Topic: What do all y'all do in your free time?

As for me, I pretty much just go on the computer and do one of the following: Use the StumbleUpon button on my Firefox browser which takes me to semi-interesting sites, Go to ebaumsworld.com and watch stupid/crazy videos, Watch TV if there is a good movie on (I do this like 1-2hrs a week,) and I read and post on this wonderfully open minded forum.

Anyways, I feel like I should be doing other activities on a regular basis that would be more fulfilling. I've thought about reading lots of fiction books from good reading lists, picking up my guitar again and getting really good at it so I can maybe join a band again, cooking, volunteering in some way, or even writing my own stories. I feel like I gotta get the creativity flowing once again.

So... What do all y'all do in your free time to keep busy and positive?

Re: What do all y'all do in your free time?

That's a good question, where does my time go? Off the top of my head, I'd say it's something like this:

10 hours sleeping
1 hour in the shower and getting dressed etc.
30 minutes rolling cigarettes and making tea.
1 hour smoking cigarettes and drinking tea.
2 hours playing either football, skittles or d&d.
30 minutes cycling or walking somewhere.
0 hours working (oh dear where's my money gone?)

Damn I've 9 hours left with little to fill the time with. I would guess that the other 9 hours would be spent mostly browsing t'internet, listening to music and passing time.

A good idea might be to start a time log, where we can record what we do throughout the day and find out where the lost hours went.

Re: What do all y'all do in your free time?

Hey this is fun!

6-9 hrs sleeping
3-4 hours listening to music
3-5 hours online either at NR or downloading music/good movies
30 mins-1 hr shower/cleaning
0 hours working
1-2 hours playing NHL or DBZ
1-3 hours playing hockey on ice
30 mins or more thinking thoughts that have nothing to do with the moment

I guess now a few hours will go to finding a job and a place to live.

Otherwise, I attempt to grow and learn most days, and of course

carpe diem

Spare time, errr, some youth work, free website for some volunteer style organisations, reading about yoga, practicing yoga, reading all sorts of books. Riding bikes, photography, rock climbing and socilising etc. I know I will have missed things but thats a rough idea.

Re: What do all y'all do in your free time?

I work ten hours and then come home and divide my time between the tv and the computer.  I found that if I don't do very much of anything, I can save money quickly.  I need five grand quickly, and the only way I know how to get it is to work and save.

I want to begin meditation in the near future, but first I have to over power certain ego habits, such as sleeping as late as possible.  I think the best time of day for me in particular, is morning, just before sunrise.  I don't know what to meditate on though.  I'm considering the possibility of focusing on my inner being as if it is many universes under the control of Atman, yet each septenary aspect of myself has an Atman and they need to bring unto themselves in harmony all the other authorities and powers within.

Great is the power in the outer world of one who has been victorious in their internal war in their own inner world.

The Power derived from Buddhist meditation.

To date, I fill myself with study to the point of confusion and then wait for it all to coalesce into some useable form.  That is my usual pattern.

Good judgement comes from experience; experience comes from bad judgement.

1) Sleep
2) Coffee and cigarettes over Judge Mathis
3) Work
4) Reading up on esoteric subjects
5) Eat
6) Think about what I should be doing with my time, but don't because I'm undisciplined and outright lazy
7) Sleep

Re: What do all y'all do in your free time?

First off, drinking two pot of that black, wonderful liquid known as coffee, along with several cigarettes. Check emails, then online news sits for what is going on today. Then a little research on current topics, for later posting. If I have a computer that needs fixed, that comes next, determine what is wrong, hardware or software, and fix or replace any parts, or order parts from several online stores, like newegg, and tigerdirect. Then try to talk the customer into running Linux, as I am a member of the Free Software Foundation, and a tester for Linux. I hate Microsoft, and all that they stand for, and any other monopoly like they are. Why spend your good, hard earned money on software that constantly needs updates, and is slow as can be, where you have to have virus protection, and worry about open ports that you don't really know how to close?

Then an intelligent conversation on current events with my girlfriend and son, and a quick watch of the cable news, although one can't believe everything they say, and they refuse to say a lot of things, like the latest on Ron Paul for president, for instance.
Then an hour of meditation after grounding and centering, and a nice talk with my Spirit Guide, if she is available, followed with prayers for those who need help, healing and so on. Then the evening meal is shared with my family, and a few hours of TV, provided anything good is on, that is, or a good movie, I have a good collection of DVDs and VCR tapes.

That is a typical day for me.

Re: What do all y'all do in your free time?

I have a hard time with describing "free time"... I usually just say what free time? But really I think because of how my life is...it's just all time and what I do... for that reason it's easier to describe what I do on an average day...because "free time" for me does not come in large blocks so really everything's sort of just my day and whatever I have time for.

I fix computers for a living now and am working on writing for a living...so there is a fair amount of both being done at any given moment... or at least writing in my head for when I have "free time" later to put it down.

I would say I spend a large part of my day working... probably 8-12 or more hours...but during that time I am not just fixing computers and installing networks...I am also doing things like working on my websites, writing what I remember of my long thoughts while doing other things, talking to my boyfriend, sending messages to friends and professional contacts.  I also practice magic so I do that sometimes during "work" hours as well as at home.  I also do some metaphysical/psychism type of practice depending on what's going on.

I tend to spend a whole lot of my day in thought no matter what I am doing.  The rest of my days are divided among friends and family, cat and dogs, stuff to do around the house and whatever else fits in there.  I do meditate anywhere between 5 minutes and an hour before sleeping...or I wouldn't sleep very well with my action packed days smile  I'm not sure what a day off feels like anymore either...but soon...hopefully with enough saving and such I will find out.

Mix records, and there's at least a half-hour each day which is known as "kitty-time"
