In particular, see 33 23'26.96" S 70 42'40.42" W

Wow. Just goes to show you how much is hidden and unknown left to be discovered again.

Here's the latest from National Geographics:

Recent Twist

In another recent twist, wire reports quoted Aly Abd Alla Barakat, a geologist with the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority.

Barakat, who visited the hill at the behest of Osmanagic's team, told the Associated Press late last week, "My opinion is that this is a type of pyramid, probably a primitive pyramid."

To the AFP, he said: "The white stuff I found between the blocks could be a glue. It is very similar to that we have found in the Giza pyramids."

Critics remain unswayed, and some have questioned Barakat's expertise.

Of the alleged Bosnian pyramid, the European Association of Archaeology's Harding said, "You'd be surprised how many natural stone formations can look as if they are man-made."
