Topic: Jojoba oil

Its really a wax although liquid at room temp and the closest thing to human sebum which gives it some useful properties.
I tested this as sun screen , bear in mind it would only have an SPF of about 3, but my skin tans well and i am careful not to burn under the healing sun smile
I will not be put of by scaremongering about putting my skin under the sun and i will not use any chemical toxic sun screen, its all about being sensible.
I just used it on my arms and face which have never gone as dark so quickly and you don't need any of that "after sun" rubbish either. This was back in early June when i went on me Hols to the beautiful beaches and mountains of North Wales and had a few nice days of sunshine.

Due to its closeness to sebum it makes a super moisturizer, similar in this way to virgin coconut oil and will penetrate all the layers of skin.

Useful for many skin complaints, so worth checking out if you are interested.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

Re: Jojoba oil

Could one find this jojoba oil in a healthfood/supplies store? Didn't you mention on another thread that it may be beneficial for acne? I thought of picking some up for my son has acne.

I bought mine on line so not sure about that.
Jojoba helps to both unblock skin pores and to trick the skin into producing less (in many cases excessive) natural sebum which block up the pores in the first place which can lead to acne.

Check out that whole thread though as there are some good posts about  holistic/diet stuff too.

Thankyou Barefoot Doc!

Re: Jojoba oil

Jojoba is available at health food or Whole Food stores.
Not very expensive.

I agree with you Barefoot Doc, about sunscreens.
You cook all those chemicals into your open pores with
the heat and sunlight and some of that stuff is
definitely not good for you.  Some say that those
chemicals actually CAUSE skin cancer.  I don't use
the stuff myself.  I just limit my exposure at first
until I get some tan going, then I just add moisturizer
afterwqrds.  And jojoba is an excellent choice.
