Topic: HELP! need advice/input coping with STS/passive agressive neighbors

My line of work has me dealing with some of the most OP/STS/malignant narcissistic/psychopathic population imaginable.  You'd think that this would be of some help dealing with neighbors from hell (who are not in the extreme of this catagory)-but today I had to REALLY restrain myself -the ol Irish DNA got activated and being a libra to the core; well it was very very challanging.

Here goes; my cat,  (Fat Head) went over their fence (5 mo's old and pretty spunky and probably has kitty ADHD).  Heard her mewing and mewing, a "I'm in trouble mama" cry.  After going through all the normal trouble shooting to get her, lo and behold I discovered these people put cat traps in their backyard and systematically "get" all the cats in the neighborhood.  That's what happened to Fat Heads mama; and these people knew it was our cat...

I climbed the fence and rescued her, hoping the bait in the trap wasn't poison-poor kitty still smells pretty bad from the bait -she's still quite traumatized.

Now mind you this latest stunt is just one of MANY that have occurred this past year-not only with me, but  with another neighbor as well.  Am so tempted to pull a simple curve ball (majik) to get back that I can almost taste it-but know deep down that is not the right way to deal with the problem.  BTW these neighbors are beyond any hope for any sort of reasonable communication regarding their childish behavior.

It's just when things like this involve pets and innocent animals I get totally unglued.  I know that mama cat died-saw and felt her presence more than once.

I normally don't recommend this type of action, but is there any legal action you can take?  It sounds like they don't have much of a conscience and if you can't appeal to that then the only thing left is the threat of punishment.  Enticing animals, if I am reading you correctly, could be a considered animal abuse.  That may give you room for a complaint.

Get out'a dodge.  I might move, if possible.  This behavior is unjustifiable.  You may pursue legal action, but it might be more conflict than it's worth. 

Buffer the kitties (and yourself) from unfriendly foe.  They deserve to wander unthreatened around their neighborhood.  It'll just be a matter of time if you do nothing.

Hi manyeagles,

Your neighbors aren't going to change;   if moving's not an option, then keep the kitty indoors for the time being.  If you care about the cat please don't let it roam around until something changes.   An indoor kitty longing for the outdoors is better than no kitty at all.    Like Cameron said, it's only a matter of time if you do let her out.

Thank you my friends for your input,  right now Fat Head is sitting on my lap purring, she is safe for now and has not gone outside this morning for her routine "Indy run".  I gave her her extra special kitty mega juicy food that she likes.  Oh sad kitty song sad  She probably thinks she's being punished.  Maybe I'll get her a new toy today.

My boyfriend and I are checking out some property today and plan on moving -probably within this year or sooner.  In the meantime I'll just have to restrain myself from the temptation of doing something to get back-but my good neighbor on the other side volunteered to climb the fence and remove the trap smile  Maybe that would save some kitty lives and Fat Head would go down in famous kitty historydom or something.

Or it could get you into trouble.  It can't hurt to file a complaint with humane society, though.  Maybe they've already had one other, and there's grounds to pay a visit or get the authorities involved.
