Topic: The 4400

I've just been reading another article in todays Sunday Times about a new tv show starting soon in the UK that's already been shown in the States. However, after doing a search, I don't think anyone here has ever mentioned it.

Anyway it's called 'The 4400' and is another drama series all about the alien abduction phenomena. "It's better than Taken, but not as good as the best of The X-Files" according to the Times.

It seems to have been getting good reviews. Can anybody here say whether it's worth watching or not? I'm sure the fact that it's a mainstream tv show means that it's been crammed full of disinformation, but I will probably watch it anyway to check it out.

This is a bit of a late reply Ayahuacsa, but I've only just seen your post (checked to see if anyone had talked about it before I do now).  I watched The 4400 this week and found it better than the Taken and not as diverse in the topics covered as the X-Files.

My husband and I also discussed whether it was disinformation or whether some good information had managed to sneak through into the mainstream.  But like anything, I reckon if you can find something in it that gets you thinking in another way, or inspires you etc, then its worth watching. 

It adds a new slant other than just alien abductions.  Also it manages to bring up the fact that civil rights in America have been drastically curtailed since 911.  And shows how government agents can pretty much do what they want, when they want to further their aims.  I thought that was a good point to quietly get in there, as I don't know how open the US government has been in sharing its latest freedom-curtailing laws with its trusting public. cool

I did have a couple of questions come out of it in terms of actual 'permitted' (as in universal laws) ability for time travel to the past.  But thinking about time scenarios is mind-boggling at the best of times, so I gave up wondering about something I can't possibly solve right now lol 

I would say it is worth getting out on DVD though. Well made enough with a refreshing twist to make it worth a watch  ... Have you or anyone here seen it yet - it has been 5 months since you posted this topic.

I've been wondering about this show since Aya first wrote it. At last the first episode was on air in a cable channel here in Turkey. I sat in front of the TV for a long time after the show finished. The acting is below average, directing is bad etc. So this is not about "tv art". This is absolutely about giving some info/insight. Is it disinformation or good information sneaking into main stream as Cipher said? I believe the latter. There are really very interesting movies/shows on air lately.
We'll see where these will lead us.

Wow! I've watched the last episode of season 1 last night. Absolutely great. I still think the acting and directing is bad, but the message was clear and very effective in the last episode;
"Today is the 'key' time. Make your choice & start to act now"
The same message is in Star Wars Epispode III too. Choose darkside or positive side. It's no coincidence that this movie is released nowadays. I think we are reaching to some very interesting times.

P.S: I was watching a German Bundesliga match last week and saw big advertisements near the pitch: "Der Neue 911. Im Summer."
Oh, it was Porsche 911's new ad. Nothing to be alarmed about.
