Topic: Julian Beever - 3 dimensional sidewalk art

Found this today on Crystalinks, (haven't been there in ages) and Ellie had a blurb about an artist named Julian Beever.  I googled him and check out some of his work that I found:

Neat!  I've never seen anything like it.  Thought NR might enjoy it.

He is fantastic....lots of talent!

What's interesting is that of course the pictures only have the 3 dimensional illusion when viewed from one specific angle.  Any other angle and it all falls apart.  Here's the swimming pool lady viewed from the other angle:

Unrecognizable!

Anyway, just thought these pics were cool.  For some reason they almost make me a little dizzy when I look at them.  Like my head hurts, there's a tug-of-war in my brain, which *knows* that these pics are just really well done 2-dimensional chalk drawings, but can't reconcile that with the very three dimensional images that I'm seeing.  So it actually makes my head hurt a little.   I wonder if anybody else experienced that too.......

Re: Julian Beever - 3 dimensional sidewalk art

I felt just a little bit, happens more on some pictures like the 1, 2, 4, 5 and more
on the 10.

We must be “tuned"  to see the effect, I do not know how he can do that stuff.
It makes me remember that we have being “tuned"  to “see"  things the way they are...
