montalk, I hate to admit it outloud, but I have a horrible time with self control when it comes to some unhealthful drink and foods like coffee, sweets, and dairy

Me too.   Don't feel bad.  It's HARD to just quit that stuff.  I've been eating dairy and sugar my entire life, and to just try and up and quit at age 30 seems so impossible to me.  I've attempted to do it.  But I was not successful.  At best I managed to improve my diet in a major way over these past 2 weeks, but as far as going completely sugar and dairy free....no.  sad  But I'm going to keep trying.

lyra, I'm going out to the grocery store later and I'm going to get the White Tea with Pear... boy-oh-boy, that sounds so yummy! Especially with the notation of it tasting buttery! I love that!

You'll dig it then.  It's like this buttery, sort of kind of almost vanilla type flavor....?  Hard to describe.  But it adds SUCH a tasty flavor to tea combinations.  I don't know how pear wound up tasting like that, but it's good!   I'd recommend trying the blueberry fruity iced tea too since you mentioned liking iced tea and being Southern.  I know when I was drinking that tea I kept thinking of how southern it is, and even more so if it were iced!  (but only if you like blueberries...if you don't, then never mind.  smile  )

And thanks for relaying about the ginger tea and nausea... this will come in handy when the skewed magnetic grid gets my head all wavy-gravy like it does and I feel those pukey symptoms of vertigo/motion sickness. In fact, I'll be buying that today also, I'll never know when I may need it until it's too late.

It's amazing..........I've never had to take Dramamine, but I'd be willing to bet ginger is BETTER than that.   In fact I read in a health book that it was more effective than any of those pharmaceutical meds in regards to eliminating nausea and motion sickness, and it's totally safe for pregnant women.  !  (not that your pregnant, but I still should mention this.)   When I read that I kept thinking what a shame....all those pregnant women out there suffering all the time from morning sickness, and they can't take the meds.....but the answer is right there in the form of natural ginger.   They could sprinkle it on their food, or drink it in a tea.  Eat it in pickled form, like what you get with sushi.  big_smile  Whatever works!    The tea is probably your best bet, it's the most potent direct way to get it.   I used it once after I made the mistake of spinning around and around and around and around in our new office swivel chair that we bought for our desk.  It seemed like a good idea at the time.  tongue   Afterwards....ugh.  I tried just sitting still and ignoring it but the nausea and headache just got worse.  So I resorted to ginger tea, and it worked, very quickly!   Within 5 minutes of sipping it was completely gone.  So I'm a big fan of ginger now too.

Anyone drink Kombucha tea?
I keep a fungus and brew it occasionally and make it with green tea, kinda tastes like vinagry cider, but is packed with enzymes, probiotics and other goodies.

the great thing about Kombucha is you get a new fungus each batch you brew to gift others and its safe from the interferance of big business and patents due to millions networking at home.

A fun guy among you wink

I think to be exact its more of a culture than a fungus, a symbiotic relationship of yeasts and bacteria that form the culture.

Re: What do you guys drink?

well in the morning afternoon and evening (before each meal) i drink about 2-8 oz. of aloe vera juice, and throughout the day distilled water, bout 20oz i guess. 1-2 cups of green tea daily. I used to drink Green Magma too, but that has been getting too expensive for me now. Makes me wonder if i'm spending all this money on health products for naught....but then again, i'd probably be spending it on more dark lagers (maudite, Guinness too, damn good!), shiraz, sauvignon blancs, pinot griogio's or the like. All of which i still drink.

From personal experience, I'd rather drink aloevera/greentea/magma than not.
My body does have more energy and i don't feel so bogged down from a night of drinking the other stuff.
But so damn expensive! All of it is...i should meditate more.

ah well, not dead yet  =)

Re: What do you guys drink?

Diluted fruit juices, sometimes water with a bit of unpasteurized apple cider vinegar mixed with a packet of stevia, one (1) small cup of coffee in the morning, one (1) glass of wine with dinner at night, a beer once in a while. I hardly ever drink plain water but I don't seem to suffer from that.  No  hard alcohol, no sodas.  I did drink diet soda for a while in my early 20's (the only time I indulged) and I got a couple of very prominent gray hairs which went away when I stoppped drinking it.

And, lyra, you are so right about the buttery in nature taste... heck, I SMELLED that quality even before I tasted the tea!

As for another tea that balances and mellows out others is Aritichoke Leaf Tea... yeah wink , artichoke. I found it in an Asian market. It definitely mellows out a strong green tea, but I would imagine it would take the edge off of other teas, maybe even some of the stronger bark teas. But I am using my imagination with that advice because I really haven't drinken too many different teas in my life. Although I did have a bark tea once hmm ... anything would've been an improvement.

For what purposes do you drink Aloe Vera juice? I mean, I know for healthful reasons, like digestion, but any other reasons?

I just know I'm supposed to be drinking this stuff, but I had a bad experience with some juice once and I'm once bitten twice shy. It isn't supposed to taste like vinegar, is it? roll  And I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to give one tummy cramps?

Oh so many questions, eh? big_smile

I live off of Mountain Dew. While I feel my 4 years of it taking a tole on my stomache it doesn't stop me cause no other drink does the job.

No other drink I found can be used as an apetite supressant like the Dew.

Re: What do you guys drink?

Lots of replies here!!  Thanks for all the info... smile

After reading what I been written here - I have just been down the store and got all manner of drinks.  I have a variety of different fruit juices; looks like they don't have too much artificial junk in them, and hopefully they aren't too high on sugar.

