Does anyone know how this pope relates to the St. Malachy prophecies and whatnot?  He's supposed to be next to last, DE GLORIA OLIVAE - of the glory of the olive.  People have said that meant he'd be a Benedictine (monk I think?), and I guess there's other prophecies that this is supposed to be the "black pope."

(I apologize if this info has already been printed in another thread).

Malachy's Prophecies - The Last 10 Popes
St. Malachy (1094-1148)

Malachy's Prophecies - The Last 10 Popes

1. The Burning Fire. PIUS X. 1903-1914. This Pope showed a burning passion for spiritual renewal in the Church.

2. Religion Laid Waste. BENEDICT XV. 1914-1922. During this Pope's reign saw Communism move into Russia where religious life was laid waste, and World War I with the death of millions of Christians who were carnage in Flanders Field and elsewhere.

3. Unshaken Faith. PIUS XI. 1922-1939. This Pope faced tremendous pressure from fascist and sinister powers in Germany and Italy, but he was an outspoken critic of Communism and Fascism which enraged Hitler.

4. An Angelic Shepherd. PIUS XII. 1939-1958. This Pope had an affinity for the spiritual world and received visions which have not been made public. Peter Bander says Pius XII "has emerged as one of the great Popes of all time," and he "was in the truest sense of the word an Angelic Pastor to the flock..."

5. Pastor and Mariner. JOHN XXIII. 1958-1963. John was a pastor to the world, much beloved, and the Patriarch of Venice. The connection to "mariner" is thus remarkable.

6. Flower of Flowers. PAUL VI. 1963-1978. Paul's coat-of-arms depicts three fleurs-de-lis, corresponding to Malachay's prophecy. His coat of arms included three fleurs-de-lis (iris blossoms).

7. Of the Half Moon. JOHN PAUL I. 1978-1978. John Paul I was elected Pope on August 26, 1978, when there was a half moon. He reigned 33 days, that is, about one month, when he died, although many think he was murdered. He was the 109th Pope - is "De Medietate Lunae" (Of the Half Moon). The corresponding pope was John Paul I (1978-78), who was born in the diocese of Belluno (beautiful moon) and was baptized Albino Luciani (white light). He became pope on August 26, 1978, when the moon appeared exactly half full. It was in its waning phase. He died the following month, soon after an eclipse of the moon.

8. The Labor of the Son. JOHN PAUL II. 1978-Present. John Paul II is the most travelled Pope in history. He has circled the globe numerous times, preaching to huge audiences everywhere he goes. Even though he was once shot, he has not seemed to slow down. He has recently written a book which has enjoyed a large circulation. Like the sun which never ceases to labor and provides light daily, this Pope has been incessant. John Paul II was born on May 18, 1920. On that date in the morning there was a near total eclipse of the sun over Europe. TProphecy - The 110th Pope is "De Labore Solis" (Of the Solar Eclipse, or, From the Toil of the Sun). The corresponding pope is John Paul II (1978-present). John Paul II was born on May 8, 1920 during an eclipse of the sun. Like the sun he came out of the East (Poland). Like the sun he has visited countries all around the globe while doing his work (he is the most-traveled pope in history).

9. The Glory of the Olive. The Order of St. Benedict has said this Pope will come from their order. It is interesting that Jesus gave his apocalyptic prophecy about the end of time from the Mount of Olives. This Pope will reign during the beginning of the tribulation Jesus spoke of. The 111th prophesy is "Gloria Olivae" (The Glory of the Olive). The Order of Saint Benedict has claimed that this pope will come from their ranks. Saint Benedict himself prophesied that before the end of the world his Order, known also as the Olivetans, will triumphantly lead the Catholic Church in its fight against evil.

10. PETER THE ROMAN - This final Pope will likely be Satan, taking the form of a man named Peter who will gain a worldwide allegiance and adoration. He will be the final antichrist which prophecy students have long foretold. If it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. The 112th prophesy states: "In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Petrus Romanus, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End."

Malachy's final words:

In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock among many tribulations; after which the seven-hilled city (Rome, the seat of the Vatican) will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people.

I try to avoid using the terms good/evil but this is just what I thought when I saw a picture of him.  I thought "You mean THIS guy is going to be the pope!?"  This is just a first reaction from looking at a picture, and not based on any type of research.

