Re: The Mystery of Jesus

Thanks for the clarification, kid mongo, although I am still not sure
exactly what Jesus meant when he told the women not to touch him
"for I am not yet fully of the nature of the Father."  Meaning he was not yet non-physical?  And why is this a reason for the women not to touch him?

I still think the Gnostics were off base in their belief that there was something special about Jesus in that he only seemed to have a body,
that he was Spirit. The same is true of us all.

Yet, the body's importance should not be dismissed.  The Pleiadians  (channeled thru Barbara Marciniak) emphasize the importance of our bodies as transformational vehicles, and to this end, they recommend spinning, drinking lots of water, conscious breathing, bodywork, etc.

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

Actually, the phrase is, "Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to the Father: but go to my brethern and say to them, I ascend unto my Father..." (John 20:17 KJV). And I agree with your view about the spirit. It's just the Gnostic saw spirit and matter as opposites, fighting against each other.

Now some of the Gnostics (like Basilides) believed that Jesus didn't suffer on the cross, and that a substitute (Simon of Cyrene?) was used instead. This is also what Seth says in "Seth Speaks."

-Now: For your edification:

Christ, the historical Christ, was not crucified. - You will have to give me time here. (Pause.)

He had no intention of dying in that manner; but others felt that to fulfill the prophecies in all ways, a crucifixion was a necessity. Christ did not take part in it (Pause.) There was a conspiracy in which Judas: played a role an attempt to make a martyr out of Christ.  The man chosen was drugged-hence the necessity of helping him carry the cross (see Luke:23) and he was told that he was the Christ. He believed that he was. He was one of deluded, but he also himself believed that he, not the historical Christ, was to fulfill the prophecies.

Further, Jesus appeared in out-of-body states to his disciples afterwards,

(Pause at 10.00.) This is difficult to explain even for me to unravel.  The tomb was empty  because the same group carted the body away. Mary Magdalene did see Christ, however, immediately after (see Matthew 28). (Long, pause.) Christ was a great psychic.  He caused the wounds to appear then upon His own body, and appeared both physically and in out-of-body states to His followers.  He tried however, to explain what had happened and His position but those who were not in on the conspiracy would not understand, and misread His statements.

...This was all misunderstood. Christ then changed His mode of behavior, appearing quite often in out-of-body states to His followers. (See John 20, 21; Matthew 28, Luke 24.) Before, he had not done this to that degree.  He tried to tell them however that He was not dead, and they chose to take Him symbolically. (A one-minute pause.)  His physical presence was no longer necessary, and was an embarrassment under the circumstances. He simply willed Himself out of it. Now you may take your break.

Now look at these quotes concerning the statements of Basilides regarding the Jesus and the crucifixion.

" According to Basilides, this Christ was a man only in appearance; Simon of Cyrene, whom the Romans pressed into service to help Jesus carry his Cross, was crucified in his place, while the Nous returned to the Father."
     - Harold O.J. Brown, Heresies

"Yes, they saw me; they punished me. It was another, their father who drank the gall and the vinegar; it was not I. They struck me with the reed; it was another, Simon, who bore the cross on his shoulder. It was another upon whom they placed the crown of thorns. But I was rejoicing in the height over all the wealth of the archons and the offspring of their error, of their empty glory. And I was laughing at their ignorance."

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

I was of the impression that a lot of Egyptian rites were being performed between Jesus and Magdalene, such as the anointing of the feet with spikenard (?) and the meeting at the tomb, meaning that Jesus was not yet purified enough.  Those passages were included for some reason, though, so they're important, I imagine.  Hieros gamos, perhaps.

Thanks for the clarification on the quote.  Like Haven, I thought that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were physically intimate.  Some sources say they were married.  Well, there's a reason why this thread is called The Mystery of Jesus--so many contradictions from different sources.

Thanks too for clarifying the Gnostic position on matter vs. spirit.  To me, that is an unbalanced point of view...

And yes, I've read the Seth material on the reality of the crucifixion before, thanks for posting it here. An important piece of the puzzle.  And, interesting correlations with the Gnostic teaching.

Is the below also from the Gnostics?  It strikes me as a bit odd.  Jesus rejoicing and laughing over a man being crucified? neutral

I think it's funny to Jesus because that's his eidolon on the cross, whereas his higher self, the damon, cannot be made to suffer by 3D methods.  I don't know if it's supposed to be literal.

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

The Second Treatise of the Great Seth is a text from the Nag Hammadi Library. Attributed to the OT Son of Adam.
Here's a bit more of the section:

And I was visiting them all with fire and flame because of my Ennoia. And everything pertaining to them was brought about because of me. And there came about a disturbance and a fight around the Seraphim and Cherubim, since their glory will fade, and the confusion around Adonaios on both sides and their dwelling - to the Cosmocrator and him who said, "Let us seize him''; others again, "The plan will certainly not materialize.''

