Topic: zero is the common

whilst reading some pump curve charts at work , something jumped out at me:

the chart has all the specs of the pump, on one side its got meters and feet, on the bottom its got gallons/min and liters/min.

in other words, it had the 2 popular methods of measurement, metric and english (US? i dont know what its called)

BUT, the thing that caught my eye was the one thing they all had in common: 0 (zero)

so it made me think that no matter what you're talking about, comparing it to, all things have zero in common.

what does this mean?

i guess it means that everything starts from zero? everything starts from nothing?

then this sentence kept repeating in my head:

"what we all have in common is nothing"

not to be confused with 'we all have nothing in common'

what does this mean?

do u think that everything had to have come from nothing at first?

does this additional random rambling of mine spawn any ideas in your mind?

Interestingly the zero is a circle and could be seen as another graphic for infinity. The word ONE starts with “O"  that also is a circle …random? From the point of numerology I see zero as the non-manifest universe. -1 and 1 sums up 0, like matter and antimatter becomes nothingness if brought together –an assumption, of course.
So, it seems we all have in common that we are ultimately the non-manifest One wink

Zero degrees Celsius is 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 0 degrees Fahrenheit is -17.8 degrees Celsius, so it does not always apply. On an absolute scale it always will however, because when there is truely zero of something, it does not matter what there is zero of because there is nothing. It makes nothingness a binding force of all that exists, because everything is equal when there is zero of it.

By the way, the non-metric measurement system is called the imperial system.

Does that mean that the egg came before the chicken?  The egg also being a 0 shape.

Yep - from a spiritual / metaphysical viewpoint, it is the human mind that places the linear nature of which came first onto the arguement.

Is time linear?  Which came first the chicken or the egg?

Which came first...Time or its measurement?

i understand the sacred-ness placed on the number Zero, but that wasnt what i was trying to convey.

what i was trying to point out (which Aprogas rebuttled nicely!) is that in the "frames of references" of all things, (which dont measure equally) - Zero is their common point.

but like aprogas smoothly said, it isnt always the case.

Just a comment about the age-old 'chicken and egg' question:

If one believes in evolution, then the egg came first...
Animals which laid eggs existed long before chickens.

I find that answer to be unequivocal. Eggs preceded chickens.

In human common terms of measure, zero has the sense of the point were the measured started. Aplying zero far than that for me is a foggy job. No proofs i have found all stars from nothing or zero.

It could perhaps mean that we all originate from the same place, or that we all have that nothingness, another word for potential, within us.  I have read and experienced myself the "nothing" that is there when we take away all that we take for granted.  To me, that has always symbolized where the "True Self" is capable of existing, the "zero" that we must pass through to cleanse ourself from our programming and may begin building our own, more honest, self.  This is what I have come to understand what religions mean when they comment on being born in spirit, symbolized by a ritualized "death", baptism by water or fire (though water seems to be a cleansing and fire the attainment of "Self", the set up and then the knock down) , or "born again".

In any case, at the core we are all alike, or have the same core capabilities.

* Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
* People want platitudes, not progress.

I have my own interpretations of numbers, and to me, zero represents pure singularity. Absolute, yet inclusive of all potential.

Fibonacci series: 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 etc.

These numbers seems very common in nature (i.e. there are many plants with 3 or 5 leaves, but not many with 4). It was discovered by studying the breeding speed of rabbits. There are some who theorise that this series also represents the creation of the universe. Where 0 is nothingness, then 1 being starts to exist, somehow it shifts into a different form but is still 1, then duality is introduced, then the holy trinity, etc.

Also when you divide a number by it's previous number, you get closer and closer to the golden mean.
8 / 5 = 1.6
13 / 8 = 1.625
21 / 13 = 1.6154
34 / 21 = 1.6190
Phi = 1.6180339

Pretty amazing stuff.  Interesting what you're mentioning about plants.  I remember from my native Norway there was a plant they called Fourleaves that we learned was poisonous.  It had a black berry in the middle.  Possible the poisonous part.  I've also been in touch with Steiners theory about healing herbs and plants.  He meant that healing plants  have an unneveness in them; like a mutilation or something.
