Topic: The Simpsons & Reptiles

Since I started reading up on the whole Reptilian Agenda thing, as well as only just discovering how bad FOX network are (me being from UK) for promoting the Republicans, or at least Republican policies, I was a little confused how a show such as the Simpsons could possibly be aired by FOX.

I've started watching the show in a new light, looking out for these, and found that it does indeed, if you remove the assumed irony from a lot of the jokes (especially the "Free Press" episode where Mr. Burns buys all the media in town (and Homer calls him a "greedy old reptile", hmm smile) that had the line at the end: "Now instead of one person controlling the media we have hundreds of people voicing their worthless opinions" or something to that effect... (hmm! smile)

But mostly, I've been very intrigued by the sheer volume of reptile references in the show I've noticed, as pointed out above... seems every episode I've seen recently has Burns (a rich member of the elite) having a lizards tongue, been hinted at being thousands of years old,  or being called a reptile... not to mention hundreds of other reptile references unrelated to Burns.

So I did a search on the net, and found some reptile lover's homepage which stated proudly that 1/3 of all the Simpsons episodes have reptile references in them. Is that odd, or is it me? (who is odd, that is smile) Are the writers of the Simpsons trying to tell us something? Are FOX trying to NLP the viewers? Or are they parodying the Reptilian thing? Or am I just looking too deep into it.

Next time it's on, have a watch with this in mind, I'd be interested to hear anyone else noticing these things...

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

the simpsons is very symbolic, even if it is covered over by humor and satire.

whether or not that is benevolent or malevolent, im not sure, but i dont think it matters. messages are neutral, "dont shoot the messenger"

personally i think they are making fun of it all, but subtely they give us a message.

example:

one episode, homer finds an extra terrestrial floating around the woods, and then theres a big deal in springfield. everyone comes to watch the ET arrive, only to be dissapointed to find out it was only Mr. Burns going thru some wicked medical procedures to keep him alive.
(hints at the fake / holographic / disguises and also the faked alien invasion theories)

theres TONs of other hints...

oh, dont forget the episode where Burns builds a machine that blocks out the Sun from Springfield...

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

How interesting?... As a writer I am constantly fascinated how writers ( being nosy human beings) are now becoming more 'in the loop''! The writers may, of course just be taking the **** but they also may be, indeed,  be giving vital knowledge to the masses, through comedy.... As I am indeed attempting! I watched a TV programme last night and in a totally 'off axis` conversation, a character started discussing how the weather was being tampered with and that the moon was off axis!!!! Ok, it only lasted 30 seconds but little by little we may be getting there...I mean this was a bout a serial murderer!!!!  But as I say they may just be `tomando el pelo ´ ´, as the spanish say. And then of course, we had The Matrix. More fascinating for me than the film, is who and how the film was made!!! And how did they get the  money!!!! Just a thought x

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

I remember Lisa drinking the  water from a ride at an amusement park and having an LSD type trip and saying "i am the lizard queen"

One of my favs is when Homer joined the stonecutters and the famous "we do" song.

Who controls the British Crown?
Who keeps the Metric System down?
We do! We do!
Who leaves Altantis off the maps?
Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
We do! We do!

Who holds back the electric car?
Who makes Steve Guttenberg a star?
We do! We do!

Who robs cave fish of their sight?
Who rigs every Oscar night?
We do! We do!

The simpsons is written on many levels.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

Lisa was the lizard queen because Jim Morrison was the Lizard King! tongue

But, yeah, Groening is a mason or illuminati, I'm sure, and his show has been on for years beyond a normal run.  He has to have connections to be able to do that, may even be the connection!  He's always running themes throughout his shows, and judgment seems to be more prevalent these days.  There's been a real religious turn lately.

The thing that really stood out for me was this:

Mesmerino [holds envelope to forehead]
"1776..."
[opens envelope and reads contents]
"How much is left in my checking account."

In light of this:

"Brilliant and well trained by the Jesuits in the conspiratorial methods of access to power, young Weishaupt decided to organize a body of conspirators, determined to free the world from the Jesuitical rule of Rome and help humanity back to the pristine Christian faith of the hermetic martyrs. He is reputed to have been initiated by a German merchant named Kolmer, he had spent many years in Egypt, into a secret doctrine based on Manichaeism. Mayday of 1776, Weishaupt founded his own sect of the Very Perfectibles - better known as the Illuminati - with five original members, self-described as reformist libertarians, partisans of absolute equality."
     - Peter Tompkins, The Magic of Obelisks

the whole thing seemed so obscure as to prompt me, at least a little familiar with these topics, to assume that 1776 was intentionally placed.

* When we start identifying wisdom with our ability to comprehend its form, what wisdom is that?
* Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
* People want platitudes, not progress.

