Topic: Urine

Urine makes a super organic fertilser for your crops, being very high in nitrogen and trace  elements and is a secret ingredient for many growers and gardeners
Dilute 1 part urine to 10 parts water.
The early morning pee is best as it the richest normally.
Pee on your compost heap to ernich it and break it down more rapidly.

Store some Urine in a dark glass jar for a month or so until it starts to smell of amonia which makes a super glass cleaner and first aid for insect bites and stings.

Ladies Wash your face with fresh urine for young looking skin as an alternative to the chemical creams. A treatment for acne, excema, hives etc.
Urine makes a great burn remedy too, soaking a bandage in urine and wrapping round the burn.
Many woman have got rid of stretch marks with regular urine applications.

Drinking urine for health problems seems to have a lot of anecdotal support but people like Stewart Swerdlow (disinfo?) say its deadly to drink.I think he is exagerating somewhat, i have drank it in the past to see what the fuss was about and it is something i would consider again if i were ill.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

I don't think so.

The day I splash my own piss on my face will be the day that......well I don't know, but that will be some day, let me tell you!!

For great looking skin, skip the splash of urine and go straight for the Queen Helene oatmeal and honey face scrub:

http://www.queenhelene.com/skincaremaskscrub2.html

and finish with Alba Botanicals green tea and aloe oil free moisturizer.

Great stuff!

And that's what ladies use to wash their faces.  Not urine!

(although wouldn't the ultimate irony be to find that there's "urea" listed in the ingredients....?!   gasp!  Now I'm afraid to look!!  big_smile  )

(oh noooooooo....i just checked..........what in the frickity frack is "Diazolidinyl Urea" ??!?  is that pee?? and from what animal???  ahhhhhhhhh!)

Re: Urine

Urea is a common ingredient  in many skin products.
Better to use your own IMO if we can overcome our cultural brainwashing and taboos.

Edit it appears that DIAZOLIDINYL UREA is made synthetically but can release formaldahyde over 10 degrees C.

Imidazolidinyl Urea and Diazolidinyl Urea
Used as a preservative, this ingredient can cause contact dermatitis. Also sold under the names of Germall II or Germall 115. Releases formaldehyde at just over 10° and is considered toxic. The CIR concludes that the ingredient is safe in cosmetics

From a quick investigation it seems urea is mainly synthetic these days.

Well, it's probably less to do with brainwashing and taboos and more to do with safety instinct.  People, and most animals, usually avoid playing in their own waste matter.  That's one of those ingrained instincts.   It's not natural to want to drink one's own urine.  Smells that don't appeal to the human nose are by design - it's to keep us away from substances that contain harmful bacteria.  It's not an across-the-board rule, but it applies in most cases.   And let's face it - pee does not smell good.  Walking past an urban city alley that reeks of homeless people's pee just doesn't smell good.   It makes the nose wrinkle and the face turn away.  Why?  Because it's a harmful substance.

I wouldn't try "urine therapy", ever, no matter how many acelodes it receives.  Call me brainwashed and the victim of taboos, but I say it's human instinct.  And there are better ways to fight bacteria and moisturize your face.

Re: Urine

When I was a kid we used to play in the woods and when stung by a bee we would pee on the ground and then apply the wet dirt on the affected area.  It was a known rule and we applied it without asking questions.   Thirty something years later I am reading about it in NR.   By the way, it did work!

Lyra,
I cannot help but to imagine your facial expression when you saw the word "Urea" on the list of ingredients.   It would have been a moment to capture with a precious photo.

I could understand applying it topically to a wound...but drinking it?  And moisturizing the face with it?  ew!  big_smile

[edit - this reminds me of guy who was a friend of one of my old guy roommates - he had a major stinky feet problem and so tried peeing on them to cure the problem...which I'd never heard of at the time...but alas, it didn't work.  I just remember thinking, huh...peeing on your feet...well whatever works dude! big_smile)

[Edit 2- I just realized -- the fact that urine can smell downright gross...and yet, can heal wounds......so the bad smell / harmful substance theory doesn't apply in a black and white way here.  The thing that I've encountered when I've read about this whole subject in places like Nexus Magazine and whatnot is that you have to be very careful when you do this sort of thing.  You can't just like, wake up, pee in a cup and gulp it down for breakfast.  You can get sick.  It's one of those "proceed with caution" deals.]

