Bomb scare at local council offices - staff to search for explosives..

Well my wife took a visit to the council offices yesterday, only to find a single police car outside and a guy blocking the door.  Apparently there was a bomb scare.  This was a five, so most people were on their way home.

My wife got chatting to one of the staff at the road crossing.  The woman felt she had had a particually bad day...and to top it - she was one of the four members of staff that had to search the building for bombs.

What the hell???!!

There was no bomb squad - a single police car (correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the police know sod all about bombs? (Aside from the obvious don't poke them))...

Stranger still is the fact that after recieving these "orders" from the management - the staff actually trotted on the merry way looking for the damn things.

Weird is all I can say.  I mean - it really is getting to the point were people value their measly office jobs more than their lives...
