Topic: Contact Attempt?

OK, the subject was a hard one to think up as there is no really obvious subject to this or these questions.  I am not asking on my own behalf I am asking based on a real life story a colleague of mine decided to tell me this afternoon whilst at work.  There are four girls including myself who work in our small office and for some reason three of them were stood around my desk while I sat and listened to them tell of the weird and bizarre dreams they had been having of late, the girl I am asking these questions for is pregnant (incase that has something to do with her experience), she told me that for the past couple of months and more regularly recently she will be laying falling asleep at night, clearing her mind and concentrating on her breathing, something she does every night, right before falling asleep she said that a really incredibly bright light flashes past her eyes, like a bright torch or a car's lights shining in the window of their house, bright enough to startle her and make her wide awake again, opening her eyes and all to see what is happening.  She said this happens every single night.  Now usually I would just think it was one of those half dreams that you have where you trip over something and startle yourself awake again but her story made me think more of it... she had no idea of my interests in "waking up" etc so I told her that I was interested in things spiritual and then she proceeded to tell me of her sister who had called a psychic one night on her way home from work "because she was bored"... the psychic had asked her sister about the girl from my work (her sister) and said some things about her to make her sure which sister the psychic was talking about (as there are three girls in the family), she had said that there was a "pop" grandfather figure trying to communicate with this girl from my work, he was looking out for her as he felt he had not been a good father or grandfather whilst alive.  The girl I work with also told me that her grandfather had been an alcoholic and suffered some kind of mental disorder from being in the frontline at war, their family did not have much at all to do with him whilst he was alive as he pushed everyone away.  Is anyone able to give me their opinion on the bright light flashing past and do you think it would have anything to do with her grandfathers attempts at contacting her to make right his wrongs whilst he was alive? Thank you smile

Hi JM25,
In response to the idea of your workmate being contacted, I think it could be possible. I guess when people are willing to accept that it IS possible, the more they become aware of these situations happening all around them, not just the 'bizarre' types. I'm always hesitant though to take people's advice on matters like this, so that would be my advice to you - yes, I know, it is ironic. There are a lot of people who will tell you one thing, and then an equal number who will tell you the complete opposite. I guess it's up to you to make the decision which one is more applicable to you and depends on where you are at. Just be descerning and understand that there is always another motivation behind things, not always good either.

Personally, I am a big believer in receiving messages or visiting/communicating with loved ones - both living and dead - during dreams, or when close to dream-like state. I can only offer previous experiences where this has happened as any sort of evidence. But it worked for me. What do believe is happening?

Anyway hope this helps. I am happy to provide more insight if you like, but in a nutshell, the short answer is yes, I think it's possible.

I believe my father contacted me after his death.....The family had gone to bed that night (my mother, my son and daughter, husband), I was still awake after just having  a crying spell and my 6 yr. old son walks into my room up to my side of the bed (my father and my son were very close). He stood there with no expression on his face and stated, "I'm not hurting anymore". He stated this two or three times, then he started mumbling like he was talking in his sleep. I told him to go back to bed. It didn't hit me that night, or even for a while after, but I now believe it was my father's way of letting me know everything was OK. I guess it was better than seeing his spirit or something, that might have freaked me out, so I'm thinking this was his subtle way of letting me know he was ok.

I've had this happen.  More than on one occasion. It is way before I fall asleep, it seems like it happens shortly after I close my eyes.  It is a very brief flash of white light, but it feels like the source is inside rather than external.  But it still makes me open my eyes for a moment.  I simply did not give it much thought.  It never inspires fear or any bad feeling, and since I don't have a clue as to what it is, I simply dismiss it. 

I guess I've given an insight into the male way of thinking.  That is based on the same principle of why we aren't as offended by bad smells; if it does not smell like food or danger or woomon, it gets dismissed quickly. <snicker>

But, if I may go a bit deeper, readily admitting my inadequacy at once, but am going to do it anyway.  So there.  Many people give reference to a Source, or the First or Unmanifest Logos, or Pimeval Spirit in the Universe.  Many people are looking in many places for spiritual growth and I have absolutely nothing denigrating to say about that.  We look outside of ourselves for the Divine.  I have a strong feeling that what is without is within.  I mean the Divine Source is without us but an aspect is also within.  It is worth mentioning that this occurence is directly upon you laying down, closing your eyes, no thoughts, no images, no speaking or movements... just unwinding, relaxing, feeling peaceful... THE LOST WORD KEEPS THE SECRET.  I have been led to believe this means the Ego depends on the gesture coming from the Soul or Spirit, the Ego cannot initiate communication. 

I'm just trying out some idea's and do not speak as if I am some kind of religious authority.  I think science, religion and philosophy are intrinsic to every individual, and are natural pathways we take towards the Truth.  To stress any one over the other two is just being unbalanced. 

I gotta go shave and shower now and dont wanna.  I sometimes motivate myself by remembering the negative ions the shower will generate.

Good judgement comes from experience; experience comes from bad judgement.

I used to kind of view showering as a chore, something to zone out during and plow through until I realized that it's really only since the 20th century that people have had the luxury of hot water in their homes with unlimited soap and shampoo and grooming products, all of which means unlimited hot showers for hygiene and muscle relaxing.  We take it for granted in these modern times but we live better than royalty did hundreds of years ago.  !!   (reading dolores cannon's Nostradamus book where she's communicating with Nostradamus back in the 1500s and glimpsing what life was like back then was a real eye opener!  how quickly we forget how bad things used to be....)  And I also realized that the modern way of living with all of its luxuries and benefits may not last forever.  We could lose it in our lifetime, and then we'd be wishing for those days of long hot showers and yummy soap products and designer shampoos.   That's what completely changed my attitude, now I enjoy every shower and try to view it as this luxury, something to revel in and appreciate.  I have my oatmeal and honey face scrub, my peppermint and plum pumice foot scrub, a variety of handmade soaps from mom n' pop companies that I get from Whole Foods, the Bath and Body Works body washes that a friend gave me, and of course the Gillette Sensor Excel razors with the strips of aloe vera gel built in.  And the hot water does wonders for my neck and back issues, relaxes all the muscles.  It's just something that everyday people didn't have the way we do even 100 years ago.  So enjoy it while it lasts and make the most of it!

Hi matt_d82, thanks for that!  I thought about your question on what I think it is, and I immediately without being told about the Grandfather story thought it was a communicaton attempt... I still do and I know that with some people it is not so easy for the passed to make contact, when I thought about it after reading your post the words "desperation to connect" came to mind.  I think thats what it is smile I feel like the question has been answered, its hard when it isnt yourself. Thanks all...

Well that just makes it look like more of a chore!  hmmm... dispensation of attendents to the afore-mentioned procedure may add some appeal to the task. 

It seems like you started out with a tinge of pragmatism and descended into effetism.  But I know better than to believe that.  I think it brings you peaceful unwinding and relaxation.  It takes me two days of doing nothing for my muscles and tendons to stop making noise at me every week.
