Topic: What do you guys drink?

Not talking about alchole here.  As so many drinks nowadays contain so much junk such as saccharin and aspartame as well as a load of other rubbish - what do you actually drink?  Do you still go for the soft drinks, sodas and flavored drinks regardless...or do you go for something else?

Re: What do you guys drink?

Fiji or Trinity brand bottled water, with potassium supplement added in.  And lots of unsweetened herbal / green / white teas.   And that's pretty much it. smile  I make very delicious "tea cocktails" by mixing complimentary tea flavors together.   smile

I used to drink soda *every day* years back, back when I had poor eating habits.   I was a soda-holic.   It was hard at first making the switch to just water and unsweetened tea, just tasted so bland to someone who was accustomed to drinking stuff like Cherry Coke.   Never diet drinks though.  But yeah, I was lucky I didn't rot my teeth out.   I would never touch artificial sweetener, ever ever.  The stuff tastes nasty to me.   It's so vile!

Sometimes I'll buy a fruit juice;  Whole Foods Market's 365 brand makes a really tasty Galvenstein (SP??) apple juice.  Very scrumptious.

I recently got off the coffee.   Again.  Had taken up a mad coffee drinking habit, but then it began adversely affecting my health, giving me headaches.   So, back to no coffee again.  So it's mostly just water and tea now.

What about you Marcus?

Re: What do you guys drink?

I have not been able to break myself of 7-up at work.  I don't drink a lot of it, but it bothers me that I drink any.  I've tried just water, fruit juices, and tea.  They seem to make me thirstier.  At home I drink iced tea.

Awhile back I thought about getting one of these and make my own sodas:

Re: What do you guys drink?

Water and juice and some tea.

Re: What do you guys drink?

Lots of green tea which I've got rather addicted to in the last 9 months or so. I also like to drink fresh orange juice and I know I should be drinking more water than I do. I'm going to try and change that soon.

At the weekend I enjoy a few beers (or Guinness) usually, but rarely overdo it these days.

Re: What do you guys drink?

water (brita-filtered, lol, which I suppose doesn't do much)
fruit juices (orange and mango are my favorite)
soymilk

that's about it

sometimes I'll get one of those jamba juices.  I don't know what their deal is -- great marketing, so I don't know if they're actually healthy or if it's more corporate BS.

alcohol -- whiskey and dark oaty beers, but like ayahuasca I'm pretty mellow about drinking these days.  Drinking bothers me too b/c so much money just goes from poor saps like me who like alcohol to these huge corporations.

Re: What do you guys drink?

Lots of water from a distiller run through a twin vortex funnel with added minerals and a few oxy drops/ ozone bubbled trough a diffuser, really energising.
Love green tea, redbush tea and mint.

Friut juice, only buy goats milk for cereal and stuff.

Once drank my own urine but thats another story wink

Re: What do you guys drink?

Same, water and herbal teas mostly.   I use Stevia for sweetener, it's a natural herb and tastes far better than any of the chemical sweeteners out there.

I drink a lot of water I get from a water store, it is so pure that it has a sweet quality to it like fresh spring fed water. I've been just about drowning myself in it today. For some reason I feel like I'm dehydrating, I can't get enough of the stuff down my throat. The electrical part of my bodily functions must be working overtime.

I also drink grapefruit juice quite a bit. I love it.

I used to drink a lot of Coke, but have cut way back. I so like to drink it with pizza or Mexican food, but these days I don't even finish the whole can when I pour one.

I drink coffee every morning, one mug, sometimes two, and I'd really like to stop... I don't think it works anymore as a pick-me-up, in fact it seems to do the opposite, that paradoxical metabolization thing.  If it weren't for the nasty headache I get when I don't have a cup I'd quit in a heartbeat. Hmmm... I have Gunpowder Green Tea I like to drink in the afternoon sometimes, maybe I should try drinking that instead in the morning.

lyra, a number of times I have meant to ask you for some of your "tea cocktails" recipes, what it is you're mixing together... care to share smile ?

I can't drink anything with artificial sweetener in it, and never have aside of a few taste tests when diet drinks first came out. Diet drinks make me want to... hurl big_smile. My body simply doesn't tolerate them. Same thing happens with artificially sweetened food products.

We always have Iced Tea made around here, in true southern fashion, but I don't even drink too much of that anymore.

Water, water, water... keeps my soul garden growing well me thinks! smile

Highly recommended! Herbalife Thermojetics Herbal Concentrate Tea.

It IS _part_ of a weight control program and _no_ it does not contain Ephedra or whatever. Reeaally good stuff. Just add water! Pretty sure it's completely natural. It contains the _natural_ form of caffeine and other concentrates such as stevia root extract, or something like that . . . You should try it! Just be sure that, if you do try it, you do not injest other forms of caffeine (like coffee) and don't smoke or drink before or after drinking it.

I am as is Void.

Re: What do you guys drink?

I've often wondered what others drink too! Heh heh cool. I drink lots of water, so I got an under counter mounted reverse osmosis water filtration system with a UV lamp (we have well water at our house... YUK!) RO water is some of the best I've ever had.

