Topic: Light and Sound Machines (Brain Entrainment)

After having used Brainwave Generator in the past I feel a light and sound machine is the next step for me.

"Utilizing light and sound pulses at a specified frequency, these machines stimulate the mental activity in various ways, essentially leading perception from the waking state to a variety of altered states of consciousness."

My question to the community is does anyone have experience with a light and sound machine?  Do you feel it helped you? Do you feel it hindered you?  Is there a model you recommend?  Are there certain color LED's in the glasses you would recommend over other colors and why?

Re: Light and Sound Machines (Brain Entrainment)

Yeah I did, but it did not get me enough answers.

Re: Light and Sound Machines (Brain Entrainment)

Yes i used to have to have one but sold it on ebay a while ago.
It was not as good as i expected and i found i could easily get the same results from meditation which is far more natural too.

You do get some good visuals with the glasses but there is something very artificial about it.

Of course if you buy a machine with variable frequency settings avoid 6.66 HZ smile

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

Re: Light and Sound Machines (Brain Entrainment)

In meditation, one attempts to shut out external impressions in order to access the world within... well, sensory deprivation really helps. There's something called the Ganzfeld Effect where people can go into hallucinatory states  if staring into a formless field of uniform color for several minutes. That's the idea behind sensory deprivation chambers or old-time techniques like mirror or psychomanteum scrying where the trance induced is required to "see" things.

Anyway, for people experimenting with brainwave synchronization through audio files, the Ganzfeld technique of putting something over your eyes to create the uniform field of vision might enhance the process.

Cut a ping pong ball in half and put it over your eyes while reclining or lying down. If the ball has a logo, then use two and keep the blank halves. To make it fit better, squeeze the circular half into an oval and smoothly trim down the longer sides of the oval. Upon releasing the trimmed part assumes a curve that follows the contour of your eyelids. Then you can color it red, blue, or violet with a marker or just keep it white and use a lightsource of your choice. Put on your favorite audio (simplest would be white or pink noise) and gaze off into the formless void... if nothing else, your visualization ability will become quite vivid after several minutes.

Applications:

* retrieving memories, recapitulation
* working out abstract concepts
* observing your thoughts and the inner world
* visualization exercises
* mind awake, body asleep
* remote viewing, scrying
* training open-eye trance-at-will ability

Thought I'd throw in a quick plug for Alex Grey's "MindFold":

You can keep your eyes open comfortably and when properly adjusted it blocks out all light. I've had mine for a long time 1yr+ maybe and it's still holding up under my abuse of it.
