In a masterfully delivered and written speach, Stephen Colbert shows the Truthiness of the situation surrounding this Administration.

11500 people have thanked Stephen Colbert for his wonderful speach given saturday night at the White House Press Correspondents dinner.

Check out the videos. This was wonderful - one of the best things to watch.

Some quotes:

"I stand by this man. I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound -- with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world."

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

That's pretty awesome! I've never heard of Colbert before but he's certainly got some guts to say all that while stood just just a few feet away from Bush!

Bravo Stephen Colbert!

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

.....Saw it, loved it, incredible delivery.

I think a large number of people in attendance were either dumbfounded by Colbert's directness- or just too plain dumb to realize they were being insulted.

A real comedian is one who will not sweat a drop when the discomfort level becomes as thick as it was.

The lack of laughter was very telling, the reactions would have been far different had the Chimp not been present.

I must wonder, who decided on Mr. Colbert for entertainment, and if they now still have a job (or a pulse!)

But I waited so long to see something like this....... I loved every uncomfortable second of it!

Edit:
I watched the full length video, Mark Smith, Associated Press correspondent to the White House was responsible for Colbert's appearance!

I'll bet he regrets it big time.......
AP is one of Colbert's usual targets.

Stephen deserves high honors for this, I hope the vast majority will see this as truth and not satire.

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

Colbert rocks.  I watch his show every night on Comedy Central after the Daily Show (11:30pm EST).  His show has humor at so many levels and covers so many topics.  From Bush to Mind Control, it's there.

A current theory I keep watch for, puts Colbert in the limelight of the NWOers plan to get Americans to turn against Bush.  Long theory short it goes to the end of getting Americans to accept globalism instead of nationalism.  So having him at that dinner works with that theory beautifully.  It's Bush's job to suck it up and take whatever comes his way.  Now I'll go watch the video.

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

>z3n3rg

I have been harboring a very similar theory in my own secret way for some time now.

As I am always looking to see if what I see, what I perceive and what I feel are in any way True... Here is mine:

Others have said that Bush and his Cabal "Hate America" and want to "Destroy America" - and this is something that has been hard for me to understand why or how they would do this...

I was thinking that maybe it's Bush's job to do so horrably, and be such a disaster by being such a "lone gunamn" on the world stage, that it would drive us to the arms of the NWO as we would, just as you stated, seek a global(ist) oversight in governing affairs.

(man there are a lot of Eschelon buzz words in that comment above)

Anyway, I just dont see how Bush can possibly have any delusions (sure, `bush` himself may - but not his handlers) about how farked up of a job they have done (or great in the regard of destroying us)...

Every step towards doom that Bush and his handlers bring the world is so overtly blatant that you have to wonder if they are doing it A) as a test - to see how far we allow them B) that they are truely trying to incite civil war/armegeddon...

WTF has happened to the world.

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

(Following along the theory here...)  Problem, Reaction, Solution.  It's funny watching as they try to create a reaction in Americans.  They've done such a thorough job in placating (and beating down) the public that they have to use people in the media (like Colbert) to show the reaction that Americans won't/can't show.  Last night's show Colbert does his usual reverse humor and says the last thing we want are Americans taking political action.  The whole problem though is once you stand up on the set you will be sent to a free-speach zone, locked up, followed, threatened, or shot in head (MLK)...depending on how much of a following you have.  So I guess they needed someone that can show that it's now safe to say what's on your mind.  I'm fairly certain that most Americans could care less at this point.  If the theory stands, it will be interesting to see if they can wake America back up after putting it to sleep.

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

I suspected something as wrong as soon as I noticed the media started printing negative stuff about Bush.  For years he has been infalable in the eyes of the press, but all the sudden certain people are allowed to take pot shots at the presidents.  The grip around medias throat is too tight for Bush Bashing to be allowed on the syndicates without being on purpose.  So whats the plot then???

BTW I was floored by Colberts speach.  Never have I seen anyone stand up against the crowd like he did on saturday. Awesome!

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

I am a fan of Colbert's in the sam vein as z3n3rg.  When I watched the speech live I thought it was great and I was giddy about how Bush and others were surely pissed off and uncomfortable, but the content of the speech was pretty much the same as what Colbert does on his show four nights a week.  The reaction in the media since has been interesting.  The mainstream press barely mentions him at all and if anything focuses on Bush's lame impersonator routine instead.  A day or two later all the alternative/progressive sites are going on and on about how great Colbert was and how shameful the mainstream press is for not covering him.

