The fact that spiritual writers DO frequently warn against using marijuana, and DO NOT warn against Taco Bell, Mountain Dew, or even tap water (I had to throw a new one in there just for fun!), is suggestive of a belief that marijuana is somehow "more" dangerous than any of the other three.

I think it is potentially more dangerous and also more beneficial on the whole.  Some people abuse it and let it make them docile and paranoid, or worse, dumb and happy and they get what they get out of it.  It's probably more of a poison for them and their lesson to learn not to dwell on it.  I'll admit it almost makes me too lazy to post and too paranoid to argue about it but I'm doing it anyway wink

And I don't follow Stuart in that I've never really read any of his stuff, but the quote "If you smoke pot you've got no chance" could be taken so many different ways by itself.  It could mean you have no chance while your smoking it, or it could mean no chance if you've smoked it ever but I somehow doubt he means the latter.  And chance at what?  Ascending to 4th density or attaining some temporary enlightenment?  Could I still do it later when I'm completely sober?  I'd rather do things like that sober anyhow.

I find that when I smoke pot I'm drawn to the woods and nature in general. In these moments I can always feel the lifeforce surround me. Its very spiritual and the weed high is far surpassed by the energy of nature. The weed seems to be the key to unlocking that door, for me.

I know what you mean.  I just switched from a "mostly country" to a "mostly city" environment and I miss peaceful easy getting-in-touch nature walks big time.  But it can also expand focus on a city environment.  All the follies of man, great and small, the benevolent people and the mean beasties with nothing better to do than mess with you periodically surrounding me.  Or is it all in my head?  Isn't everything in some way?  The map is not the territory and all that?  It can be a useful plant for collecting different sets of information.

I hope it works!  It's a funny song, and guaranteed to make you smile.  smile

(Edit....I just noticed that if you go to click on the song with the Mega Upload link, an ad pops up featuring um, scantily clad chicks.  If you like that sort of thing, cool, if not, sorry, I didn't know it would do that!  haha)

Damn!  There's some setting preventing me from both downloading the link AND viewing the scantily clad chicks!  I'm at my parents house and I'm strictly forbidden from changing settings, reconfiguring hardware, or reformatting hard drives and installing new operating systems. . .

Guess I'll just have to be patient. . .

Re: Pot Smoking and Other Spiritual Hazards

Although this thread is actually about pot I want to share some observations I made with drugs on my own. I smoked weed some time ago and it opened up really new ways of perception. As far as I can judge now, it had no detrimental side-effects on my spiritual path… but who knows. I have not used it for about a decade now.
Tobacco has the effect of making my etheric extremely shaky and somehow contracted – with the positive effect of being mentally contracted (concentrated) too. When smoking a cig while being very sensitive it almost feels like an earthquake on the etheric plane. So I bet, smoking tobacco is not the best choice. Alcohol does exactly the opposite of tobacco – it expands the etheric and makes it very "light" and transparent…. Maybe therefore it is called “spiritus" wink I think these opposing effects make a cigarette so adorable after having drunk a glass of beer or wine. It balances the effect of alcohol. I made an interesting observation after having been quite drunk last New Years Eve: it made me extremely empathic. I was able to sense other persons emotions and physical perceptions extremely clear. But anyway, I think the long-term effects of regular use are surely not beneficial.
The most detrimental “drug" I personally know is sugar. Sounds strange, but it makes my etheric completely weak and heavy when used regularly. Additionally it messes with my heart chakra. It seems to wither totally when using sugar regularly. As a consequence I did eliminate it as far as possible from my food intake.

A man is born gentle and weak. At his death he is hard and stiff.
Green plants are tender and filled with sap. At their death they are withered and dry.
Therefore the stiff and unbending is the disciple of death. The gentle and yielding is the disciple of life.

Re: Pot Smoking and Other Spiritual Hazards

You guys are funny.  My soul was laughing it's ass off.  That is until it started coughing up a lung.  Nothing nastier than soul lung butter.  My soul was like, look what you done to me.  Now, I'll never become a soul.  Wait...er...um...what were we talking about.  Crap, now my short-term soul-memory is on the fritz.  I'm like the only soul walking around heaven looking over it's shoulder wondering if the angel cops will notice my soul-eyes are red.  I need some 5d visine.  Alright Alright, straighten up here comes God.  Whew.  That was close.  Good thing this smoke blends in with the clouds.

All seriousness aside, smoking weed for 14 years as often as I could afford it has made me uber-paranoid.  I have the overwhelming feeling that the whole world is out to help me.  I just can't get rid the feeling.  It's like everything is teaching me stuff.  I'm constantly in fear of learning new things around every corner.  Why oh why did I smoke so much weed?!  If only someone had told me that drugs were bad.  If only there were some government, book writers, or anyone that would have told me.  Why didn't anyone care enough to try to save me from myself?  Now, I'm doomed.  Doomed, I tell you!

But he does warn against smoking pot!  Of all things.  Eating flesh once a week is O.K. but smoking a plant once a week is not?

