Topic: Advil commercial

It's either Advil or Tylenol but has anyone seen the commercial for their product on television lately? Their slogan at the end of the commericial is " Stop. Think. " LoL I had to laugh at that one it was too easy for me to catch. They intent to say it on the commercial as "stop and think" but its " Stop. Think. " It's like it's saying stop, dont even think about it just buy the product don't think about buying it just buy it! Consume consume! Silly advertisement. Oh and I'll throw this one in there too... the toyota rav4 commercial where the "dudes" are on the beach and the guys friends are like hey aren't rav4's chicks cars' and the 3 girls come running up and to catch the males attention (becuase this is who this commercial is advertising to) through means of advertisement it shows the girls asses running infront of the car with the toyota symbol basically "flashing by" as the "3" girls pass by it behind them. Ahh I love advertisement it's so amusing... so next time I look at the rav4 my mind will relate it to "ass" hmm maybe I'll get some ass if I get a rav4

Get your magic glasses on like in They Live and you'd probably see OBEY, CONSUME and REPRODUCE all over the TV screen.

You beat me to it, Shoogie, I was about to post that same link.  wink

Definitely read that link people, it's an interesting blog with intelligent insight, but also it has a good write up about this particular Tylenol commercial.

Re: Advil commercial

HA! yes, this ad is very strange yet cool and I just couldn't get my eyes off these ads that seem to be plastered all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. I couldn't help but notice the blue and the red pill conjoined and the little white gap with a "window" in the middle. I thought to myself "WOW, no way, tylenol is doing this?!" Also with the "Stop. Think." It's almost as if they're putting a subtle disclaimer to their products like "Stop. Think. Do you really want to damage your liver with our product?"

One thing that got me just staring into these ads whenever I would walk past it is the little white strip in the middle, especially the window. I thought it was a window, a symbolic way of looking through a dimension, suggesting that there is a 3rd way and you don't have to choose between the two polar opposites, if that makes any sense. I think it's a pretty cool ad from an uncool company.

Shoogie and Lyra, that link is great! Thanks for posting it smile

Re: Advil commercial

That reminds me of the car commercials that say, "stop listening to all the 'hurry in now' stuff and just think about buying a toyota" and others like that. I've also seen car insurance commercials using the same thing. Just telling you to stop thinking about decisions and buy what they're selling. I'm always surprised that someone, somewhere is probably falling for it.
