Topic: UKs bizzare drug laws.

As of July this year the UK Government have made it illegal to buy, sell, grow or pick magic mushrooms, previousley only dried shrooms or preparations were illegal but now fresh shrooms are a class A drug.
I think they were getting alarmed about the growing numbers of people taking shrooms in the UK and now in theory people could face 7 years in jail for picking them.
I wonder if its down to TPTB scared of the way shrooms expose the illusions of the world as a plant teacher and in this case why did the UK Government downgrade Cannabis from a Class B to aClass C drug and dont prosecute people growing a few plants or with a small stash.
No doubt the Gov would love to see 5 million people on the conciousness killer prozac instead smile

AFAIK this is going to be challenged under free trade and human rights so we will see.

Ibogaine and other halucinagenics are getting a good reputation for curing
serious addictions such as heroin in clinical use, not only do they seem to remove the physical addiction but the mental one too.

I stopped taking shrooms after i was using them more for recreation than spiritual insight but i dont think i would be as awake as i am now
without the insights they gave me, others of course have differnet journeys.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

Re: UKs bizzare drug laws.

Of course it's because TPTB are afraid of the way shrooms expose the illusions of the world. If you were that invested in the illusion, you'd sooner jump into boiling lava than have people peek into what you are
up to! Whatever's truly insightful has to be gotten rid of, for them. It's sad. Boo TPTB.

Re: UKs bizzare drug laws.

Hi Barefoot,

I've wondered exactly the same myself. It's hard to believe that mushrooms are now in the same class as drugs like heroin, crack & cocaine, while cannabis has essentially been decriminalised.

Mushrooms were certainly becoming very popular here with many shops around the UK selling them openly up until the law was changed in July. If you ever walked up Camden High Street in London in the last couple of years you will have been confronted with store after store all selling magic mushrooms. Quite a sight to behold!

Turning them into a Class A seems rather extreme but it doesn't really surprise me. TPTB are clearly concerned about the use hallucinogens and anything that might expose the illusion. We all know that the CIA are very involved in the drugs trade and are probably responsible for most of the addictive drugs like heroin and cocaine that are flooding on to the streets and destroying the lives of millions of people. But if you try and get hold of anything of an hallucinogenic nature and you'll find it's damn near impossible these days. It's clearly not something they want people to be doing.

And while it looks likely that the CIA were also responsible for introducing acid in the 60's, I personally think that was an experiment that seriously backfired on them which was why it was stopped, and heroin was quickly introduced to take its place. Many people have credited heroin as something that played a large part in destroying the hippie movement at the end of the 60's.

Even to this day, most western scientists have found it almost impossible to get permission from the required authorities to research hallucinogenic drugs. A notable exception is Rick Strassman who experimented with DMT and went on to the write the book "DMT The Spirit Molecule" which I've quoted from in various threads.

Slowly more research is being done around the world and much of this research is showing that most of these substances have extremely positive effects. They can cure addictions, heal various mental disorders, and in the case of Ayahuasca it can be extremely effective in healing just about any illness you can throw at it. Many scientists are also finding they are excellent tools in helping us better understand the nature of consciousness. And of course they can be a huge catalyst for spiritual growth when taken in the right context and setting.

There was a great article in New Scientist earlier this year about some of the latest findings and research that is being conducted: http://www.newscientist.com/channel/hea … 524881.400

Yeah I know all about Shulgin. He's a pretty cool and extremely talented guy. But he only stays one step ahead of the law because he's actually making new drugs all the time, and if the government get around to outlawing something he's made, he just creates something new. Although personally I'm not interested anymore in trying the stuff he's making because it's all chemical based and the safety and usefulness is highly dubious, although I know he tests everything on himself before releasing the recipe. I rarely use anything these days, but when I do I just stick with nature.

Anyway, welcome to Noble Realms!

When you consider that hybrid cannabis strains can come in at 15-20% THC they could be considered just as trippy as lower dose shrooms but as you say all but decrimanalised now.

Thing with shrooms is they are a very gentle teacher in comparison to others, anyone thinking about taking Salvia or Aya as an alternative to shrooms or for recreation had better do their homework first smile though perhaps these are on the Govs next ban list.

It is sad to see all the research over the last 40 years in treating addictions and mental health problems with ethnobotanicals ignored buy the establishmnet but the pharmies  make too much money out of drugs and methodone  to change things, last i heard though there is an ibogaine clinic in London that treats herion addiction.

Well no doubt the UKs  liberty caps in season now will take a pounding this year smile

Re: UKs bizzare drug laws.

It's completely ridiculous for plants to be outlawed.   If they were concerned about our welfare they would outlaw the poisonous ones, don't ya think.  I believe psycho active plants exist because we exist.  There are no other creatures who can make any use of them.  So, I'm outraged at any attempt to withhold these plant teachers and healers.  The misinfo and disinfo has frightened many people into fearing these plants and wrongly believing they are bad for us.
