Fear extraction

I don't know how interesting this post will be but I'd thought I'd give it a try.

I spent last weekend in Orlando and ended up going to Islands of adventure which is the theme park that is coupled with Universal studios.     I love riding rides and haven't done it in quite a while so the anticipation of riding such roller coaster rides like "the Hulk"  and " dueling dragons"  was making me very excited.

While you stand in the lines to ride such rides you are being entertained by multi television screens that show footage of cartoons that coincide with the theme of the ride which a. gets you pumped up for the ride itself,  and b. helps the line go much quicker.

There is a ride at the Islands of adventure called Dr. Doom's Tower that is a vertical free fall ride where you sit in a seat with a big harness over you and your shoulder so as not to fall out of the ride.   It probably is the most intense ride in the whole park in that as you sit in your seet along with the three other people sitting next to you you sit in what to some may be fear if it is your first time on the ride  or what may seem to be an intense feeling of anticipation of being launched about  150 feet up in the air.

I have ridden this ride approx. 15 times and the noticed that the excitement does slightly wear off the more times you ride it......but not much.    I like to notice the look of fear on peoples faces before and during the ride and when the moment that they finally realize that the ride is over most go into what what seem to be  an outcry of relief and high excitement of ".......wow that was great.!!!!"  I wanna do it again.

To me what is most interesting about this ride is the cartoon that plays on the monitors while standing in line.   It gives a history of who Dr. Doom is  (for those that don't he's the bad guy in Fantastic 4 and is the prince of Latveria or something like that),  and explains the reason why his tower was constructed.  The story goes that for the people of Latveria they live a simple mundane life of tending to their chores such as tilling and harvesting the fields,  blacksmithing, and other such mundane tasks  and for the most part the people of Latveria are very content with their lives.  Dr. Doom who I guess for a lack of a better way of saying is the ruler over Latveria and the only thing that he requires from his subjects is that every now and then everyone must come to his castle and ride on his constructed tower of Doom.

The reason he requires the people of Latveria to ride his tower of Doom is because he has found a way to extract the "Fear" that the people ooze out as they prepare to ride the Tower of Doom.  The reason why he wants to extract this fear as the story goes is that this is the most powerful weapon known to mankind and Dr. Doom wants to extract all he can to help energize some sort of weapon that he has constructed that uses this "fear" as its energy source.

As I stood in line waiting to ride the ride I couldn't help but think ,  how many people that watch that little cartoon while standing in line really see the connection, or just simply dismiss it as just another "part of the attraction".  And also couldn't help but think about the paralells to Robert Monroe's "loosh extractions" in his books.

What I guess I'd really like to know or should I say what was really going through my mind while standing in line watching this  is if the people who created this cartoon understand their own message and how close to the truth it may be or is it meant to be purely anecdotal.
