Topic: Pointy Ears

So what's the deal with the attribute of pointy-ears in numerous references to the 'logical', 'superior', and even perhaps 'magical' race?

Elfs - Mythical - Legend - Fantasy
Eldars - ""
Vulcans - Star Trek

Anyone know any other references to the race with pointy-ears as a facial feature?

Elfs are supposedly immortal. If the C's were asked a question about immortality, they would probably point at any entities above 3D.

Vulcans are just noted as having enormous life-spans (compared to Humans).

All I know is, they look good. What good is an elf without pointy ears? Any former Elf Quest fans here? As I kid I'd draw alot of pointy eared elves, and I love them so!
And your Spock: what good is he without these ears. These things have a life of their own.

As a kid, sometimes I wished I had them. I loved the bald vulcan lady in one of those S.Trek films. It was a bad film, but she looked very good.

She wasn't Vulcan. I think she was of a feminine race that have high-levels of sexual-energies. In her case, she was celibate so she could serve as a regular crew-member and not overwhelm the male-members of the crew...

I'm not a trekkie, but I watched a lot of T.V. when I was a kid... heh heh

I believe she was a romulan. (Romulus and Remus -probably not the correct spelling- two children raised by a wolf in roman mythos) *wonder if that makes the Vulcans Remulans.. caughs*

I guess the races weren't too developed back then, but it wouldn't make sense for her to be Romulan.

Romulans split up with the Vulcans genetically so they could embrace their emotions. She was very much a different story.

Hmm. Oh! I was thinking of the Undiscovered Country. Excuse me. ^_^

I think the one being refered to is the one with Spock's Brother thinking he'd 'found god'? Something like that. There were a lot of 'misfit' characters in that, all of which were totally cool. (Why was that the bad movie anyway?)

Well, I didn't think it was bad, but it was too "freeform" for alot of critics, who want a more hard-driving plot, I guess. Beats me! I was a teen when I saw it, and I actually liked it alot.

Also as a kid, I drew this comic called Coora who was a bald space alien heroine.
Again, people lauphed, but I liked her. She had a postive crystal on her forehead and on one hand. I got the idea for the hand one from "Logan's Run." I was so into Star Wars, too, and any kind of exotic space creatures!
