Topic: circadian rhythms

Using the search function I found some articles in which neomatrix mentioned the "circadian rhythms" but the thread didn't went further on that subject, so I start a topic about it.
I stumbled upon an article that is mentioning, that persons who are kept away from influences that give them an impression of time develop a circadian rhythm that is aproximately 25 hours.
The article I've read is in german, I managed only to find this articles mentioning the 25-hour circadian day in english:

In humans, the process of entrainment is particularly important in view
of our lifestyle. Because our free running pacemakers mark an
approximately 25 hour day (other species have different pacemaker
periods) we constantly have to set our clocks to match environmental
conditions.  In isolation experiments, subjects sleep/wake cycle
increases each day and eventually they "lose" days. Hobson remarks on
this mismatch:

"These results mean that humans have a natural tendency to sleep at a
frequency that is slightly different from what will in reality be most
adaptive"

I find it an interesting fact because I recognized that I'm tend to shift my sleep cycles also if I'm not paying attention to it and counteract - for instance doing sports to be exhausted in the evening.
What makes me wonder is the fact that this internal 25 hour rhythm exists. Had there been times the earth was spinning slower? I searched the C's transcripts but didn't find anything. I found accidently through google, that a day on mars is 24.6 hours long. Don't know if there's a connection.

Any thoughts regarding the 25-hour cycle?

Re: circadian rhythms

I just stumbled upon a possible answer to my question while reading the Ra-material. Seems I was quite right in sensing a connection to Mars.

Questioner: Thank you. I read that recent research has indicated that the normal sleep cycle for entities on this planet occurs one hour later each diurnal period so that we have a 25 hour cycle instead of a 24 hour cycle. Is this correct, and if so, why is this?
Ra: I am Ra. This is in some cases correct. The planetary influences from which those of Mars experience memory have some effect upon these third-density physical bodily complexes. This race has given its genetic material to many bodies upon your plane.

Re: circadian rhythms

Hi Heandras,

I am unemployed and almost free of routine; my sleeping and eating patterns are thus very different to the usual persons. I only retire to bed when I am tired. Similarly, I only eat when I am hungry. This usually results in me eating smaller portions of food more regularly throughout the day. I find my hunger comes at different times of the day, sometimes I will eat a meal at 3pm, a few snacks of fruit or somesuch if I feel the pangs, and a more substantial meal I will eat sometimes only a couple of hours later, sometimes at midnight. It also depends on my sleep patterns at the time.
I find I will have weeks of sleeping between 3am/5am till a later time the next morning (10-am-12pm).. But this will slowly change until I find I am going to bed at say 9/11pm and waking up very early the next day. Sometimes my sleep patterns fall in between... as recently I have been going to bed at roughly midnight and waking up at around 8-9am. These days tend to be my most productive and positive... Whereas I find that sleeping through the day and being active at night leads me to more introspective and reflective modes of being. I often find myself in deep contemplative states during nighttime walks, taking more of a rational view during these times.
When my periods of sleep fall into the roughly traditional hours of nighttime I find myself leaning towards more "real world" activities such as physical exercise and socialising.
This, of course, isn't rigid. Sometimes during my nocturnal phases I find myself revelling in social interaction - discussions with friends of a philosophical or spiritual nature, even with those that are not usually inclined to think in such ways. And sometimes I will spend my entire day walking in the hills or in silent contemplation/meditation.

One thought I've also had is that this could be due to the various stages of the moon, as outlined in Montalk's topic.

Anyway, those are just my habits and thoughts, I enjoy the different periods of thought/living that I experience, almost as 2 archetypes: lunar and sol, "architect and oracle". It is often during the transition from nocturnal to diurnal that I have my greatest moments of clarity and thought (as the two modes of being are linked - heart and mind united).

Re: circadian rhythms

It's been awhile since I've read on circadian rhythms. I think there are 3 types, one set to 25 hours, one for the lunar cycle and one that is either by the week, season or year I can't remember exactly which.

Peace,
Teddy
