Topic: FBI's 4th Warning

OMG WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!! *rolls eyes*

After reading this, here is my reasoning, and why this would be of any kind of importance to us.

There's about a 100% chance of an attack between now and the elections...I think we can all see why without having to go into depth explaining it.
Will there be a big attack this weekend/week? Most likely not ..but I wouldn't rule out something like the LAX attack of 2002 when the Egyptian limo driver parked his limo in front of the El Al terminal and went inside and went on to kill 2 Israelis and wound 2 others before bring killed himself..
Regardless if it happens or not this weekend, it's getting close.
I think we could all agree that something is going to happen this summer, if not by this fall. Atleast I believe that. Summer is coming to an end, or ill be in the next 1.5 months or so. So our time to see what is going to happen is becoming shorter and shorter, I find this quite interesting.  believe it will have something to do with the war or overseas-possibly an attack over america...this might happen to either start up a draft which is also supposed to happen soon or for entertainment...I think some may be for that reason but I also think there will be an ultimate motive to what will happen...your thoughts being???

FBI's 4th Warning

(CBS/AP) A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend.

But in a bulletin sent to law enforcement agencies nationwide Thursday, the FBI stresses that the U.S. has "no specific credible threat reporting that terrorists are planning to target the July 4th celebrations," reports CBS News Correspondent Stephanie Lambidakis.

The bulletin said police should step up patrols and watch for signs of terrorist activity, including surveillance of potential targets. The FBI also listed advice on how to spot possible suicide bombers.

"We know the U.S. homeland remains a top al Qaeda target," the FBI said in the bulletin, sent weekly to 18,000 state and local law enforcement agencies.

Fourth of July celebrations are among the symbolic events that U.S. officials say could present an inviting target to al Qaeda, which intelligence reports indicate will attempt an attack during summer or fall. An attack also could be timed to coincide with the national political conventions or the November elections, plus the Olympics in August in Athens, Greece.

The FBI said police should increase patrols this holiday weekend, vary the timing, size and routes of the patrols, and make sure all vehicles illegally parked in key areas are approached and their drivers questioned.

The Homeland Security Department had no plans to raise the nation's color-coded terror alert level above its current midpoint status of yellow, or elevated. Last week, the agency sent a bulletin urging tighter security to state and local officials and those that operate power and chemical plants and key transportation facilities.

In a general step to further enhance public confidence, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge this week announced new procedures for the nation's ports and waterways, reports CBS News Correspondent Randall Pinkston. The U.S. Coast Guard will now board all foreign vessels entering U.S. harbors, providing an added buffer of protection for passengers using ferries and tour boats.

The government's approach to this major U.S. holiday was muted in comparison to Memorial Day, when the FBI and Attorney General John Ashcroft issued high-profile warnings that terrorists were nearly ready to strike. In Florida this week, Ashcroft repeated his contention that al Qaeda was between 75 percent and 90 percent ready to attack again.

A pan-Arab newspaper reported Friday that a statement issued in the name of the al Qaeda terror group has warned European states they have only two weeks to withdraw troops from Iraq or face the consequences.

Asharq al-Awsat said it had received a statement from the "Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri (al Qaeda)," the group which claimed responsibility for Madrid train bombings on March 11 that killed about 200 people.

The statement referred to the three-month cease-fire for attacks in Europe that the leader of al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, declared on April 15.

"To the European people: only few days remain for you to accept the truce offered by bin Laden. Otherwise you will have nobody but yourself to blame," the paper quoted the statement as saying.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told reporters Thursday in Seattle that local, state and federal officials must cooperate to prevent a new terrorist attack. The lack of such cooperation, from the federal government on down, has been cited by congressional and independent investigators as a key reason the Sept. 11, 2001 plot was not detected.

"We try to use our imagination to determine where the next threat might come from," Mueller said after a visit to the FBI's Seattle field office.

The FBI bulletin cited recent intelligence that continues to show al Qaeda interest in attacking a range of facilities, including gasoline stations and refineries; financial and government institutions; civil aviation; nuclear plants and dams, and subways and freight trains.

Terrorists could seek to replicate attacks overseas that have used bombs in vehicles, assault teams armed with light weapons and suicide bombers, the FBI said.