Maybe he's seen that one has more detrimental affects than the other....?   Maybe once a week meat eating is in fact, less worse than smoking pot, every day, seven days a week.

Doesn't seem so strange to me, but, that's just me.

(And you may not smoke pot seven days a week, but there are those who do.  In fact one of them used to post here at NR...and his seven day a week pot habit showed in his posts! woowee...but, I digress!  haha)

Sigh.  I didn't mean to "pick on" Stuart.  Yes his comment was the last straw, but it was precisely because it came from him.  I LOVE his writing because his perspectives are some of the least limiting out there.  That's EXACTLY WHY when I read that statement, I was like, "God Almighty!  They've even got Stuart Wilde on the "Drugs Are Bad" train.  Of all people, Stuart Wilde!"

Well, here it is:   You're never going to agree with anybody's viewpoints 100%.  Just because you like Stuart's other work does not make him a God-like guru who can never do or say anything wrong that you might disagree with.

To name two Stuie beliefs that I don't agree with:

- Dissolve the ego and subjegate yourself under everybody else;
- There's nothing wrong with chopping down all the trees and for humans to build build build up in the name of progress;   Global warming is pure bunk.

I give a big "X!" to both of those points.

But I love his other stuff, so, whatever.

Stuart's just a dude, like you.   The problem arises when people forget that and then got all GASP!  Shocked!  when out pops some belief from left field that they don't agree with.

I wrote to another NR'er last year that I LOVE LOVE the fact that he says things that I disagree with!   I love it!  It means he's human.

It sounds to me like you expect that you're supposed to never find something that he says which disagrees with your own philosophy.  And I suspect you may have encountered this disappointing "slap with reality" in other authors you may have admired, who turned out in the end to have flaws and faults and personality traits that you don't agree with and opinions you disagree with...?   Just guessing.  Could totally be wrong here.  But it is a recurring problem with many people who tend to put their favorite authors on pedestals.   These people are never allowed to be human, never allowed to show their flaws, or have differing "out there" opinions.

tenetnosce wrote:

lol So what you're saying is that I could have written the same rant and substituted anybody else's name and you would have been like, "Right on T!"?  That's too funny, and I only partially believe it.  wink

Well, no need for the sarcasm, tenetnosce, because I wasn't being sarcastic to you.

And yes, I did agree with you.  You, and others are right about not overly focusing on the physical.

But regarding "inserting in somebody else's name", since you asked..........I "nitpicked" your opening rant not solely because "it was about Stuart Wilde", but because what you were criticizing about Stuie wasn't entirely valid.

Had you inserted somebody else's name, somebody recognizable to me, whose beliefs I'm aware of, and had you written things that were equally wrong/skewed, and which were twisting things around, then YES, I would have challenged you just the same.  And NO I would not have been "Right on T."   roll  Not to be rude, but I have yet to get on here and post "right on!" to anything you've written.  Just not my style.   And it bugs me when I see others doing that.  Seems, oh, I don't know....kind of ass kissing.  Like they don't have the guts to say certain things themselves, and can only wiggle up to others who do have the guts, and then pant their enthusiastic agreement.  wink  "Me too!  Me too!" "Right on!"  "High five!"  Just not me.   But I digress.  Topic for another thread I suppose.   "Message board politics and psychology, 101!"

If somebody's being misrepresented, when faulty logic is being used, when things are being twisted and skewed in a minor or major way, then I'm there to set it right.   That goes for defending myself, you, other NR posters, ANYbody who may be getting the short end of the stick.

Maybe I can be the world's first "logic super hero."  wink

"Logic Woman."   On a mission to right the wrongs created by skewed perceptions and faulty logic.

Why? There's no fighting or negativity going on.  There's a discussion.

That usually makes people uncomfortable.  Too many people want things to be light and breezy, skimming the surface, airy fairy.  I'm not a surface skimmer.  !  Already several people have commented on things, seeming nervous or uncomfortable.  This is absolutely nothing compared to some true arguments that have gone on.  This is just conversation.  I can totally envision if we were all in the same room together, loafing around on lounge chairs having a lively conversation, everybody interjecting with their ideas and opinions and personal experiences and stories.   Meanwhile, zr3x3g gets up and sticks a disc in the CD player and in the background we here Afroman, and then I add "Let's Go Smoke Some Pot" to the mix, tenetnosce has got his beer...you show up with the bong.  wink  Good times!  Come on.

At least....that's how I see it.  !  haha

Funny thing.....this isn't even y'all arguing....it's just you all'z pack of meme's!

Us human seems to come complete with an automated response about two things....Religion, and Drugs.   lol!

Weed:  You can do(or not do) the same shit, just with a lighter mind.  With a tradeoff of having tasks being just a little more physically challenging to complete.  Making you slow down and think.

It convinces you more times than not to do what you REALLY wanna do.  You have to try extra hard to bullshit yourself.

High... you can only do what you love.

Weed helps the people who are real to themselves.....while hindering/stopping the people who have yet to be real.

(If you need to get some grunt work done that you don't love.....don't get high.  Simple as that.)

I'll tell you this....You ain't ever met a fake person that said weed was their drug of choice.
