Topic: The Nag Hammadi
Is anyone else AMAZED that the copies of the Nag Hammadi at the Copic Museum in Cairo are the ONLY known copies of those books?
Of course, there are parallel verses to the NH in the New Testament and such, but those manuscripts--as far as I know--are the ONLY known copies of those teachings. It may be that there are other copies buried elsewhere, or held elsewhere by who-knows-who for who knows what reason.
Perhaps this shouldn't amaze me as it does, but it hits me as amazing. I mean, book-banning and the destroying of books has a long history, but this takes the friggin' cake.
There is one original copy of this text that we know about. One. Uno. Count with me: 1...

I am posting in the Conspiracy folder here, but I really have no conspiracy to offer. I think the fact that there is ONE original copy of the Nag Hammadi pretty much speaks for itself.
In itself it seems to imply two possibilites: (1) due to fate--or, hey, just sloppiness on the part of the Gnostics handling their sacred texts--only one copy of the Nag Hammadi was preserved; (2) somebody or a group of somebodies deliberately wanted the Nag Hammadi gone, out-of-the-picture, and wiped from existence.
but you can avoid its teeth.
