It's called Google.  wink  Here's what I found when I Googled your thread title:

Daylight Saving Time Extended

On Monday August 8, 2005 President Bush signed into law a broad energy bill (Energy Policy Act of 2005) that will extend Daylight Saving Time by four weeks in 2007. The provisions of the bill call for Daylight Saving Time to begin three weeks earlier on the second Sunday in March and end one week later on the first Sunday in November. Previously, Daylight Saving Time started on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October.

So it seems to be related to energy conservation or somesuch.

Right.  It's supposed to save so many gazillion barrels of oil or something, but I just don't understand.  Businesses are going to start at the same time of morning anyway.  If it's dark in the morning, won't they just use those gazillion barrels then instead of in the evening?  Is my thinking that far off?

No, actually, I was thinking the same thing. I remember , I think around 1974, when I was in high school, and there was a big fuel crunch going on. "They"  decided to institue a time change. It would be pitch black outside in the morning, waiting at the school bus, (only good thing about it was we could smoke a joint before the bus came, nobody could see us) So......let's turn the lights on earlier in the day, instead of the evening. And how is this saving energy? roll It makes absolutely no sense, unless there is an angle to it that Im not seeing.

...........seems to me that using up more fuel brings a fuel crisis on sooner, scares more people, and increases the amount of loosh that gets harvested. Maybe oil isn't the fuel that "they"'re interested in, hmmm?

not to mention I'll be tired as hell for a couple of weeks hmm I hope I can keep my spirits up....I suppose the extra hour of daylight in the evening will be worth the trade-off.

I seriously doubt I'll use and less energy though.
