Topic: Apparitions visible upon awakening from sleep

I have lately begun seeing apparitions as I first open my eyes when I wake up.  I was warned by someone I now work closely with that this might begin occuring, as they have been experiencing the same thing for several years.  They are convinced that it is a sign of being watched over (protected) by higher powers while they are sleeping.  The obvious implication is that some people may be at special risk for non-physical forms of attack while sleeping.

Last week, I opened my eyes to see an odd blob-like entity with a smaller "head" appendage at the top which contained one eye looking at me and which blinked several times before fading away.  From the time I first opened my eyes to the time it faded was a good 5-10 seconds.

Today, I woke up to see a human figure of indeterminate sex at my feet, facing sideways from me and looking downward, with striking hair, good looking face, and motionless.  It faded within approximately one second of my opening my eyes, so I can't really describe it in any further detail other than to say it was a distinct human-looking entity I saw, not a vague form, trick of light, etc -- in other words, there is no room for doubt as to what I saw.

I'm curious if anyone else has heard of this phenomenon, and would be most interested in hearing what they may know about it.

Re: Apparitions visible upon awakening from sleep

I've had this a couple times in the past, but only when I'm in a half-waking half-sleep state ... which tends to fade away pretty quickly. At night, if I'm really tired, sometimes I try lying down and closing my eyes just enough to doze off, then catch myself and suddenly open my eyes. This allows relatively unfiltered visual information to stream in before my brain returns to normal firewall mode. For around two or three seconds I can see what appear to be thoughtforms in my field of vision. They are not products of my eyesight because they stay in place against the external background, but are nonphysical because they fade away pretty quickly.

Somehow it takes a nonlinear state of mind to perceive the nonlinear aspects of our environment...ever finish up with a dream and prior to awakening you're going over the "dream logic" of it which makes perfect sense, but as you return to waking consciousness all of a sudden it starts becoming more garbled? Well, visual perception may follow a similar transition.

Now -- if only we could attain this trance-like "subspace" perception and use it at will... it's an occult/shamanistic thing that can be cultivated but I haven't had the time, energy, and discipline to do so. You seem to be naturally on track with this, so keep it up!

Anyone else have semi-sleep visual experiences like these? We may have talked about some of these on the sleep paralysis thread.

Acquiring fringe knowledge is like digging for diamonds in a mine field.

Re: Apparitions visible upon awakening from sleep

I have had this a number of times also.  The most recent one being (after a dream of nuclear disaster and being in the "after life") awakening to seeing a giant teddie bear in my room.  I do wonder now if it actually did appear to me as a teddie or if it was just how my brain interpreted.  I remember in that "dream logic" state looking at it and thinking "Hey, a giant teddie" as though it made perfect sense.  After a few seconds it faded away.  One distintive feature it had were large oval black eyes.

Other intances are awakening - opening my eyes - and the room appearing all distorted.  As though it didn't fit into 3d perception any longer.  Only after a conscious effort of will was I able to make myself see things "correctly" again.  This seems to say to me that our interpritation of 3d environments is altered one hell of a lot by our brain.  This has happened to me quite a few times.

Re: Apparitions visible upon awakening from sleep

Yes, I've had something similar to what you describe, have mentioned both my encounters here on the forum.  Both times I was asleep and dreaming;  During the first encounter, my dream took a sudden emotional turn, and I got violent and aggro in the dream.....then my subconscious sensed something in the room with me and my eyes flew open abruptly, and I saw a round entity thing right up in my face, hovering over me, as if it were investigating me or something.  It was the cause for my dream suddenly taking that crazy turn.  The thing hovering over me was round, and had these spiky things radiating out all around it which moved, or radiated.  Don't know how else to describe it.   When my eyes popped open, the thing jumped back, startled, not expecting me to wake up like that.  It retreated away from me, moving deeper into the room, up and backwards, into the shadows, growing smaller and smaller as it did, until it was finally gone.   It took about 10 - 15 seconds for that to happen.  That was in California, back in 2000.   The next time something like that happened was here in Virginia, a couple of months ago.   Was asleep, dreaming, and again I sensed something in the room, watching me.  Eyes popped open and there was another round entity thing hovering over me, watching me.  This one was different, was actually shaped like this ceramic sun plaque I have on my wall in the other room.   Had the same wavy shaped ray things extending out from it.   Like the other one, it was startled that I woke up so suddenly like that and it jumped back and retreated up to the left, choosing to hide up in the darkest corner of the room, growing smaller as it moved up to the dark corner.   I watched it, intrigued.   Didn't feel any fear though.

Have also rented a room for 6 months in a house that had a very angry male presense wandering around.   He had a penchant for standing at the end of people's beds at night, just fuming and emitting pissed off vibes.   wink   He was always at the end of my bed, night after night, angry as hell.   I was too scared to open my eyes, but I could feel him.  Got my other roommates to 'fess up to their experiences with him as well.   They were nervous, thinking they had been imagining it until I broached the subject.   Story for another time I guess.  wink

Not sure what your experiences are all about, if it's good or bad or not.   I'm not very knowledgable about what's what in the non-physical world.   Maybe intend for some protection, might be a good idea....
