Topic: And your point is...?

CNN.com headline:  Map suggests Chinese fleet beat Columbus to America.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/0 … index.html

Hmmm ... interesting article -- will history be rewritten?  Are we really Chinese?  This should make for a great diversion ... interesting how this discovery is being used to show that the Chinese are not always invaders ---

Which is obviously true since they now manufacture everything you can buy in America (well, almost) and very few comment "how weird is this?" --

Re: And your point is...?

China this and China that, Chinese language being offered in American highschools, and now maybe Chinese "discovered" America.  Get ready for your new boss.

Re: And your point is...?

Obviously, someone "discovered America" before the Chinese since there have been inhabitants there for millions of years. And what about the Vikings? Weren't they there before Colombus? Who "discovered" China?:

Re: And your point is...?

I think the very idea of repeatedly claiming some 'discovery' of North America necessitates some mind-op aspect in that it alwasy seems to assume the non-existence of any native peoples. Oh they 'discovered' it for the eyes of the world population which 'really matters' - nevermind that the natives had inhabited the continent for untold centuries! Like they're trying to erase their very existence from history (or the minds of those living in present).

But I do see your point in the China claim - that it would seem a similar mind-op in favour of the Chinese and some claim that may be laid on the continent.

Here's a bit o' confustion for ya - if the Annasazi poeples of North America built their civilization as a mirror of Orion similar to the Giza plateau in Egypt, wouldn't this suggest they are of some same astrological descendency as the Egyptians? -

http://www.exegesis.nu/pics/star_cities.jpg

Assuming those Europeans who conquered these natives have some esoteric connection to Egypt to the point of preserving the Egyptian tradition of it's 'Gods' and carrying these traditions over and into their own culture in the form of countless secret societies, why then would they not know (or seem to know or even care) that these native peoples seem to have the same astrological descendency and therefore proceed to obliterate their entire culture? Why would they not recognize? What is the real connection or difference between these two opposing forces??

I am as is Void.

Re: And your point is...?

Call me silly for being surprised by this information, and even call me silly for posting this here, but did y'all know that there are more Chinese food restaurants in the US than all of the US fast food restaurants put together (McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.)? Even given that Chinese food is not the #1 favorite ethnic food in the US (Italian is), there are more.

I'm sorry, even though I read this just yesterday, I'm now unable to locate the web page where this info came from for reference, but this was one of the pieces of info presented in the article. If I find the article again I'll post the link.

Re: And your point is...?

Maybe this is irrelevant, but I think it's interesting to note that, from what I have noticed, there is alot of sugar and MSG in western Chinese food. I think there is a correlation here between this and what Aeundove has added. If that sounds rediculous, then think about how many cultures have been subversivied through food and drink alone, or in addition to other means, through the use of various substances. Not that sugar and MSG, or anything else you can think of, is original to Chinese foods, but they are used extensively. Correlate that with the topic at hand and I see it as a relevant consideration.
The introduction of sugar alone to the diet of many established cultures, past and present, has contributed to the decay of health and what was once a thriving subsistance on the land and a strong community orientation. Sugar, and MSG, is very addictive having a weakening affect on the body and mind creating illnesses and dependency upon it. Must have more have that (insert food of choice)! I hope you all can see the connections I am making here without having to go into a lot more detail. At any rate, combine a weakened mind and body with extensive advertising and propaganda people are very liable to persuasion and association.
Is it any wonder that a lot of people go first for something sweet or containing high amounts of sweeteners? What are alot of people always trying to find a substitute for? It isn't vegetables, whole grain, healthy meats, or herbals. Those are flat out sidestepped in favor of that rich sauce or sugary drink ( frequently containing flouride).
This stems from a recent study and progressive removal of sugar and sweetened foods from my diet and the effect it seems to be having on my day to day mindset and overall physical balance in addition to the observations I have made on the society I live in. So, take my 2 cents at that, if you will, but maybe consider why Chinese food is so popular with the inexpensive and extensive buffets. Please don't take this as "conspiracy" mindset against Chinese peoples. THAT would be ridiculous!

I should add that maybe not nationally, but Chinese food is more popular and prevelant than Italian here in NW Arkansas.

Re: And your point is...?

Okay...big blushing embarrasment on my part here hmm , I got my supposed facts wrong in my post.

My mate had read this info off the article to me, and I didn't remember what he had said correctly. This was why I had tried to relocate the article, so I could make sure I got it right. I asked him again tonight to verify the info, and it was that there are more Chinese restaurants than McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendys combined, not all of the fast food chains in the US. So sorry.

At any rate, you make a good point about the MSG and sugar in western Chinese food, thook. I was a professional cook for many years, and otherwise cook all the time, even Chinese style I cook...and well wink . Never once as a pro cook was MSG part of any recipes ever used, and I don't have MSG in my herb pantry. Never, ever use the stuff, and my Chinese food tastes very good. Even the recipes found on the Internet for Chinese dishes don't include MSG as an ingredient. Simply put, good food doesn't require MSG or sugar to make it good.

Soooo...to confirm this concern of your's, thook--

No, it's not a "conspiracy," per se, they're just using out of the ordinary tactics to keep people coming back to their restaurants, instead of relying on quality and talent. wink

Yeah, this is true in that respect. I agree with all points. And I'm not saying Chinese restaurants are consciously and directly feeding the masses sugar and/or msg for anything other than bringing the customer back time and again. They're just another cog on the wheel. But, on another level, if you take a wider view in relation to ways and means of manipulating people, if there are indeed those who would be determined to make a culture docile and braindead, among a host of many other known sideffects of overconsumption of sugar (you may include insanity as one of them), then something as simple as sugar that is widely accepted as a normal part of the diet would be a convenient and efficient way to do it. Additionally, MSG in it's many forms is known to have some of the same effects of sugar, and Chinese restaurants (and maybe not many) are not the only one's using it. But, look at how commonly sugar itself is used in almost everything that is eaten, homeade or prepackaged, and, even more, how much it is overlooked as a major source of poor mental and physical health. Seriously, most people have no idea how much of it they actually eat because it is in things they aren't even aware of. There is so much more I feel inspired to say about it, but I have to bite my fingers to keep within the topic of this thread.
So, with the usual tactics employed to slyly get people to accept something that is as obviously irrelevant or possibly untrue as the Chinese discovering America before Columbus you have to make them stupid and lacking in memory. Sugar will do that. Moreover, make something popular and widely accepted and who will question it, speaking of the majority of preoccupied and otherwise stupified, mentally dull Americans. No finger pointing, I have dirt on my hands, too! But, as I stated, I have been reading about sugar specifically and how much it affects people and I started putting some pieces together about society and how easily it's led and why. Not to mention why so many people can't seem to get genuinely healthy even when they have switched to say natural foods or what is sold as natural foods. Anyone ever noticed how many health nuts seem to be "wacked out". Someone in another thread made mention of this observation. Anyway, Auendove, when you posted about the popularity, or prevalence, of Chinese restaurants a bell went off. Sh@t, if TPTB are up to something with China in relation to economy and power struggles, this could be part of the way they are going to or are doing it. Part of the sh@t stained yellow snowball they will try and roll over people. It will be sugar coated. Am I making this all clear enough? I would hope this doesn't all seem like rambling, preposterous associations.
You see, I've been exposed to some info about the declining American dollar, and how many countries are backing out, or considering doing so, on the dollar. With a larger scope in mind to bring this country to it's financial knees and without any recourse, who the hell is going to bail us out? Maybe China considering they already control a large part of this country's economy. And how are they going to get people to accept it or welcome it unless it's "sweet to the taste" and people are accustomed to it? Mind-op!!??
