Lightwave,
Sorry to hear about the spot of bother you're having at present. Where I think you're going wrong, and as others have pointed out, is that you're choosing the victim mentality. Now that's your choice and you can rant and rage until the cows come home but it's not going to improve your situation.
Most of the advice that you've been offered which you've disregarded as intellectual posturing, is in my opinion good advice, and it could be the reason why most of us in this forum are fairly calm and collected while you're all over the shop. Granted, it sounds like you're currently in the middle of a more difficult situation than many of us here but how we all respond to these situations is entirely a personal choice, and these choices will significantly affect the outcome.
The choice is essentially between the victim mentality and the warrior mentality, but there's no point putting yourself in the thick of it if you're not going to act the warrior.
Last week I watched "The Return of the King, Sp. Ed". Those 3 movies are some of the best ever made in my opinion and I think many many parallels can be drawn between Lord of the Rings and the situation we're currently in the middle of. I don't think it's any coincidence that those movies have been made at this time.
But for a lesson in warriorship, keep your eye on Aragorn, particularly in RoTK. Do you ever see Aragorn bitch and moan and complain about shit? Absolutely not, he just charges into battle, cool as a cucumber, and kicks so much evil ass. Aragorn is the man! Get your sword out and be Aragorn!
If you haven't read Stuart Wilde then I suggest you start reading. Get 'God's Gladiators' and read his articles on his site www.stuartwilde.com. Stuart is in the thick of it too and has been for many years. I doubt anyone has taken more of a battering from the ghouls than Stuart has. But is Stuart complaining? Is he hell. He's another warrior giving as good as he gets.
I'll finish with a little story about Stuart which probably will mean nothing to anyone else, but it means the world to me and it's where I draw my strength from these days. It's amazing how a few little words can have such a profound effect on someone.
About a year ago I was invited to meet and spend a few days with Stuart in Canada. It wasn't just me, there was about 20 of us. Anyway on the very last day when everyone was leaving we were under the impression that Stuart had left really early and so noone had a chance to say a last goodbye. By about midday most of the group had left the resort to catch flights but I was still hanging around at reception waiting for someone. And while I'm waiting Stuart pulls up to hand his keys in and so I was pretty elated that I could say a proper goodbye. He gave me a big hug, kissed my cheek and his parting words were "I'll see you on the frontline Andy"
Because of who Stuart is that is probably the most inspiring thing anyone has ever said to me, and it's filled me with a lot of strength of courage for what I'm certain is going to be a very diffcult few years. If, or when I find myself on that frontline, I'm going to be thinking of Stuart, and I'm gonna be thinking of Aragorn, and maybe I'll get my arse completely kicked, but you will never see me giving up hope, and I will never complain, because I believe that this is what I came here to do.
Take what you want from that. If you think it's all a load of shit then that's fine, if you find it useful, then great.
Now pull yourself together soldier!
Andy