April 19th is also a very significant date (Oklahoma City Bombing, WACO massacre)

This was in today's NY Daily News:

"But it was not until 13 minutes later that the great 11-ton bell of St Peter's Basilica pealed out the news...gradually the bells on all 333 parish churches in Rome joined in.."

As usual, they're right in our face, as they always are, signifying their total control over the process...

Very interesting with regard to the numbers and the dates.  Reminds me of what we have been discussing in Bhang's movie thread.

Hi Lakme, I have two notes concerning Peter the Roman.

I discovered that this wikipedia entry says:
"The last entry about Peter Romanus seems to have appeared sometime after 1820 and thus may not be part of the original prophesy. Obviously this calls into question the accuracy of the last motto."
This link mentions the following:
"The problem with the prophecies as listed in The Prophecies of St. Malachy, published by the Thomas A. Nelson, a Catholic Publishing House, is that Malachy's original works listed only 111 Popes, not 112, as given in the TAN version of the prophecies. Sometime between the first and subsequent printings the 112th, Petrus Romanus, was added to Malachy's prophecy."

But according to this post Petrus Romanus was part of the 16th century publication, forgery or not. Who is right and who is wrong?

On another note I have difficulty finding who originated the interpretation you listed as Peter the Roman as being the antichrist.
Where does that come from? It is certainly not evident from the words attributed to St. Malachy above as it only states that Peter the Roman will reign and will feed his flock amid many tribulations. Nothing more, there is no qualification whatsoever.
Could it be that this antichrist interpretation was influenced by comments from people like Fr. Martin Malachy?

"In regards to such prophecies Martin noted that perhaps Pope 111 will be the last pope, the Olive pope also known as the “Black Pope  or the Antichrist pope as opposed to the #112 Pope to be called Peter Romanus. Martin also indicated that there might be an intervening pope between #’s 111 and 112. It seemed in listening to his last few media appearances that he believed Pope John Paul II might be the last good Pope after all. Of course, he also indicated that #111 might only reign as Pope for a few days, weeks or months before an untimely death like Pope John Paul the First who lived only 2 months."

From Fr. Malachi Martin FAQ:
"What do you think about the prophecies of Saint Malachy? He said there would only be two more popes after the Slavic Pope.
I cannot explain the accuracy of St. Malachy ´s description of individual popes. His list implies there will be two more popes after John Paul II. We believe that John Paul II is the last pope of Catholic times, but this does not mean there won't be other popes; obviously, not popes of Catholic times."

From an interview:
#7. When Pope John Paul II dies what do you believe will happen at the Conclave? Could an Anti-Pope be elected to the Chair of Peter? Is it possible for a truly traditional Pope to be elected or can we expect more of the same or worse?
Answer: Fr. Malachi: "The next Pope will bring even more confusion into the Church than already exists."

I doubt if Fr. Malachi Martin would designate John Paul II as the last good, catholic pope, and Benedict XVI as a black pope as their theological views and acts are nearly identical, very much in line with Malachy's own conservative theological stance. Like Fr. Malachy Martin pope Benedict XVI wants nothing to do with talk of creation spirituality and tolerance of homosexuality. If anything Benedict XVI might be a bit less charismatic then John Paul II and reminding me of uncle fester. A bit to conservative for me, but this hardly makes him the devil in my view.

It could be that both John Paul II and Benedict XVI are weak fathers to Fr. Malachy Martin, from the same Fr. Malachi Martin FAQ:
"Why do you suppose that Pope John Paul II excommunicated the saintly Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and does nothing to bishops like: Weakland, Gumbleton, Mahoney, Bernardin, Clark?
In the spiritual reality of the church, neither Marcel Lefebvre, nor his bishops and priests, nor the people who frequent the SSPX chapels suffered or suffer excommunication. I believe history will record that the intent to impose such an excommunication was invalid and illicit."

This link, including comments by Lefebvre bishop Williamson on Malachi Martin supports the latter view. Appearently it is possible to be even more conservative then Benedict XVI.
Archbishop Levebvre a saint? I think this is over the top, together with Malachy Martins conservative traditionalist theology this makes me doubtful of the objectivity of Malachi Martins comments on other matters.

It seems to me Malachi Martin is in league with Levebvres SSPX. I found some even more conservative roman catholic group commenting on how Malachi Martin is not really a catholic, next to all the imposter cardinals and imposter pope as according to them Pius XII was the last real pope (and there never will be one again because of the dying out of the apostolic succession).

