Topic: Echelon and a way to stop it

Echelon is an automated word-screening and data mining program that monitors all email and cell phone communications worldwide for certain keywords. Echelon can however be defeated by getting large numbers of people to include the Echelon key word list in every email they send. If a high precentage of emails cell phone calls contain the keywords, their value for data screening purposes is nullified. It is like sprinkling tons of iron particles in a field where someone is looking for a single nail with a metal detector. Cut and past the following list of words into the bottom of every email you send. Just a field can be "salted" so can the internet. To protect our privacy from these, and other similarly disgusting surveillance techniques, we need to make this kind of "Big Brother" intrusion a complete waste of time and resources.

i was just going to post about that one lol
hopefully some chip manufacturer would think, hey if we don't do this people will buy our stuff instead of every1 elses...

Re: Echelon and a way to stop it

First, I don't think you're going to affect Echelon one way or another by attaching that string to your emails.  Besides, there are literally dozens of such systems in place by now, including "Matrix" and others.  Don't waste your time.  You're just risking really being added to the "lists" (if you aren't already on a couple).

Second, Mavis now shares that URL and gives me, for the first time, a reason to now boycott AMD and other companies involved with the TPM system.  I do not support anything that uses this kind of technology, especially the fingerprint and biometrics kinds.

Why?

All they're doing is guaranteeing that our fingers and/or eyes are going to be a valuable commodity one day.  In other words, "gee, wheres my finger?"  "i dunno but I bought this one on the black market the other day".

Thanks.  Now instead of stealing my credit card #, they'll want my finger.  Awesome.

I was also thinking along these lines.

Re: Echelon and a way to stop it

hello all

so i just wanted to post a little list of some words that many of us all use frequently and some that were a little more comical to me:

Mary, Bob, joe - if any of your friends have this name, you or they might be a threat to the US gov.

JAVA, Active X, Macintosh, MSNBC, AOL, tools - look out if you work with computers or do about anything on the web.

Lexis-Nexis, Dictionary - monitoring 'zines, journals, newspapers and generally being well-read and intelligent is discouraged. sorry.

Exon Shell - some companies are too damn big not to be watched.

Ortega - some companies make damn good salsa, tortillas, and make-your-own taco kits.

keebler, ELF - DofD just has to know "how do they make all those cookies?"  the search continues...

Capricorn - the most ill-fated of all zodiacs; and the most stubborn (next to the bull big_smile)

Guppy, tiger, toad, fish, Mole, blowfish, gorilla, Halibut, Sardine, Fox - the most dangerous of nature's creatures.

fake, real - no philosophy please.

Tie-fighter - the Emperor better keep these guys on a leash.  we already have Star Wars defenses thanks to Reagan and succeeding conservatives.

VIP - evidence that these people are totally out of control. pamela acting? WHAT??!!!

ninja - you can't hit, what you can't see....

Weekly World News - where the gov't gets its news.

so basically, the moral is that whether you are on the list or not it means jack shit ultimately because these guys are totally mad.

i did find it interesting as a source list for doing research on actual gov't black ops like the 'Ionosphere' and 'Artichoke' and 'Psyops' keywords.

never relent

peace
