Topic: Help. Need movie title

Silverfox is old.  This has been great in that she has had many neat life experiences, e.g. being a contestant on "Jeopardy!", learning a lot about nature/Gaia, sitting in on Jane Roberts' classes briefly, working as teacher/professor/therapist/psychic, etc etc etc..   However, this also means the dang computer bank upstairs is almost full...

Young'uns, please help me out. A few years ago, I saw a really neat movie...took place in the desert, a man almost dying of thirst, being saved by  a leopard which showed him a pool of water.  He fell in love/identification with the leopard.  What is the name of this flick???

In exchange, I will say the best movie of my long life is HAROLD AND MAUDE. The clothes are dated but nothing else is.  If you have never seen this movie, Starbabies, please do.  Watch from the opening credits.  Pee first so you don't need to get up.  And, sorry about the bad prints; it's never been colorized...

"Passion in the Desert"

I googled "movie about leopard man in desert thirst" and ouila!  I found it!   As soon as I read your description, I immediately knew what you were talking about even though I never saw the movie.....I remembered the box, and remembered "It has that dude that looks like Yanni on it!"   big_smile big_smile big_smile

Right on.  You are not alone.

Silverfox,

I do not watch much TV, but about a week ago, I wanted to force myself to take it easy and relax.  Lo and behold THIS MOVIE  was on!!!!  I watched it uninterrupted from begininning to end.   It was pretty intriguing, and wished I had taped it to share with my sister.

Re: Help. Need movie title

silverfox, last night I tracked down "Harold and Maude" because you'd mentioned it....figured if you think the movie is the best movie you've ever seen in your life then it was worth investigating!!  smile  I woke up this morning in an awful depressive funk, feeling really down about things, lost, confused, so much that I had to jump out of bed earlier than I planned to, trying to shake it off.  Decided to watch the movie right then instead of waiting til tonight, and it turned out to be exactly what I needed at that exact moment.   Now I'm not so sure what I would have done had I not had the movie on hand!   My day probably would have tanked, that's for sure.  The movie was absolutely AMAZING.  I'm going to buy it, actually.  It was way better than I thought it would be....really funny in parts, really touching, so well done, and the message is so important.  It's about living life to the fullest and really appreciating every moment you have here, and just having that lust for life and positive attitude.   Anyway, thanks for the recommendation, and if others out there haven't seen it yet, then go track this one down!!!  You won't be disappointed!!  smile  (have to add though....I think the movie would have been totally perfect had Harold and Maude NOT actually "hooked up" and done the deed.....you don't see that part in the movie...they keep that whole aspect of things low key so it's always tasteful and not offenseive or gross or anything...yet it is understood that they hooked up, and I think it just would have been better had they kept things more chaste!  More pure and innocent....oh well!)

Re: Help. Need movie title

Hi manyeagles, glad you liked Passion in the Desert.

Lyra, if Harold and Maude had not hooked up/shacked up, then the completeness and realness of what they felt would have been less.  Yes??  No?  Chaste is easy...I speak from experience. Or maybe I'm just a dirty ole lady.  Georgia O'Keefe is one of my heroes, spent the last decade of her life w/ a guy 40 years younger who adored her.  I hope to hell they weren't being celibate!  The weird thing about Harold and Maude for me is, I saw it first when I was 22 or so, and should have identified w/Harold, since I was completely fritzed up at the time, but no, I identified w/ Maude, and...ever so slowly...became her.  Interesting, no?

I also love the way not one scene or image is wasted in that flick...all the juxtaposing of life /death (coffin/cheerleaders).  I must have watched it 12 times and I see something new to admire every time.  My older daughter, bless her, used her iPod and made me a CD of music from H & M, which did not exist til she did it...you had to buy several Cat Stevens CDs and still didn't get it all...

Ennyway I'm glad it helped.  Anything that can get ya thru a bad day is a good thing!!!