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

So what is the allure and appeal of the Simpsons?   I keep hearing so many people say that this show is *IT* for them.    ?!   Why?  I remember when the Simpsons first came out back in '89, I had just started highschool in CT.   Then it gained pop culture noteriety by '90, and Bart Simpson and his doofy sayings were all over T-shirts and posters.   It was Bart Simpson this, and Bart Simpson that.  I stopped watching TV in the early to mid-90's, so I'm forever stuck associating the Simpsons with like, 1990 and 1991 and everything that was going on back then.....music like MC Hammer, neon colors....haha    So when I see all this hype over it I wonder.....is this even the same cartoon that I watched back in highschool??  ?!?  big_smile

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

its the same show, indeed. it may have a slightly different look (as most cartoons usually undergo production changes) but at the core its the same simpsons.

whats noticeable is that the producers have become alot more daring lately. theyve been tackling very controversial subjects ALOT for the past, oh i dunno 2-3 years. its transitional, they slowly starting getting more daring...

i too feel that theres defenitely something higher going on with this show. firstly its been on FOREVER. secondly theres the slight contradiction between the FOX networks' attitude and the Simpons' Satire. Thirdly, i feel that the show HAD TO HAVE BEEN AIRING for YEARS before they can successfully begin throwing in very peculiar messages into their shows...

perhaps some research into the producers ? maybe ill try that one day...

gosh, yall should have seen this past sunday's new episode... u would know exactly what im talking about!

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

Matt Groening published cartoons in alternative newspapers and published some books
of his comics before The Simpsons first ran.

I can remember reading Life is Hell and Work is Hell and saying to myself,
"Damn! This guy really is telling the truth here!"  One of the episodes in his book
Work is Hell is about an abusive, paranoid and viscious boss and it's entitled.
Lonely Tyrant.  At that time I was working for an idiot who fit the description exactly.
He couldn't understand why he couldn't trust anybody and why nobody liked him.
If ever a lizard was he was.

At this point in time, I understand that Matt Groening just oversees the operations and
all the best writers money can buy are sitting around and coming up with the wildest
funniest and weirdest situations and dialogue that anyone has ever seen.
And yes, Zonabi, now that The Simpsons has been running for so long it has
become a vehicle where they're getting more and more daring in everything.

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

a couple things i can remember from yesterdays show:

- chinese culture "dragons" were shown a few times (the show was centered around adopting a chinese baby) and in a plane trip to china, homer sees a white dragon floating beside the plane, it asks him "give me your peanuts and ill let you ride on my back" homer replies "ill give you ONE..." to which the white dragon says "you are a greedy man, the other dragon will hear about this..." and it flies away...

then , as the plane descends into china, three dragons (one white, one red, and i believe the last one was blue, might have been yellow) are shown in the sky, and one pulls out a violin and begins playing a sad song, and all three dragons begin crying out rainbows from their eyes....

then, at the very end of the episode, the three dragons are shown dancing in the sky again, singing a chant that ends ..."when we return the world will end..."

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

Lyra, if you get a chance - watch a few of these more recent episodes of Simpson’s.  I don't watch much TV programs (don't have TV receiving abilities any more), but Simpson’s is one of the things I do try and watch.

Whilst its sense of humour isn't exactly hysterical nowadays - it has grown far beyond the older episodes you would have seen, and is little to do with Bart and more to do with Homer.  He seems to get into very odd situations.  Indeed the Symbolism of the past few years shows seems to have increased to such a high level as to back the episodes totally whacked.

Shows the power of the program to keep people watching even though half the time it makes no sense (unless you understand the symbolisms).

As to the shows longitivity; I wonder often if Fox really do have any control over this show now.  There have been so many negative references to Fox over the years.  For example, Homer watching Fox on the TV and Bart taking the piss out of him.

On another occasion Bart and Homer discuss the possibility of Fox producing some decent programs...but then stop, look at each other and burst out laughing.

Then around the time of the last elections, Homer was watching the "news" on his TV.  A reporter was talking out in the open - in the background a truck goes by with a great big FOX logo with totally obvious advertisement for Republicans.    Quite openly the show was saying Fox are biased toward Bush and his cronies.

Not to mention all the episodes whereby the Simpson take a dig at Rupert Murdoch.

So yes - it is all satire (and distraction to some extent) but all these things really leave me wondering...

You can get a bunch of episodes from here torrentreactor.to/torrents/section_30 you just need a bittorrent client to download them.  Just place copy / paste the bold text into your browser (I don't like to put links out for this sort of thing cuz of the referals they will leave).

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

FOX has ABSOLOUTELY NO CONTROL over the Simpsons.  There is a clause in the contract that states FOX cannot make any changes whatsoever to the show and they must accept it as it is.  That's it and that's that.  It's apparent throughout the show... there must be at least 1 reference every episode to how stupid FOX is, or how much they suck... One episode in particular comes to mind, it's when there's is a cameo of Ray Romano and he's hyping up his Everybody Loves Raymond show and Homer asked him repeatedly which network his show was on "It's on CBS""CBS" "My Show is on CBS at 7:00" Everybody Loves Raymond is on CBS"

The Simpsons is a show for the History Books, it touches upon all sorts of social issues in sattire.
It is the greatest GOOD WHOLESOME show, with a Racey Edge.  No matter how much Bart angers Lisa, no matter how stupid and self-servind  Homer is, by the end of every episode a lesson is learned.... Bart stands up for Lisa, Lisa Protects Bart, Homer does right by his family, Marge is the greatest strongest woman in the world, and Maggie is still alive!

Re: The Simpsons & Reptiles

I'm reading (and now writing) this on the commercials. Apu, his wife, and their octoplets on leashes are in line at a pre-kindergarden, trying to get their kids in so they'll have a future. The octoplets are fighting. Apu says, "That is right, children, scratch and claw to be first. We only have tuition money for two of you. For the rest, there's always your next life."

Later, when they find out Maggie has an IQ of 167, the pre-kindergarden director exclaims, "167, that's amazing for a Christian!"

What a great board. Where else can you have an intelligent thread about Homer. DOH!
