Topic: movie players - unfortunate accidents

Many actors and actresses with particularly powerful roles in certain films have died either during shooting, or between sequels.

Here are a few that come to mind.

    * Gloria Foster (64yrs)

- The Oracle from the Matrix died just before shoot for Matrix Reloaded finished shooting, before Matrix Revolutions began shooting.
- Died from diabetes complications on Saturday

    * Aaliyah Dana Haughton (22yrs)

- Died on
- Slated to play Zee in Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions
- Died in plane crash
- Apparently the plane was overweight with luggage and there was an argument between the pilot and someone else about the weight of the plane.  The pilot was coherced (threatened) to fly anyway.
- Plane leaving Bahamas - did not arrive in Miami

- director "Eyes Wide Shut"
- took approximately one year to edit his film.
- Insisted that a certain segment NOT be cut from his film.   Was told "they" wouldn't distribute his film if the segment was in.   Stanley would not cut the segment.   He died a few days after completing the editing.   AND...guess what was cut from his film?   Those 30 minutes.

    * Heather O'Rourke (12yrs)

- Tragically, four of the actors who appeared in the Poltergeist  series really have died. The first was 22-year-old Dominique Dunne, who played Dana Freeling in the first film. Dunne died on November 4, 1982 after being choked to death.
- Heather O'Rourke, who played Carol Anne Freeling, died on February  1, 1988. O' Rourke, who was the only cast member to appear in all three films, died of septic shock after bacterial toxins invaded her bloodstream. She was 12.
- Although both Dunne and O'Rourke's deaths were unexpected, the other  two were not. After an 18-month long battle with stomach cancer, Julian Beck (who played  Kane) died at the age of 60. Will Sampson (who played Taylor the medicine man) died at the  age on 53 due to post-operative kidney failure and pre-operative malnutrition.

Hi Christine,

You wouldn't happen to have any information about what those missing 30 minutes of Eyes Wide Shut contained, would you?   I'd be very interested.   I saw "Eyes Wide Shut", and loved it, (unlike most who saw it).   I thought it was a great film visually, every single shot was enjoyable to look at which is an amazing feat in film making.  I too have also theorized that Kubrick's death, despite him being as old as he was, had nothing to do with age and everything to do with the contents of the second half of the move.   The occultic orgy scene at the elite's mansion which Tom Cruise finds himself walking amongst - and where it's hinted that one of the beautiful models at the orgy later winds up the victim of ritual sacrifice - probably had something to do with his death.

This is the stuff that David Icke and others have been talking about for years.  But nobody listens.  I admit that I didn't fully believe it either, but when I saw this movie, made by a prominant member of Hollywood, somebody who would be in the know, I had a new outlook on it.

Hi Lyra,

I'm glad you asked because I've been wracking my brains to remember where I heard this or where I read it.  I tried searching google last night before I posted but couldn't find anything.  Although, I didn't search very long.  Perhaps you could help me find it?  I'll keep looking too.

What has always struck me as a rather heavy "coincidence" was the marriage break-up/blow up of what had appeared a solid relationship. Kidman/Cruise - almost on the heels of the release of this movie.  It felt to me, more than simply life mirroring art - like something more.

I had to chuckle at this.  At 29, I know 70 is "old" - yet from where I sit, I was shocked he died so young.  <grin>

Don't forget James Caviezel being struck by lightning TWICE when filming "The Passion of the Christ."   He didn't die, but I think that qualifies as an "unfortunate accident" !  wink   What are the odds of the man who played Jesus being hit by lightning more than once?   Pretty crazy!

it mentions the four people who died during the making of the poltergeist trilogy.  it's fairly objective, and remarks that the deaths of these people have turned into a kind of urban legend.  the production of these movies was said to be cursed.  anyway...that's what this thread made me think of.

I found this very interesting considering that the channel ("Old Chinese/Cheung Fu") that Stuart Wilde took much of his information from said in his book that Jesus was not crucified - but stood on a hill-raised his arms in the shape of a cross and was struck by lightening.  I have a book with a collection of the transcripts from the tapes - I can find the quote.  Odd, non??

Yes, this is odd.  Then again, standing out in the middle of a thunderstorm - on a hill - is a good way to get struck by lightning.  for what it's worth