Re: New Pope: 666

Here's a little twist from real life.  I have four women clients who are all Catholic. (I'm a massage therapist and my table is often like I'm the bartender at a bar).  Out of curiosity I asked them, "so, what do you think of the new Pope?"  All four gave me the distinct impression that they were not pleased.  AND... all four indicated that they would be following their own conscience, and not that of the Pope.  Not knowing anything about Catholics I said, "Is that allowed."  They all gave their version of what they thought and excused away any conception that they might be doing something wrong or un-Catholic.

I'm not sure I understand, but I could only guess it's because they are all AMERICAN WOMEN who are so liberated that they feel they can interpret their Religion as needed.  It seemed to me that they all want to be known as Catholic, but only want to follow the rules that suit them. One said "I'm a Catholic, but not a practicing Catholic."   What's that mean?

One asked me if I was Catholic, to which I answered no.  "But you are a Christian?" she retorted.  "No", I said.  She practically leaped off the table.  I told her to calm down, and that I didn't worship Satan or anything like that.  I changed the subject and that was that but I could tell it was bothering her - the body doesn't lie.

Good one, sheesh!  Yes, I know what you mean.   At work, there's a bellhop who reads the bible in between doing hops.   I mean, this guy is fanatical die hard, he spends his entire Sundays doing church stuff from morning til afternoon, hours at a time in worship, then bible discussions afterward.

Meanwhile, he doesn't conduct himself like a Christian.  Several coworkers have noticed the um, kinda hypocritcal-ness in his behavior.  Always talks about wanting to divorce his wife, how he's not into her anymore, blah blah blah.  (She doesn't know this, of course.  So it's back stabbing smack talk.)  He openly checks out and comments on girls that go through the lobby.   He's lazy as hell, and it's all you can do to get him to do his job.   He WILL NOT do ANYTHING if there's not the potential to make a tip.  Even if it's his job, or the guest needs help.   If $$$$$$$$$$ isn't involved, he won't move.  He's gotten into "verbal exchanges" with several female coworkers.....even PUSHED one once, and got written up for it.   He's already half way to being fired anyway, but that's the gist.

And then there was the time that he asked me, "You go to church?"

I smiled and just calmly shook my head from side to side.  No.  Smile.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The look on his face.   Wow-eee!  His smile faded, then he caught it, and so now it was sort of frozen in this tense, half smile, and his body tensed up, just nervous body language and twitching going on.   He stammered a little, but tried to play it off, and ended the conversation we were having and walked away.

I admit that it made me feel a smidgeon frustrated at the judgmental thing going on.  That I was "cool" to talk to........five minutes ago.  But now that he knows I don't go to church.....that I'm not even Christian................now things have changed.   I don't go around asking people "DO YOU GO TO CHURCH?"   Like that has anything to do with anything!   I don't "judge" people based on their religious beliefs.   If you're cool, then you're cool.   All I care about when dealing with people is ---- ARE YOU NICE????   Or are you going to be snotty and rude?    If you're nice, that's all that matters to me.  If we can be friendly and get along...then great!   Woohoo!   smile

I mean, everything's cool now, but anytime I see him talking about the bible, his church, his bible groups, and Jesus this and God that - which is a lot! - ("I have the spirit of the LORD flowin' through me!!!" he said to me last week....)  I just shake my head.   yeah, yeah, whatever.  sure ya do.    For many the Bible - Christianity - Jesus - God thing is a way to make them feel better about themselves, to fill in some missing hole, to elevate them up above others.   They are more righteous, more noble, more holy.    Stuart Wilde talks about this ALL the time.  It's all an act.   It's a slapped on facade.

But then in all fairness, there are what I call TRUE Christians.........They don't have to constantly go around proclaiming to the world that they're Christian............they just live it!    They are the real deal.  They have studied the teachings of Jesus, and try to incorporate that mentality into their life.   They're not hypocritical, not judgmental, they're just good people.   I've met a few.   I wish all Christians could be like that.   I'm tired of dealing with the ones like that bellhop at work.  I don't get frustrated anymore about it though, I just see it for what it is now and tune it out.   That's about all you can do.

ANYway..............back to the Pope.   As thoughtcrime said......."Pope pope pope!!"   big_smile

Some people wear Christianity like a Halloween mask.

