Topic: Global Government

Is world government all bad?  The way that I imagine certain factions envision the future, world government might turn this planet into a nightmare Orwellian state.  Loss of freedom, loss of privacy, etc.

However, when people identify primarily with the nation that they are part of rather than thinking of themselves as global citizens and members of the human race, a lot of negative events occur - like war for example. (Not that this is the only reason for war)

Could global goverment be a step in growing up as a species and as a planet?

Re: Global Government

I personally think that while there could be a lot of positives, I think the possibility for the negative is too real and way more probable. Instead of a person in power of a relatively small area yet able of disrupting world dynamics, we now would have complete world dominance. Access to military power worldwide directly. Funds for government experiments/desires becomes more unlimited. I shudder to think what could be possible in such a situation. Granted war wouldn't necessarily be over economic reasons or religion but it would still happen and then be specifically directed at the populace.

I am taking this to the extreme, but at least now there are places of haven or "lesser evils" to choose so to speak. I can't see how those would exist under one government.

Just some thoughts.

Re: Global Government

Excellent subject, wandering1.  Unfortunately I think T-Ren is right on the money.  We're rushing headlong for a prison planet, not a utopia.  On the other hand, there might be no alternative but to move forward anyway.  With the advanced technology out there that we can only speculate about, there exists a very plausible possibility that if we don't eliminate nation-states, some lunatic will eventually do something that might jeopardize all life on the planet.

The tsunami comes to mind.  Was that a warning to someone?  Why are all the foreign soldiers now being required to leave Indonesia?  Does their government realize that something much more important is going on?

Anyway this reminds me, I was planning to start sketching out ideas for a model constitution, possibly with a world government in mind.   Maybe I'll start that as another thread here on NR shortly.

Re: Global Government

As always, excellent points of view guys!
As I see it, the simplexity of the game we see unfolding could well be boiled down to the obvious war for global governance being merely the 3d expression of the intended interdimensional hijacking of the singularity event of 2012. If of course there is any truth to all data surrounding the mythical end of time. My feeling on this is that just maybe, the expansion of polarisation via the "War OF Terror" may be being blindly lead towards central " Control", with all infrastructure and apparatus in place to that ends, yet there may well be a cosmic smack instore for the controllers who seek to hijack, and shut down singularity all together. What if all the great(?) work of the ages were thwarted - by design, at the 11th hour by the innate BENEVOLENCE of Galactic singularity movements, whereby all hard earnt, meticulously built, malevolently intended infrastructure etc was actually allowed to proceed unabated all this time, with knowledge of a benevolent STO driven "Checkmate" as the final outcome? Perhaps I'm being overly optimystic about this possibility, however the perceived lull in activity comparitively against suggested timeline of the OWG agenda suggests to me that all is no way well for TPTB, and that maybe they are running out of contingencies to ensure their success... guess we'll see... Thoughts?

...would the last person to leave please turn out the enlightenment?...

Re: Global Government

Well stated, reason.  In an ultimate sense, all is not well for the negative controllers agenda, but in an immediate sense I don't see too much that is stopping the implementation of that agenda.

It may seem like a lull because we have not had another 9/11 type event on US soil.  I would guess that the controllers are still following their primary planned pathway and have not yet had to resort to implementing contingency plans.  Just a guess because I do not have inside information that I am aware of.  I simply survey the field of available information and consider the most likely possibilities.

When most people think of government, they think of a centralized government.  I do not think a 'centralized government' will result in anything positive.  Power needs to be dispursed, primarily to the people.  Is this what you meant by global government?

If it is, then the experience of the communist states would suggest that centralized control would not help eliminate the mentalities that divide us into separate camps.  The communists attempts to suppress the various ethnic groups in such multi-ethnic countries such as the Soviet Union and Yuglslavia backfired in a major way (which was probably the plan all along anyway).  Because the communists suppressed legitimate discourse, instead of allowing differences to be discussed and resolved, we have had highly volitile ethnic relations since their "liberation" from totalitarian rule.  Collaboration and open discussion among the various groups and communities are the only things that will help humanity progress as a species in my opinion.

Re: Global Government

I agree that decentralized power and "power to the people" has many benefits.  Yes, I see collaboration and open discussion as necessary and important.

I see possibilities around global government as including the most positive, idealistic, yet practical ways that it could be implemented as well as the ways that it may be implemented given some of the current trends that are in place.

Re: Global Government

Hmmm, I've tried to think about what could be some of the positives.

Trade tariffs and boundaries are done away with.

Like minded people (like those of us here at NR) group together in common centres rural or more urban setting I don't know, something like the Essenes.

Okay 10 mins later and I can't think of anything else.

Peace,
Teddy
