Hugging is creepy. Serves her right.
(that was a a joke, but even though my sentiments are true in my first sentence, this is obviously an unbelievable restriction placed upon innocent kids. Unless there is more to the story that we're not hearing. Like, you know...all the deaths that have recently been caused by hugging).
What is it with schools and their rules? They can't seem to enforce them with any amount of sense. I'm quite sure the rule is in place to stop the students from heavy petting in the halls. Just like weapons bans should not land a person in detention for bringing a butter knife to school to cut a birthday cake (yes it did happen). ![]()
What is this detention ? A type of a jail/cell? Or she just can not go to school for 2 days ?(that would mean suspension I think)
BTW, here in Brazil there is only suspension in the schools.
Ahhhhh Lyra, how is your “resist the click thing” doing ? ![]()

Detention is when you have to stay after school, which is what happened to her, according to the video. Suspension is when they make you stay home, the same as Brazil.

Not too well, Pictus.
BUT, that's about to change soon. Plans and changes coming up around the bend.
I'm just glad I don't have kids, so I don't have to deal with the nonsense that goes on in schools.
My daughter's school had intiated the same rule at the beginning of the year. They get ISS (in-school suspension) if they are caught hugging their friends. My daughter said she was willing to risk it because there are certain friends she only sees occasionally, so dammit! she's gonna give 'em a big 'ol hug! She hasnt been caught yet, and to be honest, I think most of the teachers just turn a blind eye to it because they see how absolutely ridiculous the rule is.
Irrational laws like that are 100% OP stuff...
Stupid robots!
I hadn't heard about this - what a ridiculous load of bull. When I was in school everyone was hugging everybody every other period... okay maybe not that bad but imagining a school with no hugging seems really weird. I'm really surprised to see this happening! I could understand not hugging people who don't want to be hugged - but this just makes no sense.
Lots happens in school, people can get emotional and have stuff go on while they're stuck there all day - it seems like making a rule saying you can't hug anybody could really have an effect on the dynamic of classmates' relationships. Maybe that's going overboard but I second what lyra said about being glad I don't have kids...
Well, I wouldn't worry about it. Most teachers don't really give a crap (thankfully). Has this rule been implemented in high schools?