Also got a load of mineral water...(I really don't like drinking tap water - and round this way it has a "chemical" smell to it when you open the tap, and it has a subtle - yet when you notice it - quite distinctive metallic taste to it.  So the bottled water is the way to go).

Also, as so many of you drink them - and especially as Lyra seems so keen on them! - I went and got a bunch of different teas.  Mostly they are different varieties of fruit teas.  But there are also some ginger as well as green teas somewhere among all them.

So thanks again - and I will let you know how it goes... big_smile

Wow, glad you liked it!   I double checked the ingredients and sure enough..there's vanilla added in.  Well no WONDER it has that buttery "almost vanilla" quality to it that I was mentioning!  big_smile  haha  Good stuff though.

"Frenzy bean amigo"...that's funny, I like it.  smile  Yeah, for me, I'm glad I got back off the coffee again. It was not agreeing with me anymore.  I'm all about tea mania now.  What I like is that teas give me a nice little boost, but without the headaches and sick feeling that coffee would give me.   Coffee, due to the caffeine, is also an appetite suppressant in a major way.  So I'd drink coffee then not feel like eating.   I know, I know, in our skinny-obsessed culture this is supposed to be a good thing, but to me it's bad.  I need to eat, dammit!  smile

Plus, there are (supposedly) anti-oxidant benefits to many teas, which is another plus to go the tea route.   I can't verify this though.  Guess we gotta just take "their" word for it!

Wanted to comment on this.........could you elaborate on how you do this?   Montalk made some magnetized "vortex water" and I would SWEAR this stuff gave me this really neat feeling positive energy boost.  It was like nothing I'd experienced from a drink before.   I wasn't expecting it either.  I drank the cup of water, then went back to clacking away on the computer, forgetting about it.  Within about 5 - 7 minutes of drinking the water I stopped what I was doing and looked around, noticing that I felt "very different."   Just really positive and "lighter."   That would be a good word for it.  Positive and light.   All from running water through a blender (the vortex) with magnets attached to the sides.  And a dash of colloidal gold thrown in as well.   Who would have thought!

Hi Lyra, i just pour the distilled water into a funnel which seperates the water into 2 channels one spins the water clockwise and the other counterclockwise then the water is combined again at the end of the funnel. Its called the bipolar water energiser.
Distilled water though pure has had any "memory" wiped clean, positive and negative and contains little dissolved oxygen but makes a good base to build a good drink from IMO.
I add Oxygen elements plus  as it contains ionic trace elements  enzymes, amino acids and oxygen see http://www.iwr.com/candida/oxygen-elements.html
and/or a few drops of ionic trace elements from the inland sea at utah.
I have an ozone machine these can be bought quite cheaply of ebay and bubble ozone through for about  5 minutes. This is a real morning time drink for me that seems to wake me up and clears my head.

I have some neo mags but have not experimented with energising water with this method, though from what little i know about magnotherpapy it may seem wise to use the north end of the magnet as opposed to the south.

Yes, in fact I have about five gallons of it bubbling away right now. May be ready today!

I personally love coffee, and Turkish is SOOOO! good. But I do love all different kinds. There is a local, smalltime, family owned coffee bean retailer where you can buy green beans and roast them yourself or have them roasted by "Stan the man", the proprietor. Who BTW makes the best  cappuccino, espresso, latte, etc. I am serious about this. His level of knowledge about coffees and how to brew them is up there with top wine connisseurs. It is like walking into another world when you go to his place, Baba Boudan's. Anyway, there was a point when I was drinking coffee like water, but after a numbers of years I am happy to say I have managed to find an unforced moderation with coffee so that about once a week I am still able to enjoy it without getting heavy into addiction with it and the ensuing headaches and irritability. Now, I drink alot of tea and water more than anything. Some juice in the morning with blue green algae and a host of other nutritional goodies making an energizing "green drink". But, by far my mainstay is sencha or gunpowder green tea with peppermint. I am addicted to it, my tradeoff for coffee. My mornings and evenings are not the same without it. And on the subject of alcohol, my friends, nothing is like a homebrew. I am just finishing a batch of wheat/barley brew made back in Jan./Feb. Three left out of a case and sixer. This should give you an idea of how much I drink. Noooootttt much! In Dec. I will have about four gallons of mead finished. Apple mead, no less, made from local organic honey and the water from my two hundred foot well. My neighbor has the best water I have ever tasted and would have used it in the brewing, but mine is a definite runner up. He is on a two hindred foot well, also. Same water table, but his is so clean and alive it's even better than Trinity water. Probably because it is not in plastic. Anyway, back to the idea of drinks. I enjoy a good alcoholic beverage on occasion. Typically, I stick to brew and no hard alcohols like whiskey, tequila, and vodka. But, I have sweet spot for Tanqeuray (sp?) and also lemoncello. Not a big wine fan, although mead is a wine. It's just plain good, though! But, as with any alcohol a little goes a long way with me and I like it that way. I go for the flavors and artistry in the process of making it.
Anyone ever heard of a beverage called rejuvelac? It is made from fermented wheatberries and water. I used to make that alot, as well as wheatgrass juice. Both very healthy and energizing.
Urine I will never try unless measures call for it. Know a story of a local man who burned his face nearly off and healed it by drinking his urine! His name is Tater Bug. Real live hillbilly from Arkansas!

Re: What do you guys drink?

Right now I'm drinking a nice warm cup of tea:

- one bag of chamomile ginger (Traditional Medicinals brand)
- one bag of peppermint
- sprinkle in some cinnamon
- add honey

yum!!!   It's a great fall / winter drink!  When it's cold and rainy, or blustery and snowy outside, this is the drink to have.  smile
