Well there's two ways I could answer that question:
First would be the states of mind that is regulated by chemicals/hormones which are triggered from god knows how many types of transmitters. It could be from a way a person looks at you to the supposed effect T.V.'s, the "moon", and chemtrails perhaps have, and this could even get into hyperdimensional applications.
Danger, I believe is part of the natural balance of negative to positive. For example manipulative forces can balance the negative while divine intervention/awareness can produce counter-tilts to keep the pedestal balanced away from leaning toward the negative, and in which case 'danger' would occur that could be life-threatening if not injurous to the person walking too far from the yellow-brick-road.
Security is awareness of one's position. If he/she is ignorant towards their environment, the people around them, or whatever, what they are not aware of can have unpredictable consequences. Danger being an extreme. I don't think security is a superstition when it comes to day-to-day life, but perhaps it is when looking at ones life objectively. I think you are right about if one drives towards their goals/destiny, with passion, perseverence, dedication and discipline, one's reality is manifested by these actions and perhaps unstoppable from being derailed.
