Topic: MSG

Anyone heard of MSG before? It is an additive which makes food addictive, much like some additives added in tobacco. It is apparently used widely in the food industry to increase its revenue and it creates all kind of illnesses.

Re: MSG

Yes, it is monosodium glutamate. It is a food additve that "enhances" the flavour of the food and other spices used. It gives some people headaches and probably other problems. Rather than it being addictive in particular, I think it is the whole processing(nutrient depleting) and additives a s a whole that leave our body wanting more food to satisfy it. Most of these foods are carb rich with fat and either salt or sugar which aside from less than zero nutritional value they manipulate your hormones. Seretonin(feel good hormone response why people eat sweets when depressed) and large anounts of insulin which lead to fat storage and because of the high insulin, your blood sugar eventually drops causing you to 'need' to repeat the cycle.

Re: MSG

MSG has many aliases, which I don't recall offhand, but the PTB have allowed
manufacturers to hide it under these many pseudonyms.

Another ingredient which is in almost everything is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP.
It's not just another sweetner, it blocks your brain's sensors which tell you
that you've had enough to eat!  So anything which uses this is basically
making you crave more and more of it, thereby increasing revenue to
the manufacturer!  Sneaky bastards.

Re: MSG

This was also mentioned, if I remember correctly, in Supersize Me.  That was a real eye-opener for me.

Re: MSG

Yes this is a shocking food additive that is mainly found in takeaway chinese food and in cheese and some other flavoured chip and crisp packets. Comes under the number of E621 or just 621 so look on the items you buy on the nutritional contents table and look out for this number.
Alot of Chinese resturants in Australia advertise the fact they dont use MSG in their food for the reasons stated previously.

Re: MSG

Hi Maydovus,

Speaking of Australia, there's a magazine published there which you may have seen
called NEXUS.  They're always printing expose's on the food industry and, well,
everything else the PTB are foisting on us.
I used to wonder why films made in Australia were so refreshing and wonderful
until it dawned on me that anyone who lives in the US is inside "the bubble" (as
Gore Vidal calls it) has their ideas and perceptions constrained by those who
control the bubble.

And now even Australia is being locked down by forces which want to stop any
company from producing medicines which actually CURE people.

Hey Tom,

Yeah I'm from Australia and I have been reading that magazine for years!  I have actually posted a link in the links section to that website which contains alot of "very interesting articles" and it is the magazine which has helped me opened my eyes to what is going on.
Yeah I myself cant believe that they actually supress infomation on cures for "all" diseases but how big do you think the population can grow, I can see why they do it but it is so wrong.
Also the the contents in our food and how foods are produced, some people would be shocked to say the least and probably wouldnt eat anymore but hey we still have to live  wink

First thing I saw when I clicked the health thread.

Re: MSG

MSG is banned in most of Europe. They have even banned fluoride toothpastes in Belgium AND they have to label foods containing genetically modified products over there! Whoever  said they were 5 years behind North Amerika was a big liar!

Re: MSG

Just to follow up on the msg issue (from this thread and also the thread here).

http://www.truthinlabeling.org as mentioned in the OP two years ago, is a great website which discusses the ways that the corrupt food industry labels msg.  As pretty much everyone know by now, Msg is really something to be avoided as much as possible.  Not to mention the blatantly negative physical health effects, you'll notice a good dose of it can drive up apathy like pretty much nothing else...!  (Well, maybe fluoride and aspartame are close...)  Repeated use of it can make all spiritual development seem like it's next to impossible.

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of what to look for on the food labels:

www.truthinlabeling.org wrote:

These ALWAYS contain MSG:

Glutamate
Glutamic acid
Gelatin
Monosodium glutamate
Calcium caseinate
Textured protein
Monopotassium glutamate
Sodium caseinate
Yeast nutrient
Yeast extract
Yeast food
Autolyzed yeast
Hydrolyzed protein
(any protein that is hydrolyzed)
Hydrolyzed corn gluten
Natrium glutamate (natrium is Latin/German for sodium)

These OFTEN contain MSG or create MSG during processing

Carrageenan
Maltodextrin
Malt extract
Natural pork flavoring
Citric acid
Malt flavoring
Bouillon and Broth
Natural chicken flavoring
Soy protein isolate
Natural beef flavoring
Ultra-pasteurized
Soy sauce
Stock
Barley malt
Soy sauce extract
Whey protein concentrate
Pectin
Soy protein
Whey protein
Protease
Soy protein concentrate
Whey protein isolate
Protease enzymes
Anything protein fortified
Flavors(s) & Flavoring(s)
Anything enzyme modified
Anything fermented
Natural flavor(s) & flavoring(s)
Enzymes anything
Seasonings(the word "seasonings")

In ADDITION...

The new game is to label hydrolyzed proteins as pea protein, whey protein, corn protein, etc. If a pea, for example, were whole, it would be identified as a pea. Calling an ingredient pea protein indicates that the pea has been hydrolyzed, at least in part, and that processed free glutamic acid (MSG) is present. Relatively new to the list are wheat protein and soy protein.

Disodium guanylate and disodium inosinate are expensive food additives that work synergistically with inexpensive MSG. Their use suggests that the product has MSG in it. They would probably not be used as food additives if there were no MSG present.

MSG reactions have been reported to soaps, shampoos, hair conditioners, and cosmetics, where MSG is hidden in ingredients that include the words "hydrolyzed," "amino acids," and "protein."

Low fat and no fat milk products often include milk solids that contain MSG.

Drinks, candy, and chewing gum are potential sources of hidden MSG and of aspartame and neotame. Aspartic acid, found in neotame and aspartame (NutraSweet), ordinarily causes MSG type reactions in MSG sensitive people. Aspartame is found in some medications, including children's medications. Neotame is relatively new and we have not yet seen it used widely. Check with your pharmacist.

Binders and fillers for medications, nutrients, and supplements, both prescription and non-prescription, enteral feeding materials, and some fluids administered intravenously in hospitals, may contain MSG.

According to the manufacturer, Varivax–Merck chicken pox vaccine (Varicella Virus Live), contains L-monosodium glutamate and hydrolyzed gelatin both of which contain processed free glutamic acid (MSG) which causes brain lesions in young laboratory animals, and causes endocrine disturbances like OBESITY and REPRODUCTIVE disorders later in life.  It would appear that most, if not all, live virus vaccines contain MSG.

Reactions to MSG are dose related, i.e., some people react to even very small amounts. MSG-induced reactions may occur immediately after ingestion or after as much as 48 hours.

Note: There are additional ingredients that appear to cause MSG reactions in ACUTELY sensitive people. A list is available by request.

Remember: By FDA definition, all MSG is "naturally occurring." "Natural" doesn't mean "safe."  "Natural" only means that the ingredient started out in nature.
