The elevator seems to be some sort of reference about trans-dimensional travel.  Chocolate could be representing physical creation.  His factory I'm assuming is some strange dimension or the journey of life.  Violet getting "juiced", which was possible because of all the energy she spent trying to be the "best", as in "loosh".

Great interpretation! I like it. Question - did they try to remake that really weird scene where they take the ride on the uhh boat thingy down the tunnel? You know where Wonka gives the really eerie comentary and everything spirals out in a rainbow? Or do I have the wrong idea . . . this was a remake of that movie?

As an aside, the movies are one of the few places where the crowds really bug me.  Really makes it apparent how seperate I am from the common person.  I really have to basically tone myself down and just be empty while dealing with people these days.  Not that that's bad, and it used to be lonely and aggravating, but now it's just seems like I'm around children or like I'm living in a zoo with a bunch of animals.  I guess it just isn't very rewarding unless you approach them with the right frame of mind, but it's still a chore.  At least they're better than those who think they have a clue and give you this holier-than-thou or just plain rude attitude, like they're better or smarter and they have to remind everyone else how dumb they are by treating you like you're just a plain idiot, which actually shows that they haven't learned a whole lot anyway.  Ah, well.

I know exactly what you mean. I've gained a new perspective on this lately (my percieved reason why folks sometimes act the way they do - or even feel the need to be so mentally bound to this physical realm [obviously aside from any genetic de-evolution or otherwise social or subliminal programming]). When you consider the possibility that in humanity's ancient past there may have been a disastrous nuclear war or otherwise repeated natural disasters (like in Barbara Hand Clow's 'Catastrophobia' or other books) - we'll take the nuclear war as an example. Now if this happened, then there were many souls which were traumatized in an utterly unthinkable manner and some of them could have been stuck somewhere in this terrible state, unable to re-incarnate for a period (for lack of a better description). It's just that I imagined that these ones would somehow need to re-evolve as a way of 'getting themselves back again'. Thus making it necessary for them to do all the things we're wintessing as a sort of evolutionary 'healing process' which would eventually allow them to attain the spiritual or soul level they had achieved prior to said disaster.

Hoo boy - does anyone get me here?

And alas, I've gone and diverted the subject of yet another thread. Yay me!

Great 'cause I've got a question about that - which would also serve to put this thread back on topic (sorta). Dosen't BitTorrent always use its special file extension to download the files? Is this extension after the real file's extension or is it replacing it until the end of the download? I should assume it's after now that I remember that's how one of my download managers works but this is BitTorrent so maybe it's different? Because if it replaces it, then how would one know exactly what type of file you're downloading until you've actually finished the download? (I hate that.)

The boat scene is in there, along with the disclaimer that they "don't know where they'll end up."  In the original, it was accompanied by this spooky song by Wonka where he is basically saying that things are speeding up and can't slow down, and we're just along for the ride, giving the indication of fear.  In this one, the boat ride was chaotic, and there were a bunch of tunnels, while the oompa loompas steered, calmly, through this mess.  Again, maybe the grays and time/dimension traveling, or perhaps the souls going through the universe, dimensions included, and not knowing where they'll end up.  The rooms in this factory were all so different from one another, pocket dimensions, or other areas of the physical plane, while the waterfall room, complete with "UFO" sucking up chocolate, seemed to serve as the anchor, the most "normal", the Earth, so to speak.

Also, the thing that Wonka is concerned with primarily with life is "taste".  On one level, the whole chocolate/taste thing is supposed to be about creativity and children running amok and having their way with no structure, but on a whole different level, it could be taken as "tasting" the physical realm, as in incarnating in the flesh, or being overly aborbed by its energy, and getting away from God.  (I use these terms generically;  my God is another's spirit realm/higher self, whatever translates best for the reader would probably suffice.)

All in all, a lot of symbolism, even if it may merely be subconscious.  If you're one of those people that can watch a movie and just get it, then this one will be a good one.

* When we start identifying wisdom with our ability to comprehend its form, what wisdom is that?
* Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Okay, what again, now about the anchor and the 'normal' Earth?

Oh, yes I am one of those people. Though I don't think I would brave that one in the theatres seeing as that this type of heavy symbolism always makes me really 'squirmy' in my chair about it - I mean I always have to speak out about it - it's just knee-jerk - I can't shut up, and that usually makes other movie patrons angry . . .

