Topic: The V-Tail Doctor Killer

Sometime in the recent history of modern aviation, a company called Beechcraft produced a popular single engine aeroplane know as the " Bonanza." It featured a unconventional but not unheard of V-shaped tail configuration also know as the Rudder-Vator which did the combined duty of standard rudder and elavator control surfaces.
Sometime also within our recent earth history, this plane became popular with many Doctors who had gone off and gotten their private pilots license because they thought it would be cool to have their own plane. Its pretty common that many private pilots get trained and test in an aircraft such as a Cessna 150 or something like it. The Cessna is nothing like the Beechcraft in some key ways, namely the Beechcraft is a MUCH more powerful aircraft with different flight charactersitics and a different operational envelope. All that having been said, its not rocket science that aviation is VERY unforgiving of the slightest mistakes made when behind the yoke.
It then came about in the history of our Earth and of Doctors in particular that their fancy became directed to this particular plane and MANY of them found ways to get their hands on one.
Then....many went out and got themselves killed in the very same plane....which became known in aviation circles as the V-tailed Doctor Killer. I know a whole pack of dentists that went down in one and they are all DEAD of course. One of these guys was the kind of adult that looks into the eyes of a child with malevolence because his life must have sucked so bad. A real predator and control freak. I knew him when I was only a child and remember the weirdness of his ways.
I knew more than one dentist who operated what amounted to  a chamber of horrors.
Maybe I'll tell the story one day.
After speaking to a friend of mine who used to fly Helicopters in Viet nam I did some research on the subject. At one point I came across an interesting quote which went something like this....
Doctors don't think they are better than God, they think they ARE GOD. I had to have a good laugh about this because in many cases its absolutely true. They are some of the biggest egos walking the planet next to lawyers that is, and they think their authority is without question, I guess because so many people fail to stand up to them and call them on anything....not to mentions taking everything they hear from such smarties as the gospel.
Not to generaize, I know there are a few good souls out there but the trade has become totally corrupt and it has to go PERIOD.
Well as it turns out, because many of them are smart enough to pass the left brain part of the aviation muster, they on some level, at least many of them....dont't have what it takes to make much of a pilot. IN fact most of them have no business flying at all.
The last tale I heard of  V-tail with a Doc flying it was something like this:
He came in High and Hot, bounced once, bounced again, forced the plane into the runway
hard and finally the nosewheel collapsed....prop hit the concrete...add one sudden stopped engine to the list of things broken...no injuries luckily. EST I think about 24K repair bill.
So goes the saga of the v-tail Doctor killer.

Re: The V-Tail Doctor Killer

AB I think we need to reinstate this doctrine across the board

Re: The V-Tail Doctor Killer

I would not say I am about going back
this we cannot do
I expect we can creatively move forward
