Topic: Visitations! Think I need some advice :(

For the past year, during the morning before I wake up - I experience very odd "dreams".  I put dreams in quotes because I don't believe that's entirely what they are.

Last night I went to sleep shortly after midnight - I woke up around 5.45 totally refreshed and awake.  However I thought "It's still early I can have more sleep".  So I went back to sleep and again awoke still refreshed at about 6.30, and again told myself to go back to sleep.

I did this two more times at around 7.30 and 8.30.

Then the odd dreams began.  I wake up in my bed, and feel a presence near me (this presence used to scare me, but it now longer does).  At this point I know I am asleep, but even though I am dreaming - I can see the room around me.  Usually I try and wake myself up at this point.

I then get that rushing feeling like when you pull yourself out of a dream, only I don't wake up.  I get "sucked" back again - and merely wake up into another dream still set inside my bedroom.  Sometimes I actually get up and move about the room and the house in these dreams.  As soon as I realise what is going on, I literally struggle to wake up.  But cannot do so - I just find myself back in my bed asleep yet aware of my surroundings.

Now very often these "dreams" seem to have an energetic charge to them, sometimes sexual in nature, but othertimes there is a very intense curiosity and feeling of discovery.  Sometimes it feels as though that energy is leaking out of me, on other occasions it feels as though I am there of my own will.

This morning was the most prolonged occurrence thus far, in that in my dream I spoke to the presence that was next to the bed.  “Take it!"  were the words I used.  I then felt myself shift sideways towards the location of the presence.  Suddenly aware of what was happening I pulled myself back again and attempted to wake up.  Yet again only to awake into another dream.

I don’t know how many times this occurred.  But when I finally awoke properly the time was around 9.30.

These occurrences have been going on for about a year now as I mentioned earlier.  However they did stop for a few months but again seem to be restarting.

They only seem to happen when I allow myself to sleep for too long.  Clearly the answer is to get myself out of bed when I first wake up.  However, I never seem able to do this.

On a separate note (but it maybe related), I have noticed that strange thoughts keep coming into my head of a negative nature.  These usually are of some form of loss or pain.  For example, if I am pouring water from the kettle – a sudden negative thought form imagines me spilling the water on me.  Right now as I write this – a negative thought form tells me that putting this out in the open will be a negative act.  However these thoughts don’t appear to be my own.

I don’t want to come off as though I am crazy now.  I don’t believe I have any psychological issues – or that I am mad (though naturally I have considered it :D ).  That just doesn’t feel “right"  though.

I do have a feeling this second issue has to do with certain problems I have currently (for example financial issues which are causing me worry).  I attempted some exercises mentioned on another thread here at NR recently – I imagined the negativity as a ball of energy in my hands.  I then felt a lot of pressure in my palms, and when I tried to “compact"  the pressure, my hands repelled against each other.  It felt exactly the same as when you try and push to magnets of the same polarity together.  I released this “energy"  outside.

After doing that exercise the negative thought forms ceased.

So now I am looking for advice on both these issues – cuz I think I need to hear other peoples opinions on this.

I don’t believe the two issues are directly related.  The negative thought forms have only been present for the last two months or so (since the beginning of my financial issues), whilst the “dreams"  have been ongoing for the past year.

So I would really appreciate some comments from people on this.  Of either like or similar experiences.  Or just thoughts, comments, opinions on what is occurring.  And if you can – then some advice on what I can do – or maybe some form of exercises I can do…

Thanks…

Re: Visitations! Think I need some advice :(

Dear Marcus,

I got a prickly feeling on the top of my head when I read your post, as I too have had similar feelings related to my dreams.  While I've tried to come up with some good explanations that my mind would accept, I have to acknowledge that there is probably more involved and my mind will have to expand a little.   As I've read all of Robert Monroe's books, these experiences no longer seem frightening to me, although I admit, before I read about them and was having them, I thought I was maybe going crazy, had a brain tumor, a chemical imbalance, or at worst, was having supernatural beings (a demon or something) interacting with me.

Since reading Robert's books, I've learned that these experiences are "natural" and that as our consciousness grows and expands, we begin to be more awake and aware in our altered states.  I respectfully suggest that you are awakening to a deeper level of your self and the nature of its existence.  Awakening, or becoming, or liberation is nothing, absolutely nothing other than perceiving profoundly, deeply, and intuitively.  While your intitial experience may be strange, it will pass as it becomes familiar territory.

My best advise is to go with the flow.  Relax your mind and let your higher self come through and intuitively explain your experiences.  The mind will come up with all manner of hodge podge and only add confusion.  Remind yourself before you go to sleep that you are powerful and loving, and nothing can harm you.  Ask what you are to learn from these dreams and experiences.  If you ask, I'm sure you'll get an answer.  The mind will try to jump in with it's own messages and agenda, but listen with your heart and you'll be rewarded with more than you expect.

Don't let these feelings of being awake-not awake frighten you.  You are becoming lucid in the higher states and simply need to get your sea legs.

Sweet and fruitful dreams my friend.

Enlightenment happens!  Attachment to the ego-self leads one into delusion; but faith in one's Buddha nature leads one to enlightenment.

