Also, I would like to say thank-you to
the person on NR who recommended Allen Carr's book The Easy Way to
Stop Smoking. http://www.allencarr.com
That would be me! You're very welcome! It's a great book and being smoke free again is such an awesome feeling that gets better day by day!
I like the idea of veganism, so I gave it a try. I was very careful to eat only healthy foods. After two weeks I got sick twice and my energy level was low, and I gained seven (unneeded) pounds. So I gave up, and then noticed ridges on my fingernails which were weak spots -- when the ridges got to the ends of my fingers my nails ripped. So I guess it's not for everyone. In my case it was called malnutrition.

Out of interest do you have type O blood? as in theory this would be the group that may struggle on a vegan diet the worst from all the blood groups.

A vegan diet isn't a healthy diet for all.
That's the bottomline.
Many end up looking emaciated and unhealthy on this diet.
Soy has also been proven to be dangerous for men to consume.
A lot of vegan products are made with bad ingridents.
A lot of vegans eat these crappy soy based products.
Many vegans will wear items made out of synthetic fibers. The production of a lot of these synthetic products
do more damage to the earth then hunting an animal for food ever will.
In My Opinion everyone needs to find what works for them as individuals.
f*ck diets. Eat what you want to eat, but if it makes you feel ill, sick, or your body
doesn't seem to digest it properly, then you know that your not mean't to eat it!
I do well on animal products. I'm bloodtype A. I don't eat the mass-produced meat that most consumers do.
I eat organic grass-fed animal meats & diary products by family farmers who give a shit about others.
I eat them most of the time raw.
I do a raw food based diet.
But 25-50% of my diet is meat, and dairy. The rest being fruits, and greens, some veggies.
A vegan diet isn't the right diet for all.
Many babies will die on a vegan diet.
Find what works best for you. Experiment! Don't let anyone convince you that their diet is the right diet for you.
Listen to your own heart.
Out of interest do you have type O blood?
Yes, O neg.
Very interesting -- thank you B. Doc!
Agree, Millenium, about treatment of modern livestock. It's so horrific I don't even want to go into it -- it prompted me to try veganism. Also, I understand that grass fed, free range beef is higher in Omega 3 and healthier for you.
Generally speaking, (I'm not trying to steer anyone from veganism), if you look around you might be able to find humanely raised animal products at a reasonable price, depending on where you live. www.eatwild.com and www.localharvest.org might help if you're in the United States. Local harvest has good sources for produce as well.