For Adonaios {Adam} knows me because of hope. And I was in the mouths of lions. And the plan which they devised about me to release their Error and their senselessness - I did not succumb to them as they had planned. But I was not afflicted at all. Those who were there punished me. And I did not die in reality but in appearance, lest I be put to shame by them because these are my kinsfolk. I removed the shame from me and I did not become fainthearted in the face of what happened to me at their hands. I was about to succumb to fear, and I <suffered> according to their sight and thought, in order that they may never find any word to speak about them. For my death, which they think happened, (happened) to them in their error and blindness, since they nailed their man unto their death. For their Ennoias did not see me, for they were deaf and blind. But in doing these things, they condemn themselves. Yes, they saw me; they punished me. It was another, their father, who drank the gall and the vinegar; it was not I. They struck me with the reed; it was another, Simon, who bore the cross on his shoulder. I was another upon Whom they placed the crown of thorns. But I was rejoicing in the height over all the wealth of the archons and the offspring of their error, of their empty glory. And I was laughing at their ignorance.

And I subjected all their powers. For as I came downward, no one saw me. For I was altering my shapes, changing from form to form. And therefore, when I was at their gates, I assumed their likeness. For I passed them by quietly, and I was viewing the places, and I was not afraid nor ashamed, for I was undefiled. And I was speaking with them, mingling with them through those who are mine, and trampling on those who are harsh to them with zeal, and quenching the flame. And I was doing all these things because of my desire to accomplish what I desired by the will of the Father above.

Yeah, "The laughing Jesus" is a hallmark of certain strains of gnosticism. He is laughing at the ignorance of the Demiurge and his human puppets. Just understand that to the gnostics and neoplatonists, it was impossible that a divine being could suffer, be killed, or be in any way connected to evil, imperfect matter.  Jesus descended from the "Good God" that was unknown even to the creator-angels/Demiurge who made the material world (different systems vary). To Marcion, this God was "the Wholly Other."

Again, this was a big deal, for the Docetist considered marytrdom useless and naive, while the emerging orthodox tradition valued it highly as a ticket to Heaven (sound familiar?)

-edit-

But before you completely write off the gnostics for their negative, escapist outlook of the material world, I would gently point out that there are plenty of gnostic ideas that survive and feature strongly in the New Age philosophy today;
that there is no sin, but rather ignorance that causes suffering
that cultivating the inner self is the beginning of enlightenment, the Kingdom of god is an interior state
acknowledgement of the Divine Feminine Principle (Sophia, Barbelo) (The Gospel of Mary was attributed by a woman?  Unthinkable to the orthodox!)
          personal spiritual authority
a cosmic "War in Heaven" (Light vs Dark spiritual contendings), among other things.
the "real" world is hidden in the observable world

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

I'm learning a lot from your posts about the Gnostics, kid mongo, thanks
for sharing. I find many of the passages rather cryptic, but I get the gist.
I know that this attitude about the material world as opposed to spirit was also a feature of the early Theosophical teachings, and still may be.  Perhaps Mme. Blavatsky drew on the Gnostics among others in formulating those teachings.  And, like Gnosticism, many of the ideas of Theosophy also feature in New Age philosophy.

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

Q: (L) Did the Christ spirit descend into the body of Jesus in his 30th year?
A: No.
Q: (L) What happened?
A: Formed within him. And it could do thusly in anyone who reaches such levels of service to others plus faith and supreme levels of pure
thought.

I am certain that the "second coming" is about individual people resurrecting Christ consciousness in their own hearts and minds.  Another metaphor.

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

Alls I know is, there is some Consciousness that responds to the name Jesus.  Maybe it's many distinctive consciousnesses.  But I was raised by an atheist and yet when I call upon Jesus this consciouness manifests and interacts with me.  It answers questions for me, sends me situations to clear up my confusions, helps me to heal and face things I don't want to face.  It also has messed with my radio and manifested in other ways like providing messages in newspapers, books etc soon after I send up a question.

Is this necessarily "Jesus" the once-human being?  Or is it just the Great Spirit or some of my Spirit Guides responding to heart-felt questions and requests for help and guidance?  Don't know.

Whatever it is, it responds to "Jesus".

Thanks for sharing the C's quote!  I really like their take on Jesus.  I agree with you about the "second coming"  and have posted about that here previously. Here's an excerpt from the most recent Matthew channeling (11/17) in which he touches on this; I've bolded that part:

S: I think this is a good place for this question: “Regarding the great transformation of Earth, what does it mean to be prepared spiritually? To the believer in Christ, it means to have accepted Him as Lord and Savior."

MATTHEW: And that is one of the greatest of all the beliefs that will be shattered when the truth about the millennia of deception perpetrated through religions becomes known. The “second coming"  and the “raptures"  and “salvation"  are part of the great lie. Religious beliefs are not the same as spirituality, and in most instances, they haven’t even a nodding acquaintance. One of the greatest challenges ahead is resolving the conflict between the people who do know the truth and those who will resist it to keep their belief foundations intact regardless of their religion.

As for Christianity, the man known as Jesus in the Bible would be the first to tell you how wrong the teaching is, that “accepting him as Lord and Savior"  is the way to “salvation,"  and he’d also tell you that believing that is not the same as “believing in Christ."  Christ is not a name–it means “being one with God."  The Christed energy, or Christed light, is the highest power in the universe and it is eternally available to all as the “savior"  that can keep you from falling into darkness and committing acts considered “ungodly."