Marcus,

It sounds like you are having sleep paralysis that eventually goes on to astral projection.  The physical feeling can be terrifying as to the sleep paralysis, sort of like a loss of control of sorts, only the "pull" is very hard to get out of.  Yes, the energenic change you mentioned does feel sexual in nature, I've had that same thing as well as another family member......UGH  sad

During a very stressful period in my life many years ago, this would occur every day, most often when sleeping on my back, napping in the afternoon, and body temp. being very warm.  I lived alone at the time and was sick, both body and spirit.

I wonder if is associated with a dissociative process somehow; most likely due to stress , perhaps a natural process of our nature. This natural "process" could be making us more vulnerable to negative attack, or could also be something that helps us heal.  Almost like psychic working out to strengthen us, dunno.  Hope I make sense  wink

I DO know someone who has been having something similar to what you describe, and that person did have some pretty horrible trauma occur from very early childhood.  She is doing much better now and has been able to overcome a lot of the crappola that goes along with trauma.

Try sleeping on your side-this seemed to make me less prone to this experience. Having someone else with you in bed can be very helpful when the overwhelming fear occurs, just make sure you've got a good feel about that particular person.  Reassurance after being so utterly frightened helps sooooo much.  Good luck wink

Then you have time for everything.
   You're never in a hurry.
That's true freedom.

Re: Visitations! Think I need some advice :(

Waking up when youre body is ready to wake up is key, it's worse on your system to stay asleep, in the sense that if your body/mind/soul is ready to be 'awake' it's usually a sign that something's going on that needs your attention.

Then the odd dreams began.  I wake up in my bed, and feel a presence near me (this presence used to scare me, but it now longer does).  At this point I know I am asleep, but even though I am dreaming - I can see the room around me.  Usually I try and wake myself up at this point.

I'm familiar with that one, and I have a few ideas about 'who' it might be in my case, but in yours I have no idea. Sometimes it can be scary, but generally once I started clearing all the crap out of my whole system (body/mind/spirit) it became less of a problem and less scary. Hope that's what you're going through as well to some degree. A healing process I mean.

This used to be called astral projection, though I find that if I keep going with this 'dream' state it becomes reality as good as if I wasn't in bed. Not sure how to explain that exaclty but it happens with me and so naturally now that it's not even a draining experience, except when random items seem to get misplaced. (this morning i know i had somehting in my pocket at one palce I stopped, at hte second place it was gone, and then it turns out I left it at home.. whatever)

Now very often these "dreams" seem to have an energetic charge to them, sometimes sexual in nature, but othertimes there is a very intense curiosity and feeling of discovery.  Sometimes it feels as though that energy is leaking out of me, on other occasions it feels as though I am there of my own will.

Good, keep going with that process of integrating the experience, you're on the right track. Nothing I can add to it right now, except that you might want to redifine what you call sexual energy or how you percieve sex as energy if there's an issue with libido involved.

I had the experience of something inside me that wasn't supposed to be there, this sounds like a simliar experience of the events in question in my own life, though I cannot be certain, the problem is the thing usually is so integrated into you if it's been there for too long that it's hard to tell if it's seperate from you and thus someitmes you feel it's sensations as your own and vise versa, that's part of the problem with this sort of thing in my experience. No need to be worried about it, if you feel that this is seriously the case, talk to people YOU trust who would know what to do if that was actually the case. Don't be afraid to sound wierd, more people will understand what you mean than you think, just ALWAYS make it perfectly clear that you will not agree to anything that isn't explained to you to the best of their ability, in other words, don't give your will away, you are willing this problem away the best you can and you need experienced help. Make sense? That's the best way I could deal with this as a male. (women might have an easier time with trust than men in the modern culture in my experience, depending on where you're comming from here.)

See above, and always make sure that your intentions are clear to whatever your are sensing, voice or esp or both your pains, your struggles, your intentions, whatever is working with you might not be able to understand your perceptions fully without that. And thigns that have negative intentions cannot really harm you when you are being as honest and complete about your needs/experiences/will as possible. Clarity above all when dealing with things of that nature.

You're right, that could be something in your past inter-related, a fear of embarassment coupled with the fact that you were percieving perhaps a possible scenario before it happened and were able to correct it in a way that is non linear perhaps? That's how i've begun to percieve some of these negative thought forms, though that there was something giving you the sense that you shouldn't tell tells me that something is involved that isn't very benificial to your progress. Good luck.

I don’t want to come off as though I am crazy now.  I don’t believe I have any psychological issues – or that I am mad (though naturally I have considered it big_smile ).  That just doesn’t feel “right"  though.

Madness is a condition akin to genius in which the those whom you interact with most might not be able to understand what you are understanding and their negative programming can affect you in a larger way than most people realize, not just a basic emotional/conservational way. Trust your instincts here, it's better advice than most people will give you about 'problems' that have physical or psychological manifestations that were once mis-named as crazy, mad, etc. You're NOT CRAZY. You're just riding edges of things that many people find disconcerting or scarry. You're doing very well here by my accounts.

All things are inter-related, seing the source of the problems or percieving the source and removing them in any way that is necessary is key to health. Do what you can, what you know you can do, and keep going. Never give up. Peace Marcus (Not Rexan, by chance? ^_-)

Thanks…