Re: movies

Well, it seems to be the room that is at the center.  This is where the chocolate is mixed.  For some reason, there's an emphasis on the waterfall being the perfect mixer.  Also, though it may have just been a part of the movie without any deeper meaning, the chocolate being sent out to be eaten couldn't be touched by human hands.  Also, the entire landscape was "eatable", down to the grass.  Furthermore, this is where the boat headed out into those other "dimensions".  Perhaps this room signifies the womb, or some sort of generic holding place; I don't know, but I took it to mean the Earth.  It is also where Charlie lives at the end of the movie, in a replica of the shack he lived in on the outside.

Re: movies

Just watched the trailer for the Wachowski Brothers movie "V For Vendetta."

In light of the two bombings in London this month, I can only IMAGINE how close to home this movie is going to hit people in England by November, when it finally comes out.   Who knows what draconian laws and policies will be put in effect by then as a problem-reaction-solution?  And this movie takes place in a future totalitarian England, and is all about rising up and rebelling against tyranny.   In the trailer there's a line about Fear being the tool of their government.    And how people shouldn't be afraid of their governments.................governments should be afraid of their people.

Loads of symbolisms throughout as well.  That was evident in just the trailer.  The red rose, the Cross of Lorraine, the predominance of the occult color scheme of red, black and white.........the "V" itself in the logo looks to me to be a very loose rendering of Baphomet.  It's not just a V, it's a V that curves like horns, extending beyond the circle.

I believe this movie may be one of those trigger movies for people with programming.   Again, not sure what's going to be going on in the world by November, but things are picking up pretty quickly now.  Three major international bombings in 2 weeks, draconian laws and rules are rapidly settling into place as a result..........if this movie indeed acts as a trigger as I suspect it will, can only imagine what it will cause some people to do in those draconian circumstances.    !

Definitely will be seeing this one, and paying close attention to background details.......

Re: movies

Thanks for the head's up on V for Vendetta.  I saw the movie "The Island" today and "V for Vendetta" was one of the previews.

As far as "The Island" goes . . .

I liked the movie.  I think that it presents a plausible scenario for hidden cloning operations.  Also, it's more than just about cloning - the movie includes manufactured realities, mind programming, the desire for power and control - and what it may take to go beyond these constraints.

All set within the package of the hero's journey:

Call to adventure (the sense or feeling that something is wrong with the reality that is presented as complete)
Initiation (Learning the truth, the road of trials)
Illumination (awareness of the truth, stepping into empowerment)
Return (bringing the awareness back to society, and attempting to foster freedom - even at personal risk)

Yes, there are flaws in the movie - but all movies have flaws.

Re: movies

Got to see Logan's Run tonight for the first time ever.   None of the 4 local Blockbusters carried it on DVD so I just went ahead and bought it for $7 at Best Buy.  smile   I'm surprised this movie hasn't been mentioned in detail here at NR yet.    It was positively DRIPPING with Brotherhood / Illuminati / Egyptian occult symbolisms.  Here are the highlights:

- Code "033 03" -   333, the initiate
- The Ankh necklaces, which in the movie represents the symbolism for "Sanctuary.";
- The crystals;
- The Domed city - this is Brotherhood architecture, for trapping and using energy.
- People in the movie are all killed at the age of 30. Exactly as the Illuminati mind control slaves supposedly do in real life;
- The VERY Bohemian Grove-esque Carousel Ritual where the 30 year olds are killed - Everyone gets in a circle, with robes and masks, moving in a counterclockwise circle around a red rose figure (more Illuminati symbolism)- this is also reminiscent of "Eyes Wide Shut."
- Washington DC, the city where Logan and Jessica find themselves, the Brotherhood capital of the U.S.; the Washington Monument obilisk featured so prominantly in several scenes;
- The sun, (Ra) also featured prominantly in the scene when Logan and Jessica first emerge from the cave;
- The cats (worshipped by Egyptians) living with the old man at the White House - there were bezillions of them and they were a prominant feature too;
- The old man reiterating several times that cats have 3 names;
- Water, water, everywhere in this movie. It's been discussed before in this thread, the symbolism of water representing truth.   The end of the movie revolves around water - Logan and Jessica go back to the Dome City to tell everybody the truth about the outside world and save them, and in order to get back into the city they have to jump into the water and swim through several closed off openings;  They also discover at this point that the city is right on the ocean, being powered by the seawater - which means those who are in charge of running the city are very aware of the truth about the outside surroundings even if everybody else is kept in the dark;
- At one point when Logan is fighting the other Sandman guy, Logan throws a book at him (knowledge) and the Sandman grabs a tattered American flag on a pole (nationalism, brainwashing, the system, etc.) to attack Logan with in response.  Thought that was interesting.