I also drink lemonade once in a while (real lemon juice and real sugar), but not often, and coffee. I have an occassional herbal or green tea, but I seem to get heart palpitations with some teas, and others leave my mouth feeling funny. Tea also makes me really thirsty, so I end up following it with more water.  Weird, eh? LOL!

Never liked soft drinks/sodas, even as a kid. They gave me a bad feeling, somehow (not physical, more inner sense). So I just steered clear of them.

Oh, indeed!!!  big_smile   The key to any delicious tea cocktail lies in two particular tea ingredients:

- Celestial Seasonings White Tea with Pear  (not just white tea, it's the pear tea...)
- Peppermint

The White Tea with Pear is an unusual tea - it's warm and almost buttery in nature, very smooth.  It balances and mellows out other stronger ingredients.

Peppermint gives any tea a refreshing kick, as well as having a great flavor.   And to me, the two go well together.

(maybe I should be in tea advertising?  big_smile )

I usually use at least 3 different teas in any of my tea drinks, and for the 3rd ingredient it can be any of the following:

-  Green Tea
-  African Rooibos - I like The Republic of Tea's "Capetown Harvest".  It's Rooibos with fruit and flowers.  An unusual flavor.
-  Yerba Mate - I like Guayaki Organic Yerba Mate, it's available at any good health grocery store.  They have a all kinds of flavors, including Mint Mate, Greener Green Mate with Green tea, Chai Mate, and others.  Mate is an energy booster, and Mate with green tea even more so!
-   Yogi Brand Kombucha green tea -  Great fruity flavor, and chock full of healthful ingredients to boot, plus a small green tea caffeine boost.  Can't beat that!  But this is a good one if you're looking for a fruity third ingredient to add to the mix.
- Ginger - very healthful and gives stuff a nice bite.   I drink it for purely health reasons though.  I can't emphasize enough how strongly ginger works to completely eliminate nausea and motion sickness.  Within 5 minutes, your symptoms will be gone, no matter how strong they are.  This stuff works!

I also always have assorted random teas on hand at all times, stuff like Raspberry leaf, which is supposed to be a mediicinal tea for women during "that time of the month", but it's a good tea in its own right, and I enjoy taking it mixed with a ginger or peppermint tea bag.   Jasmine green tea.  Various Yogi brand teas, if something looks good to me.  etc.!   This week I tried Celesial Seasonings "Blueberry Breeze" green tea with blueberry and other stuff.  I've only drank it hot, and it's good, but  I can tell that this one would make an EXCELLENT iced tea.  Chilled blueberry fruity green tea...yum!

Right now my fave combination is:  - 1 bag of African Rooibos (Capetown Harvest flavor) 1 bag of Peppermint, 1 bag of White Tea with Pear.  SMOOTH DRINK!  YUM.  Montalk can vouch for this VERY tasty concoction.  It's one of our favorites!

In the winter, a good concoction to make is Peppermint, ginger and cinnamon. !!!!!!!!!!!YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kombucha with peppermint and the white pear tea is also very tasty!

I'm a big fan of tea.  smile  I have fun experimenting with it.

Re: What do you guys drink?

Primarily water and tea (green, white, yerba mate, chai, or rose hip).

The sugary stuff I cannot drink anymore except for coffee which I recently quit because it was giving me migraines. But I'll make an exception during Christmas time for some spiked egg nog.

Lyra does indeed make good tea combos. One combination I came up with is chamomile mint. And ginger tea works well for reducing nausea and headaches.

Auendove, to quit coffee try the following:  cut your "dose" by a third every day (one cup, two thirds, one third, then nothing) and supplement with ginger and green tea to stave off the headaches. Getting off the heavy caffeine is hard enough, but if you take your coffee with sugar and cream your body could be addicted to those as well. So make it easier by substituting with chai tea and milk/sugar until you're comfortably off the coffee, then transition to green tea or plain chai. That's how I did it!

Re: What do you guys drink?

Turkish coffee everyday! Yes, it's very high on caffeine, yes I unfortunately drink it with sugar (brown sugar) and yes that's an addiction. But I must confess I'm happy with it. smile
The closest thing to Turkish coffee is espresso but TC is even heavier!

Also green tea. I'm not surprised to read green tea is everybody's favourite. And lots of water of course.

Re: What do you guys drink?

lyra and montalk,

Thank you both for your advisement!

montalk, I hate to admit it outloud, but I have a horrible time with self control when it comes to some unhealthful drink and foods like coffee, sweets, and dairy (although I don't put sugar in my coffee and almost always use 2% milk instead of half-n-half). I've started this morning already to put your advice to good use. I have set a goal, lack of present time self control or not, to be off coffee by the time two weeks are up. I'm gonna just DO IT!!!

lyra, I'm going out to the grocery store later and I'm going to get the White Tea with Pear... boy-oh-boy, that sounds so yummy! Especially with the notation of it tasting buttery! I love that! All of your recipes have been joyfully received and I'll be giving them a try in the future wink . And thanks for relaying about the ginger tea and nausea... this will come in handy when the skewed magnetic grid gets my head all wavy-gravy like it does and I feel those pukey symptoms of vertigo/motion sickness. In fact, I'll be buying that today also, I'll never know when I may need it until it's too late.