Around the country, state and local officials echoed the federal government's approach to the Fourth.

"We're encouraging New Yorkers to enjoy the holiday but to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings," said Lynn Rasic, spokeswoman for New York Gov. George Pataki. "Security will be strong and noticeable at public events across the state."

In Atlanta, the city transit system canceled days off for police and planned random sweeps of trains with bomb-sniffing dogs, spokeswoman Kimberly Willis Green said. And in Washington, police were setting up 19 security checkpoints along the National Mall for people to enter to watch the nationally televised fireworks show on Sunday.

In the April 15 audio tape, bin Laden gave Europeans three months to withdraw their troops from what he called the countries of the Muslim nation. Bin Laden warned against any "aggression" against countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

U.S. officials and some terrorism experts believe the Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri (al Qaeda) lacks credibility and has only tenuous ties to al Qaeda. The group has claimed responsibility for events to which it was not connected – such as blackouts in North America and Britain.

Hi Abra,

Well, keep in mind, Coca Cola's ad campaign slogan happens to be...."Unexpected Summer."

A little omenous, eh?

"U.S. Mulls How to Delay Nov. Vote in Case of Attack"

Say WHAT?!?!   It's like they already fully expect that this is going to happen and they're just conditioning the public for it at this point.  No more "what ifs".   Why doesn't the general public see this as a sign that everything all around us is pre-planned, despite the ruse and facade "they" try to present?   Holy cow.   Anyway, read this:

------------------

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A senior House Democratic lawmaker was skeptical on Sunday of a Bush administration idea to obtain the authority to delay the November presidential election in case of an attack by al Qaeda.   U.S. counterterrorism officials are looking at an emergency proposal on the legal steps needed to postpone the presidential election in case of such an attack, Newsweek reported on Sunday..........."

Re: FBI's 4th Warning

Remember the kid on the playground who said "it's my ball--play my way or I'm taking it home"? Probably what shrubito did between stuffing cherry bombs in frogs. He's doing it again, only the vote (and we) are the ball and he's not going home. Maybe this is how schwartzenazi gets in, by appointment under martial law. Speak now or forever see your peace on hold.

How?  How does one do this?  I have had a growing desire within me to start a "quiet riot", in other words non-violent, but all the same I want to start a riot... I want to come out of the woodwork.

I am very familiar with grassroots movements, I've before been involved in creating a "quiet riot".  In the mid-80's I started a 2 week community based movement in Pacifica, CA bringing an end to an over a year long "working" Teachers Union Strike, they had worked for a year without a new contract, and finally led a complete strike.  In two weeks they had a contract.

I also dabbled in a little Social Services reform in my present community about 7 years ago this utilizing the St. Petersburg Times. I had been assigned a reporter to follow me and how I was trying to move mountains in a system that doesn't budge for one whom is not a "squeaky wheel".  In the end of that story I wasn't arrested, the outcome I desired.;)

But mr. 'fire... this isn't the 80's and a school district or county social service offices aren't the US Gov't.... just where do we start?  Do ya think a bullhorn's enough?

I know of others who also want to do more... but how old wise one?

Re: FBI's 4th Warning

If you haven't seen 'Waking Life', you might want to check it out to see Alex Jones (Infowars) driving around town with his version of "mr. microphone". I think the point there was that nobody's really going to hear what you're saying from a bullhorn, even if you stopped your car. I don't have any hope that public protests will accomplish anything but trouble for people exercising their "rights". Those rights simply aren't in place now. The ONLY thing I know to do is to speak the truth to any and all,  my "reputation" be damned. We change the world one soul at a time. The first one is me (us). Don't try to convert anyone to your way of thinking. Present the facts and yourself to the world as though their lives depend on it (they do). You might get a .001% success rate, but that beats zero. Write letters to the editor, don't bother with your "representatives". Post statements and informative web links on local bulletin boards, even (illegally) on telephone poles, etc. Wear a button, a t-shirt, sticker your car bumper. Fly the flag upside down to indicate trouble in the country (or place  flag decals upside down in your windows). Buy flag stamps and affix them upside down to the envelopes you mail. Be subliminal when possible. Every little thing helps. No one thing will make a noticeable difference, but eventually, a cumulative effect may produce a change in some. Use the same conditioning tactics as the elite. Repeat the info as often as possible (like TV), sacrifice your ego as messenger of truth. Be passionate, but not aggressive. Do this in the streets, in the grocery store, at work (!), everywhere the humans are. They won't hear you from the mountaintop, certainly not shouting at the corner.  Seek the truth, and the truth will make you odd. But we were odd from the git-go, weren't we? Teach the children, instruct the naive.  Maybe it won't help at all (I'm cynical enough to think it won't, but too dumb to quit), but it's The Good Fight, damnit! Frogs in the slowly-coming-to-a-boil water, lemmings over the cliff: these are our fellow travelers.  The best way to show your contempt for this system is to pull as many victims out of it as you can.