There's so much in this movie, tons more -- the entire movie has literally a double meaning, an entire other coded layer to it.   It's also the archetypal hero's journey, exactly as wandering1 just mentioned in his previous post:

wandering1 wrote:

Illumination (awareness of the truth, stepping into empowerment)
Return (bringing the awareness back to society, and attempting to foster freedom - even at personal risk)

This is the same identical scenario in "Logan's Run".    It's also the same formula used in "The Matrix".  It involves the hero who starts out asleep, trapped in a man-made matrix reality of illusion and distraction;  waking up, albeit reluctantly, with the help of his female heroine counterpart;  gaining knowledge and getting stronger as a person as the story rolls along;  meeting up with the older, wiser, father God-like figure thus forming the Trinity;  then going back into the matrix illusory reality to help rescue others.

Another movie this reminded me of was "Labyrinth", also mentioned earlier in this thread.   The hero journeying into different rooms / areas in the dome city (labyrinth) that have their own unique feel and vibe and strange characters to battle and contend against, while slowly but surely making progress through the city (puzzle maze) to get to the goal, Sanctuary (goblin city).

There's so much, I could go on for hours!  big_smile

Wow! I remember Logan's Run from my childhood, it was very popular on Turkish TV but of course I didn't watch it to see these symbols back then. In fact, if I watched it only 3 years ago I wouldn't see them again smile

Thanks Lyra, I'll check the DVD!

You're welcome!  Yeah, the movie's funny because it's 70s sci-fi, so the "future" looks AMAZINGLY just like 1976!!!   big_smile   I love the sound affects too... the beeping and booping and funny sounds they used to try to make it feel all sci fi and futuristic.   hehe Too funny.

Other minor points in the movie got me which I didn't mention in my initial post- just the way humans had become so oblivious and hedonistic, with a total childlike sheep / herd mentality.  Everybody wanted to just play, get inebriated, have sex, and play some more.  Life had no purpose other than being mentally asleep and just enjoying the pleasures of physicality.  Nobody questioned anything about the way their life was or the reality that was being presented to them, like what was going on outside for instance.  At the end when Logan and Jessica discover that the city is on the ocean, powered by the water, he realizes "I never thought about it!"  It never occurred to him, or anybody else, to wonder how things functioned, how and why reality was the way it was, whether there were things they weren't being told.  They were encouraged by their Powers That Be to just remain in the pen, unquestioning, distracted by physical pleasure and fun and games.  Don't think....just play!  Don't leave the pen......or you'll be killed!

Even though we don't have 1976 hairdos and dress up like Peter Pan rainbow fairies, I see many parallels in the movie to life right now, believe it or not.......!

(edit......that made me realize.......everybody dressed up looking like Peter Pan in a city populated by only young people who are in a perpetual state of childlike hedonism.......so, yet another intentional symbolism.....I like how at the end Logan brings Old Man back to the city to show everybody, and they all gather around him in wonder and amazement, touching him and giggling.........now there would be no more carousel, everybody was going to live past 30 and grow old, and they had exposure to an old man - so throwing away ignorant youth for wisdom and old age.  cool!)

Yes, I dug the movie!  It rocks, in a 70's, shaggy haired, rainbow fairie sci-fi kind of way!

Re: movies

So there I am, perusing the movie trailers section in Yahoo, and each time I do this I'm always struck by the inanity of most movies that are out now.  Rarely anything is intelligent.    It's all so stupid, and very, very profane.   God.   Stuff actually shocks me now.   Many times I can't even finish watching a trailer!   Maybe this is because I don't watch TV and watch only a select few movies, so I've been de-desensitized.  (a new word!)   I don't know.   What I see is a proliferation of:

1.  Horror / gore movies -  usually involving the extreme terrorizing, torture and killing of people.  There's a new one called "Hellbent"....watched about 45 seconds of the trailer, and turned it off, disgusted.  Guys making out with other guys, sexual innuendo about drinking a "flaming penis...one swallow and you're hooked", people's heads getting hacked off.....I mean, what's the point?   Lots of gratuitousness, just for the sake of shock value.  Horror movies have skyrocketed recently - I saw an article several months ago that said there are over 25 horror gore fest movies slated for release in 2005.  Serial killer movies were the big thing over the past few years.  The shelves of Blockbuster are lined with movies that glorify the lives and times of John Wayne Gacy, Richard Ramirez, Ed Gein, and others.