Are there larger issues at work here?  Surely, but I doubt Colbert is a straightforward tool of the Illuminati or anything like that.  We seem to be entering a window of change where people are "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore" with the current administration.  It's been long enough since 9/11, they haven't managed to stage another attack (in the U.S. at least), and there have been f*ck-ups galore from the administration so maybe enough of the hoi polloi are realizing how much that guy and his handlers/cronies suck and should be removed from office.

Yes, if the reaction is steered the wrong way the solution could be worse than the problem, but I don't see why it has to be that way.  I personally think late 2000 was another such window and we ended up in this timeline for some reason.  Maybe there's a "Gore" timeline somewhere that seems better, but maybe people are that much more pacified and asleep over there.  Quite a few people seem to be "awake" now, or at least rubbing their eyes and reaching for the coffee.  If rapid change comes we should all be ready to get the real word out.  Isn't it possible we could get a lot more done with Nancy Pelosi as the next president of the United States next year wink?

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

First post so go easy on me!

Having never come across this guy before, I think it is ****ing superb...haven't laughed so much in ages, but it does seem to be a strange choice for a presidential dinner. I'm sure the whole thing was fully vetted beforehand so what are they up to?  Unless he switched the speech at the last moment, that is.

I take my hat off to this bloke....absolutely awesome.

Not as clever as I think I am

Novice, welcome, and this isn't directed so much at you but to everyone who think's Stephen's routine on Saturday must necessarily be part of some nefarious design.  In this case I actually don't think it was vetted beforehand, at least not "fully".  As was mentioned earlier, the person who made the decision for Colbert to be the keynote entertainment was allegedly an AP reporter who is currently president of the organization.  From what I have read this decision was made sometime in late January.  And the organization in this case is basically the White House Press Corps; from what I understand anyone who reports from the White House can be or is automatically a member.  Sure there are some bigwig influences who lean on them but I don't think there's any overt power structure telling them what to do, at least not on the level of who can speak at their annual dinner and what they can say.

Of course they wouldn't have Michael Moore be the headliner but that's what makes it interesting to me; I think this is a pretty hilarious case of TPTB and especially the current right-wing elite power structure failing to understand irony, sarcasm, and satire well enough to prevent the very public mocking that went on.  They have a vague idea that Colbert is a liberal pretending to be a conservative but most of them have probably never watched his show, and if they have they probably didn't "get" nearly as much of it as people who think for themselves on a regular basis.  So maybe they knew something was coming but had no idea it would be that bad.  The real question is, how is any of this going to have any impact on anything?  Keep watching...

No, but that's what makes this so good.
They'd have been much better off with Michael Moore.

Very possible Mr. Moore would have had much more ammunition on one or two key topics.

Stephen Colbert in comparison launched a veritable blitzkrieg, an all out assault on so many fronts.

I really do think Michael Moore would have revealed far less, in hindsight I imagine Mark Smith of AP would be in agreement.

This has the feel of a completely unexpected attack, I do not think this was carried out to further any "agendas" as far as exposing an alternative entity (NWO) for us to rush into the arms of.

The possibility does exist, though.

When Mr. Colbert did his analogy of the nerve endings in the gut, I saw that as cornering the Prez in such a way I've never seen before.

He was speaking about truth, and that, for me was the most powerful moment in his wonderful tirade.

In front of 2,700 attendees, and the world, Bush was boxed in, absolutely nowhere to run, and no way of faking his reaction.

Exactly the situation his handlers have tried so diligently to insulate him from.

The media reaction to Colbert I did anticipate, scared little kittens.

"Too over the top"
"Not funny"

Dear media, that's reality.
Deal with it.

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

The only comedian I can imagine who would have done a better job than Stephen Colbert would have been Bill Hicks.

That man would be going mental on stage these days if he was still alive.  Look at how passionate and angry he got back in the late 80's and early 90's over things, he would probably have a stroke on stage these days.

Agreed.  Bill Hicks kind of opened me up to some of this stuff.  Hick's hated Bush Sr. I can't imagine what he'd be doing with Rove, Cheney, and GWB.

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

lol A friend emailed me a Colbert interview with Eleanor Holmes Norton. Doesn't matter if you know who Norton is, this is hilarious. Colbert is quick, witty, dry... absolute genius.

I wish I could embed the youtube movie into this post. Go here if you're interested.

(Fast-forward to 1:51 to skip the intro shtick and get to the interview.)

Re: Stephen Colbert Stands up to the media and the President

That interview was terrific. Is it true that her voting record shows she NEVER votes? So an elected official never voting seems to me like one who is actually blocking/impeding the democratic process. WTF