The soul that originated in the Christed realm, which is Creator’s first creation, and incarnated in one lifetime as Jesus also has lived as many other spiritual leaders on Earth and far beyond.  The energy of the Christed realm is pure love, and it is this energy that Jesus, all of his soul’s other embodiments, and all other souls of that highest station impart that is  “the second coming."  It is not a return of the man who lived in Galilee 2000 years ago. He knew that he was no different from all other souls, that all are parts of God, that all have the same potential to perform the “miracles"  ascribed to him, and that all have multiple lifetimes for remembering their godselves and their inseparability from every other soul in this universe.

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

Yeah, I also dig the Matthew material. I received an intense religious upbringing, beginning with Catholicism, and then through the Black Protestant Zion AME tradition in my grandfather's church (5 generations out of North Carolina). I was baptised four times in four different churches. The fascinating study of Primitive Christianity is one that I have been undertaking for a long time now, and I connect very deeply with the gnostic traditions. I wonder why, heh.

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

Whew, you sure have been around, religion-wise smile  Yet it seems not to have turned you off the whole thing.  Interesting.  I had kind of a unique background in this, as well, though not so much as you.  I went to Catholic school as a child, was confirmed in the faith, but neither of my parents was really religious--the Catholicism was more or less an acceeding to
my adoptive grandmother's wishes.  In fact, my dad was a self-proclaimed atheist, and I can vividly recall how he seethed and squirmed in the pew next to me, the one time he consented to attend Mass with us.  So, on the one hand I was being taught about Jesus, learning the Lord's Prayer, singing hymns with my fellow students, going to church (irregularly) with my mother, etc., and on the other I was confronted with the idea that all of this was just a silly show that meant nothing.

But I got a lot out of Catholic school.  It was a very beautiful place, the nuns were kind and good teachers,  I liked the singing and the religious ritual in general.  But, I stopped going at age ten, switched to a school closer to home, and after that, the church became much less of a factor in my life, even though I went on to be confirmed.

Why was it that you went through so many different religions?  It was your parents' influence, I presume?  And, does Primitive Christianity have any connection to gnosticism?

Re: The Mystery of Jesus

A new take on the mystery of jesus thread.  u just have to check out this lenghty but amazing article at universal seduction.com by the author from/who apparently has a website called vesselofgod.com.  there's a tremendous conncection here (that i study consistently) with kabbalistws, gnosticism, ancient hebrews, druids, chaldeans, the scottish, the knights templar, the merovingians, and of course, the blood sangreal, better known as the holy grail.  this guy has done his homework.

there is a major serpentine (as holder of knowledge. and why i have a snake tatooed on my chest) influence with a tendency to go sort of nephilim/reptilian.  there is also (but not included here) the blue blood/true blood influence, which connotes to Rh negative blood sources (the basque, portugal), the nazarenes, fascinating.

i hope these links worked as i never post and am not sure how to do this, but if u go to universalseduction.com, u will see it all.  there's also other good stuff there.  i could go on and on, but it does congeal well here on the subject of jesus AND JEWS, which montalk, i totally agree with on that other thread.  i have read they have a "special karma"  involved with guilt (oye veh ?sp) and with supposedly their home planet which is talked about in the thiodouuba article some may be familiar with from a channeled voyager, which sounds alot like Nibiru but it's actually "hibiru"==as in hebrew.  so many many conncections and which seques into yahwhe=jehovah as a reptilian god, alin influence, sumerian background.  i have a friend who used to study blavatsky material and the cataclysm expert Veilakovsky stuff in alaska with some rosicrucians, that says he understands Abraham to really mean/be of "A Brahmin" (india, ufology, the vedas, etc) -- totally cool and relevant connections.

i gotta say this though, what would u make of a planet (and i have upset alot of traditionalists with this) that has/uses a logo of a crucified man/suffering human on a cross, bleeding and IN PAIN, human or superhuman or NOT???? WTF?!  it epitomize4s SUFFERING, SLAVERY, USERY, LOOSH at it's greatest, it's the apex point of the planet.  throw in the romans and it's all there.  old illuminati, new illuminati--IT IS THE NWO, better yet---THE WORLD "ORDER" in a friggin nutshell.  throw in the annunaki/annanuki 9they say they changed their name) and it's quite easy to make the connections.  human sacrifice.  wow.  i'll stop here so this can go on the forum.  i am scattered today but i have more connections to this, it also involves pre-adamic man. adamic man and i think OP's and it can all be explained in/with thisw flavor.  i have theories on that too.

i am typing horribly and misspelling everything, and showing dyslexic tendencies today  (i'm sure it's menopause) so sorry and forgive me.  i have so much to say on this and i think it's also connected to the deal with the rapture. 2nd coming.  i agree with montalk's last take on that and i think jen's--it's about the christ consciousness entering after living a human life that is the second coming.  it may not be literal.  i  loved that recent terrance mckenna thread and his quotes.  that was gorgeous.  thanks  zenden