2.  Movies featuring sociopathic people...who are glorified.  They're the heros and heroines of the movie that you're supposed to identify with and root for and laugh along at their cruel and sadistic antics.   See "Pretty Persuasion" for a very up-to-date example of this.  I just found this one to be quite shocking.  Mean spiritedness and hurting others is held in high esteem.

3.  Mindless recycled plots and themes.   How many romantic comedies can there be??  What is the fricking POINT of a romantic comedy?  The latest are "Must Love Dogs" and "The Perfect Man."  yawn. Do people not realize they're watching the same recycled nonsense, over and over?  Apparantly not, because the movies keep being made, and people keep going to see them.

4. "Humor" whose standards have sunk so low that it's now just crass and disgusting.  I guess it's some effort to outdo whatever's been done before, so humor is getting grosser and grosser in an effort to be MORE funny and MORE shocking.   Recent example:   "Deuce Bigelow, European Gigalo."  From what I read of the plot, the opening scene involves Deuce's wife getting attacked and killed by a shark....................played for laughs.  Then one of his gigalo tricks is a woman whose mother was a **Chernobyl radiation victim**, so the daughter was born with the radiation induced deformity of a penis for a nose, and when she sneezes, she sneezes out come, not mucus.    And...............this is supposed to be funny??   Am I missing something here?

I keep thinking of that one document that nevers posted in another thread, which outlined The Powers That Be's plan to systematically destroy humanity, a subset of which involved the entertainment industry (of course.  this is their playground, after all.)   In the document it specfically said to keep entertainment at a 6th grade intelligence level.

Think about that.   6th grade intelligence level.  That means MOST movies that you're going to encounter won't surpass the mentality of your average 12 year old.

6th grade.

Since reading that last week it's been on my mind off and on, and I've mentally reviewed movies and trailers with that in mind.   Not all movies are only on a 6th grade level, but pretty much most of them are.  It's sad and messed up.

Time to boycott Hollywood.  I know I need to.  I keep perusing the trailers, always on the hunt for a cool movie, but there usually never is.   When I find one it's like locating a needle in a haystack.  They're getting fewer and farther between.  I'm going to give up the trailers and throw in the towel with movies.   It's all a distraction tactic anyway, courtesy of TPTB.    There are better things to do with my time.

Re: movies

I don't blame you really.  Even though there are a select few good movies every so often (are you throwing the baby out with the water??), so many of them are total trash it is sometimes hardly worth the effort of finding which ones are worthwhile.

But look at it this way.  The ones that are worthwhile usually are very good, and give a lot of food for thought!  So one aspect of hollywood making so much shite is to swamp the few good messages under a ton of dross.  "Hey, no one will even see the few important messages that manage to escape if we will the screens with utter nonsense!"

TPTB are in every aspect of what we do - regardless of what we decide it is hard to know if our thoughts have been influenced or not by them.

I don't receive TV broadcasts here now - but the UK has a programme called "Big Brother" you have probably heard of it.  A "reality" TV show where "contestants" have to live in a house for months, and the public votes out the ones they don't like.  So, my niece was telling me about this show the other day (she loves it, thinks it is the best thing ever!).  One of the women in the "house" started talking about masturbating (keep in mind everything that goes on is recorded and 99% of it is broadcast), she that proceeded to do the act live on TV!!  Next the woman tells the guys sharing the "house" that she wants a bottle - I will leave the rest up to the imagination.

This is meant to be "family" TV.  In truth it is utterly sick and debasing!

But does that mean all TV is shit?  Well as it is broadcast then yes.  But some programmes are worthwhile, and if watched away from the broadcasting (either a recording or a download) they are very worthwhile.  One programme I watch is a TV series about a psychic who has visions of the past and future.  So far they have covered themes of non-linear timelines, manipulating the timeline, etheric forces, "nature" / god force guiding ones actions.  Showing how intuition is superior to science, as well as jumping on themes like remote viewing, hidden government programs, CCTV surveillance and who controls it.  As well as Armageddon!

All this is kept among episodes about regular everyday stuff - so you never know what is going to happen next.  The message?  That all this "weird" stuff occurs on a regular everyday basis, with all the "normal" stuff.

