Know what the #1 Google result is for the query weapons of mass destruction?
Darn, and I was hoping to get that shipment in!
Wow, that's a good link! Thank you cameron!
Heh heh.
I know that I did not know about this, but there are others who don't know that they did not know. Then there are still others who know they they did know, but nevertheless did not know that others knew.
I just noticed this, SednaSphere. It reminds me of a bit by the late great Lord Buckley (anyone else out there knowing to Whom I refer? Lord Buckley, 40 years in the grave and still the hippest cat on this 'jumpin' green sphere'). This is a line from "Cabenza de Gasca (the Gasser), which was a take on a (perhaps invented) contemporary of Vasco de Gama who likewise was an explorer for Ferdinand the 1st: "They didn't know where they were going, but they knew they had to go, because they knew where they were wasn't it." Love the Lord and praise his mighty hipness!
Love that. Lord Buckley, eh. Sounds neat. Sounds like Rumsfeld (whose press conferences I was making fun of) filched his way of expressing himself. Rumsfeld of all people! How absurd! Now that you pointed this out, I'd be willing to BET that Rummy's been borrowing from this guy to give himself some faux allure. See how they do it?
I sincerely doubt if rummy or any of these dolts in office have ever heard of Lord Buckley. And if they did, my guess is that they ridiculed and/or hated it. Buckley was the antithesis of the foul play crowd. Among his early fans was Al Capone, who bought a nightclub to showcase the 'most immaculately hip aristocrat'! His fanbase included Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Buckley's 'mythology' grows larger every day, but the man was larger than any myth. A few CDs are still in print; I strongly recommend "His Royal Hipness" on Discovery records. It contains the best of the best of Buckley: The incredible 'Nazz' (Jesus explained from a very different POV), 'Jonah and the Whale' ("Hey, Jonah." "What is it, fish?"), "The Hip Gan" (Ghandi), the aforementioned "Cabenza de Gasca", "Nero", and a few more treats. If you've any fondness for beat poetry or the beat generation and have not heard Lord Buckley, you are going to flip! A desert island disc to be sure. And on the topic of recordings, this from the Swami: Polygram Records, Warner Brothers and Keebler are merging. The new
company will be called Poly-Warner-Cracker.
