Topic: Solution to a dog problem
I live in a neighborhood where the kids are not delinquents, the people are free, and the dogs live in heaven. Of course, dogs are angels, by the way. We live the dream here on this mountain top. We do have an occasional mountain lion or bobcat, so dogs and cats are sometimes gone missing; this is the side effect of their freedom from fences and chains. Mine too!
I chose this place. When we found the house we felt that SPIRIT had saved it for us. Actually, the property sat on the market for a year. Apparently we were the only ones that saw its beauty. Others saw the danger, and the inconvenience of the windy, potholed road, and the "dirty" trees with spiders and bugs. We saw the beautiful sunsets, the clean air, the grand trees, and the community. Our neighbors were having a gathering with loud music and drinking, so the real estate agent was painting a picture for us that wasn't actually true; we saw through the illusion that life up here was all about peace and quiet. We landed a property worth five times the asking price in monetary terms, and priceless in spiritual richness. I thank my parents for their gift to us of INDEPENDENCE. Through these unobliged eyes we could see the abundant beauty before us. Had we been lent the down payment on a house earlier in our lives we would not have this luxury. With gifts come expectations. With independence comes spiritual wealth--hopefully.
DOGS: we don't own any. We shared part of our lives with two beautiful friends: a german shepherd and an old english sheepdog. We care for cats adopted from the SPCA; we saved two lost cockatiels; our kids made friends with rats and gerbils. We've never OWNED an animal; I don't believe in that term when it comes to other creatures. We are friends and stewards, but not owners.
My solution to the dog problem: we buy dog biscuits and dole out love when they come around. There have been between 1 and 12 that came by each day. We have no fences in our neighborhood to do more than block the view from the road in certain spots. None really that confine animals or secure privacy. We live free. Funny thing though--not too many people come by looking for their place in the sun. At least not the Heavenly sun that we rest under. I guess people see what they want to see, and own what keeps them secure. All I need to do is buy treats and love life--I get the greatest pleasure from giving my wealth away, more than owning anything that people would envy. I'm free I guess, like the dogs from Heaven. ![]()
