Topic: Website name suggestion needed.

Andy and I are thinking of creating a website similar to Ryze or Ecademy, but targeted at personal networking for the more spiritual or free thinking individual. We are having some trouble thinking of a catchy branded name for it, though. Does anyone here have any cool suggestions that are still available for domain purchase?

i didnt check if these were available, but nothing showed up when i punched them in the browser... check with a registrar for more...

We don't have a huge amount of information as we're still in the planning stages. Basically what we want to do is create a site that offers it's users a blog/homepage type service similar to http://www.xanga.com/ but also gives everyone the networking and forum/community building features of sites like http://www.ryze.com and http://www.ecademy.com which are mainly used for business networking.

Our target market is basically going to be people who are interested in holistic health and spirituality.

I think we're also going to be using Drupal but with a lot of customisation because as it stands it only allows us to do about half of what we want it to do.

Rith regards to the name, well we don't want the name to imply too much, but I would like it to have some kind of spiritual connotation.

My favourite name I've come up with so far is Resonate.com but sadly the domain is unavailble, as are virutally all 1 word domains. Just about every half decent name I've thought of so far has been unavailable. sad

Thanks for the suggestions Zonabi, but Telepathic network is not what we're about. The name would have to appeal to just about anyone so it needs to be something far more general like Ryze or Xanga.

But what it does have is a wonderful, extensible, plug-in architecture into which new pieces of functionality can easily be added. I had this exact idea a few months ago, iirc this forum was the inspiration yikes anyways, at the time i thought it through pretty extensively and I am a programmer so if you guys ever need any help coding drop me a line.

For the time being we've chosen the name Conscious Nation, and have registered the domain. It should be up and operational by the end of the month in a beta state, at which point anyone here is welcome to come and test it out. I'll let you know when it's available. Smeene, thanks for the offer, but I have the programming stuff covered already. Drupal already does most of the stuff we need, I just have to add in another module and a few customizations to make it do everything we want. The area I'm more concerned about this moment is the marketing and promotion of the site, which will really determine how successul it'll be.

I like Conscious Nation.  What about (not just one nation) Conscious Globe / Conscious Planet /  Aware and Connected / Aware and All There / Healthy Connections / Conscious Connections / ... Can't you tell I love brainstorming!  Anyway, good luck with it guys, it sounds like a wonderful and much needed quality addition to what's already in cyberspace.
