an appropriate title for this thread might be "musings" or "venting" or "right brained anger."
i read this forum a lot - up until the start of this month it was everyday (along with the C's Signs of the Times) but, officialy, this month there is no internet.
because if anyone remembers, i am a terrorized soul. terrorized by my own procrastination and self-sabotage that the novel my soul has yearned to create for more than a year-and-a-half has yet to be written. in november i (tried to) participate in NaNoWriMo - National novel writing month. i had simplified (rewritten, actually) my original concept for the plot to such a point it was emasculated and pointless. plus i was over-consumed with thoughts of what the election results meant (truly, i would have been just as concerned if kerry had won).
so i said ENOUGH! i came up with a third (yes, third!) idea for how to write my 1984-meets-ashcroft novel that wouldn't suck but would still be doable for the novice which i am. i instituted my own NaNoWriMo which would encompass March. I have been making progress, and unlike in November i feel confident about what I'm writing. when its finished, yes, it will need (much) editing, but it isn't a lost cause. the spirits of orwell and huxley have smiled upon me at last. yet today i was still compelled to break my own no-alcohol rule for the month and buy three sparks. sparks are products i know were marketed especially for me. they're alcoholic energy drinks. you know the red bull etc. drinks. i know in the board meeting for the company they said - ok, so we took an energy drink, added a higher alc./vol. than most beer, so jess should be all over this...but we need something more. a board member says, "I know, let's make the can orange!" the ceo, "yes! that's it, we got him!"
so i finished those, discovered that yes, the no-drinking rule was there for a reason and i cannot write my daily quota, even if amped up on energy drink and inhibitions lowered with alcohol. but i finished the sparks and went to the bar and bought the new budweisser equivalent. it tastes even worse, but i bought five of these and while i can't focus on my book per se, i can still rant god dammit! and rant i am.........my book (ideally) should focus not just on the 3D realities of encroaching tyranny, but also on the mind-manipulation side of things. so hopefully these two (so far) rantings will provide at least a small outlet for my mental energy which can possibly be used or edited into my book later.
I also broke my no-internet rule. i know you, lyra, had mentioned that you became almost addicted to certain sites (like rense) which for you was stupid, because you already knew what was going on yet you kept going back. it was like that with me. i kept saying, i gotta see SOTT or infowars.com (or this site!) to inspire me, yet it was really a well-meaning trap for myself. so anyway, no alcohol and no internet turned into YES! YES! and here i am. posting one of my rare posts to my favorite messageboard. the sparks experiment failed, yet i still cannot untrain my mind from thinking about my writing, which is good. that second rant (the teletubbies one) could go almost word for word (almost) into a later part of my book. so all is well in novel-land.
it's weird when you procrastinate on something truly important to you. you become (or i do anyway) so depressed about not doing what you know you should - not just what you know your 3D body should do but your very soul itself - so depressed that you feel hopeless about anything. i wanted to post so many times to this board but always said "i dont have time" yet i had time to read article after article on alex jones' website. so, in a way, limiting myself and breaking my limits (even just this night) has provided an outlet for expression that had been bottled up for so long. of course i am still going to go back to work tomorrow to catch up (must write 1,667 words daily for the NaNoWriMo goal of 50,000 in 30 days) but i have the next two days off, so its cool. All comes to where it need come if we let it.
Lyra, also, I must say I've always enjoyed your posts but i'd never really posted to/from you, and your first paragraph of your reply to my first post had me laughing for a long, long time. plus it gave me confidence. that's the kind of writing i strive to do - tie things together. not so much to change the world, but to inspire the one person who is yet to come who will (whose sandal straps i am not fit to unfasten!). I hope I will be able to send my first draft (due in early april!) to several people on this board, who can then retransmit it as they deem helpful. punk!
anyway, i need to take another break to go outside and smoke (r.j. reynolds, you rock my lungs, baby!). it is raining. so many people here have prayed, begged and self-flagellated themselves in hope of rain for so long. we have like mega-drought times one thousand. i meant to take a picture of the mountains just outside of town for my (non-existent) website, to show that they have NO SNOW AT ALL, which is downright biblical for february! they should have some snow until, like, june. we will probably have mighty terrible wildfires (again) this summer. its funny, i work in a grocery store in a small town (about 800 people, but a large surrounding area) and the main topics are either weather or gas prices. the gas price conversation reminds me of orwell, where the only conversation that united the proles was the lottery. but the weather, oh when people talk about the weather, and wonder why our weather is so out-of-whack, i always bring up "you know, EVERYWHERE on this planet the weather is messed up" to which they agree, but never going further. i keep hoping for someone to enthusiastically take me up on my unspoken conversation prodder.
so smoking, yah, i quit smoking april 22 (long story, but real) and have one more budweisser energy drink yet to drink - hopefully more ranting to come! glad to finally post without concern for wasted time (already wasted most of today not-writing - but will).