Re: Urine

Form Wikipedia:

Other Uses
The ancient Romans used urine as a bleaching agent for cleaning clothes and even isolated reports as a teeth whitener (supposedly originating in what is now Spain).
In Siberia, to communicate with the spirits, the Koryak people drank the urine of another who has consumed fly agaric (an entheogenic mushroom that is occasionally fatally poisonous), or of one who has in turn drunk urine of like source. Sometimes, the urine of reindeer that had eaten fly agaric would even be drunk. The potency of the mushroom does not decrease significantly until around the seventh drinker, because the muscimol from fly agaric is essentially unaltered after being secreted from the kidneys. Not only does this conserve the mushrooms, but it also eliminates unpleasant side-effects caused by muscarine, which does not pass on through urine. Likewise, reindeer licked the ground where there is urine containing fly agaric from the religious ritual. Despite these rumors, it is highly doubtful that any animal would eat the Amanita mushroom because its red and white markings let animals know that it is a poisionous mushroom.
Urine has applications in gardening and agriculture as a fertiliser. Gardeners often recommend a dilution of 10-15 parts water to one of urine for application to pot plants and flower beds during the growing season; pure urine can chemically burn the roots of some species. Urine typically contains more than 50% of the nitrogen and phosphorus and potassium content of whole sewage, and is widely considered as good as or better than commercially-available chemical fertilisers or stabilised sludge from sewage plants. Urine is also used in composting to increase the nitrogen content of the mulch, accelerating the composting process and increasing its final nutrient values.
In Japan, urine used to be sold to farmers who would process it into fertilizers.
Shipwrecked or people otherwise adrift at sea for long periods often resort to drinking their urine when no rainwater is available, seawater being unsuitable. People stranded in deserts often also drank urine to prevent life-threatening dehydration from setting in. However, this desperate measure achieves little to delay death from thirst, particularly if it causes vomiting.
During World War I, Canadian soldiers without gas masks during a gas attack urinated on cloth and wore the cloth over their mouths and noses. Upon contact with the urine, the fabric of the mask produced a chemical reaction that turned the fabric impervious to chemical attacks.
Urine has also been historically used as an antiseptic. In times of war, when other antiseptics were unavailable, urine, the darker the better, was utilized on open wounds to kill bacteria.
[edit]
History
The yellow color of urine was previously thought to come from gold. Alchemists spent much time trying to extract gold from urine, and this led to some interesting discoveries such as white phosphorus, which was discovered by the German alchemist Hennig Brand in 1669 when he was distilling fermented urine. In 1773 the French chemist Hilaire Rouelle, discovered the organic compound urea by boiling urine dry

Oh no, it wasn't that dramatic. wink   I kind of suspected there could be urea in it, so I braced myself.

I did think this excerpt was cute though, it made me smile when I read it:

And this was actually pretty fascinating:

!  Kinda neat....

All the things we didn't know about urine.  Fascinating.  Who knew!   But, I'm still not going to drink it though...or use it as moisturizer!!!  big_smile

Re: Urine

I've tried it all and it works!

Yes it makes your skin look GREAT.

Gently gets rid of warts and moles(it can take several months).

You don't have to drink it, just rub it in your skin.

If you decide to try drinking it it's best to be on a vegetarian and mostly raw food diet with very little tobacco, no coffee, recreational or prescription drugs, or alchohol.

Fertility drugs are made from urine(female of course) and an expensive heart attack medicine is made from an ingredient in urine ( they actually collect the urine from commercial portable toilets). Who knows, drinking urine may prevent a heart attack as it thins the blood and dissolves blood clots .

Rubbing it on varicose veins shrinks and strenghtens veins and yes, it fades stretch marks and other scars.
It does not smell bad as long as you let it completely absorb into skin before putting on clothes and drink plenty of water to keep it diluted.

I'm talking from experience- I've tried all the remedies and so far they've all worked.

I've just recently started washing my face with it because I have a friend who has done this all her life, she is 46 and looks 17!

Re: Urine

Well, I had to think about it. I haven't tried it, yet. But, then millions of Americans drink it everyday.  Some, I have heard, for a long time have used it to condition hair or even cook with it. It's the labeling that is misleading, though. It's called (((((BUDWEISER)))))!!
Ahahahahah!

Fresh urine is not smelly at all as long as one drinks enough water and follows a good diet and i can vouch for the fact that urine can get rid of stretch marks and scar tissue and as a burn remedy.
Why would people want to blindly have synthetic urea when their own bodies make the natural stuff i just don't know. Dissasociation i guess. Amniotic fluid we all grow in the womb is basically pee.
I read of a case of a woman who was on kidney dialasis got well again by drinking her own pee over a course of time.
People still confuse feacal matter with urine, while the latter has proven medicinal uses they tend to be tarred with the same brush as we have been bought up to think of urine as a useless and unhygenic when in truth it is a  natural germ killer with many therapuetic uses.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

Re: Urine

PS men should wash their penis rather than their hands after going to the toilet for a pee as their are far more germs on hands than on willy's smile