Acquiring fringe knowledge is like digging for diamonds in a mine field.

Re: New Pope: 666

You all would DIE if you could have seen the Halloween Costume that my girlfriend's uncle made 2 years back.

It was a Priest Outfit, pretty typical black robe with that little white square on the collar etc...

BUT, what he did was he got some little kid's clothing- some blue jeans, a flannel shirt, and some shoes- and he attached all this clothes together and then stuffed it with crap so that it looked like a person in there-

THEN he proceeded to attach this makeshift boy to his waist with a rope- positioning the "boy" down there to look like the "boy" was ... "pleasuring" him.

Oh My God was it the most hilarious (and controversial) costume ive ever seen.

He almost got into some trouble for it during the halloween parties we went to.

Following your conscience is allowed and preferred (there is a paragraph in the catechism). The pope can say whatever he wants, and he will be taken seriously, but people must way his words with their conscience (unless the pope proclaims something like: the immaculate conception, then you have to belief this on faith). More on the doctrine here: http://www.cs.rutgers.edu/pub/soc.relig … allibility
For women active in the Roman Catholic church Cardinal Ratzinger was the person who blocked movements in the church to give women more responsibilities, one is free to dislike or protest against policies like this within the church, effective or not.
On the other hand, the church is understandebly a slow mover, and perhaps this smart Pope Benedict XVI has some surprises up his sleeve before he passes.

Odd, if she was a bit unhappy with the choice of the pope one would think she was less conservative and more tolerant of people of a different faith.
Even so, wouldn't she have known that there is a possibility that the massage therapist was of a different covenant?

[[sorry, haven't learned how to do the quote thing yet]]

I believe she was surprised that I said I wasn't a Christian.... because I look like one.  I mean I'm not ethnic looking which would make most assume something else.  People tend to assume a lot of things.  All my clients, except one, are Christian and I believe they all "assume" I'm a Christian.  I've never found any of these 4 women to be very tolerant of beliefs outside their own thoughts.

She would have no way to know what I am, or am not as I never discuss my personal beliefs (religion, politics).  My clients only know superficial things about me. They come to me for therapy, not the other way around.

Re: New Pope: 666

Things that jump out at me, regarding Joseph Alois Ratzinger:

1. Same middle name as Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger.
2. Born on 4/16, in 1927 - makes him 78, or 19.5 x 4.
3. Native of Bavaria, bringing the Illuminati into mind.
4. Elected Pope on the *FOURTH* vote, needing 77 votes.
5. White smoke from the chimney at 5:50pm local time.
6. Did dissertations on Saints Augustine and Bonaventure.
7. Jeff ISRAELY, Time correspondent, was told by a Vatican
insider last month, "The Ratzinger solution is definitely on."
8. The EIGHTH German Pope (4 + 4), and first since 1523.
9. Seen as a "scientist" who prefers intellectual discussion.
10. Speaks *10* languages (the number is symbolic)
11. Wrote "Truth and Tolerance" in which he denounces
the use of tolerance as an excuse to distort the truth.
{and I give him "props" for writing about that -HB}
12. Oldest cardinal elected since CLEMENT #12, also 78.
13. The bells sounded 13 minutes after the white smoke.

AND... THE GRAND FINALE:

In numerology, B = 2... thus, B 16 = 216 = 6 x 6 x 6 yikes

Re: New Pope: 666

Hi, all. I have read this thread with great interest for many reasons. As an ex (Irish) catholic it has taken me many, many years to rid myself of the guilt and lack of worthiness that comes with this organised religion. I've seen good people nearly destroyed by priests that won't allow separation, divorce and so they are stuck in a loveless marriage. But the thing I hate most is that it is always '' Gods Will'', implying that free will isn't even an option. I was very interested to see which pope would emerge as the next so called leader. And I wasn't dissapointed. Another conservative, anti homosexual and anti contraception. What the hell did I expect. And I really have to agree that the guy does look creepy!!!! I don't like to judge either but the feeling was totally instinctive. ....So, nothing's going to change. Nor world debt challenged.  The whole thing makes me sick. I know it's a black power. The symbology is extraordinary even in a normal mass. I really hope that the catholics, muslims, jews etc wake up and start exercising their own free will and look into their hearts.... Here's hoping. x
