Topic: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

Anyone ever meditate in a mirror, and let their eyes go out of focus?  It's weird what you see...

When I first use to do it back when I was 16 or so I would see a Ape/monkey like face
in the mirror that wasn't my own that would stay there.  Years later my mom boguht this
black pug.  I sware it was this pug looking back at me in the mirror, lol. She kind of looks
like a black monkey, and she always stares at me with her googly eyes.  It's kind of freaky.

I also use to see this purple alien-brain like structure take over my face.  It made me look like a raisin.
Anyone know of or have seen blue/purple alien brain like people?

Now when I do it I usually disappear, and I see the wall behind me.

Othertimes I see purple and green lights float around me, and it gets foggy in my room, like smoke & mirrors.

I think you all should try it.  At first it scared the hell out of me, because all these different faces would come over my face...but eventually somewould stay and go, then you end up just dissapearing and not seeing your face at all.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I used to do this on my own and was always suprised by what I saw-- an old woman, half-animal faces, men, etc.  Years later, I took part in a metaphysical program where this was the first exercise we did for focusing our minds.

I still wonder what this is.  Just tricks of the eye?  Past lives?  Attachments?   I have no idea.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I've tried it and it gave me the creeps.

Back in my more carefree days I dropped acid and took mushrooms plenty of times and someone once suggested I stare at my face in the mirror whilst tripping...so I did and it wasn't a pleasant sight tongue It was funny when doing it with mates around and taking it in turns, but then I did it on my own once and it really freaked me out.

A friend of mine did the same thing with a skull mask on. Not a good idea.. I've done it plenty of times, eventually just get used to looking in a mirror and seeing someone you swear isn't you.

Yes, the same things happened to me. Just exactly the same scenario.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I get lots of faces when I have tried it in the past.  I could never decipher the meaning of what I was seeing so I lost interest in doing it.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I've found that staring into a mirror can be quite an effective tool for focusing my many selves (little i's/separation of 1) on the internal presence within (now moment, witness of creation) and thus seeing through the outer veil of illusion created by that primary Creator Self (capital I/1 "unified") in the "first" place to experience itself in new and exciting ways, yay I/You/We! smile  The opposite application of this gazing could be focusing on something in the outer world to bring about a transcendant state and also allowing one to see the wholeness of unity (1 and 0 unified, infinity) of the moment in the perfect illusion created by the Self in/of the moment.  The present, a momentous occasion of infinite "proportions" of space and time, literally a gift of Self to self, if you will...or if you won't it could be seen instead as a disgusting perversion of "paradise" and used as catalyst toward a separative perception that limits the application of objective love in the light crafted creation but in the end gets you back on the "track" to unification. I find the former perception to be more encompassing than the latter (rebellion at the "misfortune" of our creation), with that increasing scope allowing for the possibility for a wholistically experienced, less alienated, and more efficient run towards unifying again to become One.

When I first read the topic I immediately though of a related excerpt from the Law of One (Ra), book 1 where:

Don Elkins (Questioner) and Carla Rueckert as Ra wrote:

Questioner: [...] could
you state some of the practices or exercises to perform to produce an
acceleration toward the Law of One?
Ra: I am Ra.
Exercise One. This is the most nearly centered and useable within your
illusion complex. The moment contains love. That is the lesson/goal of this
illusion or density. The exercise is to consciously see that love in awareness
and understanding distortions. The first attempt is the cornerstone. Upon
this choosing rests the remainder of the life-experience of an entity. The
second seeking of love within the moment begins the addition. The third
seeking empowers the second, the fourth powering or doubling the third.
As with the previous type of empowerment, there will be some loss of power
due to flaws within the seeking in the distortion of insincerity. However,
the conscious statement of self to self of the desire to seek love is so central
an act of will that, as before, the loss of power due to this friction is
inconsequential.
Exercise Two. The universe is one being. When a mind/body/spirit
complex views another mind/body/spirit complex, see the Creator. This is
an helpful exercise.
Exercise Three. Gaze within a mirror. See the Creator.
Exercise Four. Gaze at the creation which lies about the mind/body/spirit
complex of each entity. See the Creator.
The foundation or prerequisite of these exercises is a predilection towards
what may be called meditation, contemplation, or prayer. With this
attitude, these exercises can be processed. Without it, the data will not sink
down into the roots of the tree of mind, thus enabling and ennobling the
body and touching the spirit.

IM(h)O, practicing this attempted perception of unity whenever possible helps to elicit a chain reaction response creating a positive feedback loop of more effective and efficient "co-creation". You start to see more with light and to be the love in the moment.

What else is there but now anyway?

Anyone?......

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I've mirror meditated a few times, usually while tripping, in the dark. I stare at myself for a while and then let my eyes go out of focus. I'd go in between seeing myself and seeing nothing, as if I was fading in and out of existence. It's quite an interesting experience.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I've only become aware of the need to be 'in the now' recently.  I'd heard of the concept before but never looked into it too deeply, yet the more I consciously remember myself and try to keep an awareness of the present, the more I appreciate the clarity of perception that comes with doing so. I've been reading through Ouspensky's stuff on self-remembering, which has helped me to grasp the implications of this subject. Anything that helps the process is welcome, so the theory on mirror gazing is something I might re-examine with a more serious attitude as opposed to doing it for comedy value while mashed up on psychedelics smile

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

Yeah, you should certainly try it alone, in the dark.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

Yes.  I usually  do it at night in the dark, with candlelight close to the mirror.

Sometimes I almost feel like I'm being sucked into the mirror, my body starts vibrating, but I get scared and quit.
I don't want to end up like Alice in Wonderland.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I used to do it a lot when I was a teenager.  I told my dad about it and he said he used to as well, and didn't have an explanation.  A couple of times, my father and I stared at eachother instead of the mirror which was weird but a lot less creepy than looking at myself.

I forgot all about it.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

I was a teenager when I first started doing it too!  I had no idea why I was doing it, and never mentioned it to anyone until I was in that class in my early 20's.  Weird.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

yes... mirror tripping.

sometimes if i'm very high on marijuanna it can happen, too. i often see myself with one half being robot, the other like an ape. kind of like that terminator poster.

Re: Mirror Meditation / seeing other faces

Heh, I had a dream about doing this last night. My eyes turned emerald green...nothing too out of the ordinary. Then I had a lucid dream where I walked out of a school, and was walking down the street towards the lake...I was hoping someone would pop up and deliver me a good dosage of sage wisdom, but no one appeared. And for some reason, I felt I had to keep my right eye closed in order to concentrate. Anyways, I kept on walking towards the water...and these thug-looking guys appeared walking towards me. As soon as this happened, the dream just faded into regular consciousness...and I laid in my bed trying to get back into that state for a couple of minutes, but to no avail.
But this looking into amirror thing has been happening to me alot in my dreams...I always look the same, except for my eyes. Sometimes there light blue, othertimes emerald green.
I recall being at my friends cottage, and sitting on a couch just relaxing (and mildly stoned wink), when I started to look at his brother...and his brother turned into a pig. That really tripped me out, and I started laughing to myself...