Re: FBI's 4th Warning

I don't think you're too 'dumb' to quit aaronsfirebrand, you're just persistant.  Stubborn.   You're a triple Scorpio, so you have to be that way.  wink  big_smile     Same as me, somehow I can't / won't quit either.  I'll always keep trying to chip away.   It's like what I talked about back on the "Walking the Walk" thread.   Making an effort to speak up when out and about and confronted with an opportunity to share what you know.  I've typically shyed away from it......many of us do......now's the time to start speaking up, like you write about.   Those are good ideas.

Back before the Iraq war I made up 500 of my own fliers which slammed Bush, using Word, and pictures taken from the David Icke's headlines page.  Now, I don't know if you all have seen the Icke headlines page, but there are some kick ass hysterical photos there mocking Bush, Cheney, Blair, etc. etc.    There was a lot of great material to use, and I formed fliers around those pictures.   Some of my fliers informed people about the March on Washington being organized.  Most of the public probably had no clue that there was a March in the works, or that there was going to be free transportation arranged around the country to get people there any way possible.   So some of my fliers gave them websites and phone numbers where they could get the details.   Others mocked Bush.   Others preached against the War.

For a few nights I was out there sticking fliers on car windshields in the parking lots of Barnes and Noble, Target, and different restaurants all up and down Federal Highway, and on every door in my apartment complex, and I even went inside Barnes and left a stack on a counter top in their little Starbucks area.   big_smile

Didn't think it would do much good.   Certainly wasn't going to stop the war.   But my goal was to try to jolt people out of their complacent stupor, get them thinking.   There they are coming out of J. Alexander's Steakhouse, fat and happy and oblivious, and waiting for them on their Porche windshield is a flier with these sarcastic funny pictures about Bush and a message about what's happening in this country.

Do what you can.   This way when you die you can know that you at least tried.

I made it to this point and my heart spilled over through my eyes... yes.  Give me your young, and I'll teach them the joy of "oddness"!

G'bless you mr. 'fire... I hope many, many others see your words, and as well.... feel your passion for freedom.

I WILL find my way out there, you've just shown an awesome light to illuminate the path.

BTW--my mate was at the computer when I pulled this up, he was reading it, I in another room for a brief visit, and I called out, "Is it a good post?"  He said, "Hell yeah, I was thinking about doing this today!"  He was talking about hanging a flag upside down.

I'm going to send your words out to all my friends.

Ah!  If only I had a C-note for everytime I've said or thought as much... hehehe, I'd go to Jamaica, lay on the beach for a month (!), drowning myself in Bahama Mamas.... just kidding big_smile!  Maybe just a week... Snicker! Snort!

It's an "odd" thing to think this of ones power in the world at large, "At least when I die I'll know I tried."

I'm sure that's what Rachel Corrie (where's her peace prize?) thought as she was standing up to the bulldozers of zion. She inspired many (including myself) by her sacrifice. "Greater love hath no man..."

Yeah... hehehe, kinda like running an Appalosa through a field of mature oat, naked--my version of "soul streaking"... I'm in quite the sparky mood today, yesterday too for that matter.

It's true, I guess I've always been on my/our way... it just seems sooo big these days, the world of people.  I'm old enough to remember when it was much smaller, when it seemed like there was more land than people.

I'm okay. I am empowered.... it's just so damn big old wise one.

Us Scorpios, all of us, we're a tough crowd though... we're not known for backing down, eh?

Viva La Esperanzar!

Oye!  There's a game a backgammon awaiting me. Now... to wager, or not to wager?  hehehe big_smile