TV is a total waste - but that doesn't mean every program is a total waste.

Same goes for movies - and indeed all of life.  Just depends if we want to invest the effort to find what is worthwhile.  Or else leave it be and spend the time on something else (and maybe miss a few gems).

EDIT: Just wanted to emphasize that I do not disagree with what you are saying Lyra.  I used to spend a lot of time watching movies and TV series - now I barely rack up a few hours a week.  Seems to me there is a sort of trap there - where you just get caught up in all the hollywood nonsense.  I don't mean the celebrity stuff; rather the idea of falling for the belief that movies and TV are somehow a big part of life - when in fact they actually aren't.  I think this affects more people around their mid thirties and below - because we have been brought up on a culture of movie watching.

It's hard to get totally out of that mentality.

At anyrate - stories have been with us for thousands (millions?) of years - and they do indeed have a lot of value.  Thing to remember is the greatest philosophers have used stories to communicate some of the most inspiring and awakening concepts.  But also religions have used stories to achieve unprecedented levels of control...

I think what's happening here is the levels of desensitization are being raised so high so as to effectively REMOVE any sense of seriousness and leave the 'subject' in such a state of 'nothing matters' that they no longer feel they have anything to 'grasp on to' psychologically - so that they eventually become more easily controllable and more easily submit to the every whim of their mass social controllers.

It is indeed time to get off that train. I've been in the same position as you, hunting for more movies and finding nothing but undesirable junk. That's an interesting point, because you've taken it to one possible future conclusion, explaining the "why" of it all.  I knew that there was some reason behind it all, but I hadn't tried to really get to the bottom of what it all might be.  Like, What are they trying to accomplish here??   The conspiracy documents and writings all talk about how TPTB are trying to "destroy society / humanity / the family unit" etc. etc. but that's still a little broad and general.  So yeah, I like your idea.

Specifically, those in their 30's and younger were the first generations of kids raised with the VCR, then later the DVD player.  Our parents / grandparents / aunts and uncles didn't have the luxury of owning and re-watching movies as kids and teens.......over and over and over and over and over and over again.    If they wanted to see a movie they had to go to the theater to do so, if they could afford it, and they could only see it as many times as it was out in the theater......then that was it.  Once it was done showing, you didn't see it again.   So we're not just the movie generation, because movies have existed for most of the 20th century, we're just the first to be able to own our very own "movie libraries" and watch and re-watch (or rather "program ourselves"...........) repeatedly with these movie libraries.  And for that reason you're right, we've been conditioned that movies are "somehow a big part of life."   That's exactly it, right there.

And you know, I just have to add something I didn't mention in my original post which is that I'm NOT one of those humorless, uptight people who goes around "getting offended" by everything.  In fact I have no patience AT all for people who whine about being offended, and "you hurt my feelings!" and whatnot.  It's like, ahhhh, get out of my face!    You have to have a thick skin in life.  You can't go around with thin skin whining and complaining all the time that this and that is offensive, or it hurt your feelings, or whatever.  People who do that need to learn that the world doesn't revolve around them, and other people are NOT obligated to adjust themselves so Miss / Mr. Sensitive Thin Skin doesn't get offended.   !!!  So, just wanted to establish that.   And I'm somebody who LOVED South Park, that just cracked me up to no end, and I laughed so hard at the South Park movie that I hurt myself.  big_smile  And yet, South Park is something that offended a lot of people.  I loved it though.   But something is seriously up with movies nowaday, something has changed.  Stuff is crass and gross and dumb, but there's no actual point to it, or any intelligence driving it.  People got all offended by South Park but at least Trey Parker and Matt Stone were intelligent, there was some point driving things with that whole deal.  There was something called "cleverness" going on with it.   (although the episode about the conjoined fetus in Season 1 might have shocked some people the way Deuce Bigelow's Chernobyl radiation mutant with the penis / come sneezing nose shocked me, I don't know........there's some food for thought..........)

ANYway, rant over.  For now!

Re: movies

I have seen a movie recently titled "Virgin" that I feel is worth watching. Low budget, indy film by Deborah Kampmeier. It's not entertaining in the typical Hollywood sense. More of an artistic view on societal and psychological issues. It's not a happy camper movie. Quite like Sean Penn movies. In fact, Robin Wright Penn has a major role in it. Rent it on DVD so you can watch the short film in the special features. I like intelligent movies. This, IMO, is one of them.
